The link in yr edited post - that's where I'd first seen it. Maybe I just misheard Victor on the telly. Alternatively, they might not have transcribed it properly - I'm fairly sure that Vanessa didn't say "Why are using [sic] that wanker tone?"

Well, there was the very telling discussion last week where Victor claimed that he had never masturbated once in his life. Shell squeaked that she couldn't live without doing it several times a day and no-one could believe Vic had never done any DIY. Perhaps that's the source of the "wankers" comments?

The better side of Victor does only tend to come to the front when whatever group he's talking with is made up of more than just het male company. It's entirely possible that he's just uncomfortable in those groups, though

I get the impression that, in an odd way, the fact that he's irritatingly all mouth and no trousers (ie. in one-to-ones with Jason or directly to Big Brother, comes out with the whole baby's arm/pleasin' da ladeeez/gameplan puppeteer crap - but we see absolutely no evidence of any of this elsewhere) is Victor's saving grace. Jason's problem (or one of Jason's problems) is that he not only buys into the same crap, but tries to enact it.

I suspect Spambo also partly defines himself by who dislikes him (seem to recall a comment, a few weeks ago, about how he quite enjoyed having people dislike him, and knowing he disliked them) in a way Victor doesn't.

Jason ticks most of the boxes for (d)evolving into a classical Scottish hardman: background that's felt to be lacking in emotional closeness (adopted); sexual ambiguity with subsequent clumsy-bordering-on-assault attempts at stereotypically hetero relationships; disinterest-verging-on-anger toward women (particularly those who reject him); preference for (often pantomime) masculine company; sensitivity to perceived slights to authority/heterosexuality; tragically low self-definition/esteem.

Victor, having been brought up in a mainly female household (as he's always reminding us) doesn't seem quite as desperate in his performance of masculinity, overblown and stereotypical as it might appear. I can't help wondering whether he'd act the same if there were other black people in the house who might conceivably call him on his inauthenticity.

Re: the wankers comment. I'd read it on the site first, and come to the same conclusion as you, but hearing him actually say it on the round-up show gave it a slightly different slant. Because Jason had been saying how everyone else in the house acted like kids, blah, blah, and Victor's comment to Vanessa seemed to follow directly on from that.

Hmm, okay, although the fact that Vanessa seemed to be using "guys" to mean men, specifically - and the "don't tar all guys with the same brush" comment appears related to that. I haven't seen the live feed, though, so if the site conflated two distinct uses of "guys", then your alternative reading is a valid one.

I'd be incredibly surprised if "wankers" was being used with that degree of specificity. I'd be even more surprised if Victor were truly part of that 0.000infinitesimal proportion of males who've never, ever wanked. Presumably he's experienced frequent sheet-stiffening nocturnal emissions, or has been enjoying regular testicle-emptying sex with da ladeeez since early puberty...

Or to put it less eloquently, he's talking out of his arse. That's a vain and implausible claim even by his standards.

Wanker.

Victor's arse is certainly capacious enough to hold a fair quantity of shite...

Elsewhere, David Wilson, the criminologist who resigned last week, warns of further viiiolence:

"The housemates are extreme types who are conflict-orientated. The problem is there's no place to hide from each other. Even the toilet door is see-through. I told producers, 'This is dangerous'."

Apparently they've been witholding alcohol...

Jason gives Ahmed the official verdict on his sexuality:

"I'm comfortable with my own sexuality...I only like the chicks..."

Hope that's cleared everything up.

Yeah, a nice blow up one with a shiny, reflective surface would be ideal.

I had thought Victor a bit strange in that he kept all his clothes on even in the jacuzzi but last night there was a lot of butt being brandished in his Jason-pisstake, that was more luscious than I suspected, and then he was stark naked in the shower later. He could grow on me. Nah.

Like that they got John Culshaw to do Vanessa's "Please leave the Big Brother house" warning in his Tom Baker voice.

Home late from work and watching the eviction taped for me by my looovely life-partner. Disturbed (as are the housemates) by the booing. It always seems to be the females who get the worst reception, regardless of whether they've behaved badly (and I don't think Vanessa has, really). Presumably this reflects the predominantly-female Big Brother demographic's more critical eye. Woman's inhumanity to woman, and all that.

Amused by Jason's sensitivity to the word 'cunt', when his every sentence is liberally punctuated with 'fucken''.

