Jaime from El Paso = Boy Beetle. At least for now.

What was wrong with Dick Grayson in Earth 2? Didn't he turn out decent?

And the Amazons have folded into the Immateria, where they should always have been.

Alexander Luthor is only finishing the job the Monitor left for him, really.

"Who's the rep from Earth 4?"

At first, I thought it was Breach, but then I read the issue:

"Call Faust. I still need Nightshade"

Probably, but so did Earth 1's. I think that was Batman's point.

Breach

Interesting to see that Breach was intended to be an update of the Captain Atom character. Which echoes the Power Girl/Supergirl thing, and Superboy Prime's. Breach may be an example of the current universe trying to set iself right.

I think that was Batman's point.

Oh. I get it now. Ye Olde Superman's trying to say everything's better in his world, and when Batman asks if Dick Grayson is a better man in Earth 2 than he is now as Nightwing, Ye Olde Superman has to admit that he's not. Both Dick Graysons, then and now, are great heroes.

Or an idea for a character that some writers and editors launched whose series got cancelled.

At a guess...the AP is either Alex himself, or the Anti-Monitor.

i remember seeing in the last issue of Breach that he was suppose to pop in Infinite Crisis, but how exactly did he get there? is that shown in any of the tie-in issues?

(aside: anyone actually read Breach? It was surprisingly pretty good.)

I think it may be that they've slated The Demon series for cancellation but it was scheduled to have a few issues left before it dies and so they figured why not incorporate it into One Year Later. I could've sworn Rich Johnston reported both DC's Byrne titles (Doom Patrol and Demon) were both scheduled for cancellation

Byrne usually gets a one year contract with a 6 month option depending on sales. That's why most of his books run 18 issues, they sell well enough for the 6 month option, but not enough to continue beyond them.

The latest issue of Wizard magazine confirms that it is indeed Selina Kyle that is preggers. No confirmation on who's the dad though. I know that ever since the Hush storyline, Selina and Bruce have shagged; also that Slam Brady left the East End cause he realized that Selina was in love with somebody else. However, I haven't kept up with recent developments, so I don't know if there's another man in the picture either. Though I'd like to think that Bruce would be the father, I'm betting that he isn't - it would ruin his grim'n'gritty image, watching him cooing to and cuddling his newborn baby daughter (I'm guessing that Selina is going to have a girl too). 'Sides that, I think becoming a parent is the one thing that would make Bruce stop being Batman. His origin is so strongly rooted in losing his own parents. He knows the risks and danger he places himself into every night, that at any moment some punk might fire off a lucky shot or some super villain finally gets the upper hand and kills him. I can't imagine that he'd want his own child to possibly face the same loss and grief that he did as a kid. Granted, in current continuity, Bruce has officially adopted Dick and has offered to adopt Tim as well. However, the father-son dynamic of these relationships is incidental. Both Dick and Tim came to Bruce with strong attachments to their own parents, it was only over a long period of time that a father-son element developed between the boys and Bruce. With a newborn of his own, I imagine obviously that the father-child aspect would be there from the get-go. More than that though, being a Dad to a newborn would make Bruce happy (or so I believe), and a happy Bruce just doesn't equate to being Batman (not for me, anyway).

Wonder Woman's cancelled as of issue 226, relaunch/revamp pending. The rumor is that Diana will die or be depowered in IC and be replaced by Donna Troy in the new title, but this seems unlikely to me for various reasons...

I agree that Donna won't be Wonder Woman. Or to paraphrase what Lois Lane said about Donna Troy in the underappreciated Phil Jimenz run of WW: 'She's Wonder Woman Lite - just one calorie.' I like Donna, I do. However, she'll never be Wondy. There can only be one Wondy - and that's Diana. Whether it's Diana Prince or Diana of Themyscira or some new Diana all together, it's gotta be Diana and not Donna. Sure there was a brief window in time when it was Hippolyta wearing the star spangled shorts, but we all know such changes aren't permanent.

I think everything that could be done to Di has been done to Di as of IC #3. That alone is plenty of angst and excitement for a solo series. Putting her in such a dire state of affairs (ever so artfully rendered by Phil in that final panel of her fight against the OMACs) and then just passing on the reigns would be quite the cop-out.

Finally got IC #3 - I do like the 'no more Amazons' thing.

But I'm disappointed that Alexander Luthor is evil too - can't there be one good Luthor in some alternate universe somewhere that actually stays good? I always liked the concept of a good luthor (as in the Crime Syndicate stuff).

Was a pretty fun read.

Found myself wondering if Alex Luthor became evil in contrast to the constant presence of Superman E2.

If Superboy is indeed Silver age strong then even the current Superman's gonna have a hard time with him.

Loved the PURPLE DEATH RAY...

The 2 Luthors got a bit confusing. So Ex-President Luthor is the original who's now wearing armor and formed the secret 6 while the other luthor is actually Alex and formed the society as a ruse to gather the pieces of his project.

Or was Alex Luthor the Presidental one all along?

I also had no idea what the Dick Grayson reference was referring to, and I asked someone and they said that Earth 2 Dick Grayson died, so basically E2 Superman is asking Batman to kill Dick Grayson. How did Batman know?

This is correct.

Yeah, the Dick Grayson bit was weird. Also, since "our" Dick Grayson a few years ago sat back and allowed the femme fatale crazy superheroine he was hanging out with (and sleeping with) to shoot a villain with the intent to kill him (because the guy had been doing a real number on Dick's life and Dick was just over-exhausted and going a bit crazy), so I thought Johns was gonna have Ye Olde Supes say "see? Look, your Dick Grayson lets people murder bad guys! Our Dick Grayson would never do that!" (of course, the bad guy in question, Blockbuster, was later revealed to be not really dead after all, but Dick still felt guilty of course)

How did Earth-2 Batman die? And if he did die, how did Earth-2 Dick Grayson die?

As I recall E2 Bruce Wayne was assassinated after he had become Mayor of Gothom City.

not sure about E2 Robin, he was around long enough to see the previous Crisis.

The 'what about Dick Grayson?' bit rung hollow for me too. They made it sound like E-2 Grayson was a bad guy, as opposed to the Earth-1 Grayson who let's people get away with murder, trained Deathstroke's daughter, sleeps with about ten different women/alien princesses/godesses at any one time and throws temper tantrums every time somebody forgets to fill up the coffee maker at Outsiders HQ. Also, why just Dick Grayson? I mean, Batman's the centre of a force ten shitstorm in E-1, so doesn't he want to know that, should he go along with Superman-2's crazy scheme that Tim Drake, Batgirl et al. are having a good time in Jollyfunhappyworld? By highlighting this one particular flaw in Superman-2's logic, it sounds like Bats knows what happened in Earth-2, and he may be the World's Greatest Detective, but that only counts for one world at a time.
Also, if Batman and Catwoman have a baby, whether Bruce stays in the costume or not they're going to have a pretty serious problem from the villains who know Batman's alter-ego, namely Hush and the Riddler. You think D.C will have a promotion where you buy five comics in which Batman has to follow a trail of clues to find little Helena and you get the fifth free?

I thought they were reffering to the fact that Dick got out of Bat's shadow by becoming Nightwing, while E2 Dick remained Robin through out his life.

I thought all they were referring to was the fact that Dick Grayson is an unflappably decent human being, thus negating Kal-L's Earth 1/Earth 2 thesis. I don't know why everyone is reading so much into that line.

Aertho
04:38 / 29.12.05
Well, there's always the option of reading upthread to see what had already been asked and answered, but that'd be too much