I think that some of the booing may be down to BB becoming an unreality show over the years - contestants being celebrities as soon as they set foot through the door might be making them fair game for that sort of reaction. You didn't get it in year one because it was just a bunch of people sitting around chatting. The exception to that being Nick, who was a cartoon character - an IRL Dick Dastardly. Save for the weekly tasks, the show was just about watching people interact without their circumstances being twisted all the time. The selection process is also responsible for turning them from normal people into television personalities - the well-balanced, 'dull' individual is avoided at all costs in favour of the one who can most easily become a caricature.

Shell appears to have had another mini-breakdown on hearing the booing. I can understand people being shocked by it, but her reaction does seem a little overboard. Again. It must be all puppy dogs, flowers with smiley faces and candyfloss clouds in Shellworld.

From what i heard of the eviction the booing seemed only to come from a small group within the crowd, and that group sonded decidedly male. I would say that the booing was about 30% by the time Davina had "bigged up" Vannesa.
Has anyone else noticed the similarity between Marco and The Mekon? When he sits on those circular cushions, imagine his face painted green, easy if you have poor reception.

I thought the booing sounded around 50%. Couldn't tell if it was male or female.

I sort of agree with your theory, E Randy, but recall Mel being booed (not quite as overtly, but booed nonetheless) in the very first Big Brother - and I recall one straight male friend explaining to me that this was because she was a "bucket" (ie. a slut/slapper who wouldn't put out). It does seem to me that any female who's adjudged to be a "cocktease" ie. anyone who flirts or responds to flirting without submitting to full vaginal penetration, is automatically booed. Cockteasing is one of the ma-a-ajor Big Brother sins - if one is female. It's unlikely that Spambalaya, when he's finally evicted, will be booed on account of his shameless, obvious, teasing of Dan's cock...

It was nice to see Dan and Marco sort-of bonding this evening. Not quite sure why: I think Dan, having survived a dual eviction with Blonde Amazon, has earned the respect of several in the house, including Marco. Given the latter's witless shriekery, one tends to forget he's an intelligent, articulate Law student capable of forming sophisticated opinions. Equally, given Dan's peacekeeping schtick, it's nice to see him finally getting a tad stroppy, and being direct with people. May it continue.

Does anyone else think that this:

"She had morals... she was always pushing me away."

is the funniest quote ever?

Only trouble is the dots in the middle. There was probably lots in between, making the statements pretty much unconnected. Anyone confirm this?

Got to admit, I don't remember Mel's eviction. Booing does seem to have become much morfe acceptable as the number of series has increased - the first time I remember it as being particularly nasty was Adele's eviction.

Stuart's really grown on me in the last couple of weeks. Thing is, I'm not sure if he's as laid back as he appears to be, or if it's just that he's not prepared to get all that involved with anything because he's scared about how he'll get portrayed. Whatever, "mighty pants" is now curse of choice in the Dupre household.

It's very bizarre that the man who seemed the most obviously punchable on the day they went in has become arguably one of the most likeable housemates (I reckon he's up there with Dan).

This week: hopelessly loathsome Jason to go, to join his hopelessly loathsome would-be sex victim.

I don't think Vanessa was booed for her prick teasing ways because I'd say 50% of the country feels that Jason was harassing her. It's more her blatant hypocrisy! She was so nasty about those food fights, she whined on and on about people making a mess and how immature it was and then she ran giggling and screaming round the garden while Jason whipped her with a towel. Sure she wasn't making a mess but the word immature can be applied as readily to both situations. Moreover she said she was definitely not going to get involved in the house and then she not only got involved but behaved like a loose teenager. She screwed herself, of course she got booed.

And then it came to me:

I have to third the "Stuart actually seems to be a nice guy" sentiments. I think I'm mainly swung by his cute attatchment to cowboy costumes, but he has a nice line of silly phrasing also. But his grin at the giant hat is just entirely worth it.

He seems alright away from all the stuff the programme almost seemed to project on to housemates during their entrances, too. And I so hated him then!

Dude.

yawn - thing's buddy

yah man - he seems more sophisticated than the 'busted' clone he was initially portrayed as.

but in the end, I'm not keen on characters that just 'survive'.

I'm more attracted to those who put themselves on the line.

The big shock for this series = a new housemate. Hmm.

Finding it a little odd that, despite Dan shouting "She was at my audition," as soon as Becky walked into the room, she's still carrying on with the "I'ma froma the Italia Biga Brother" shtuff.
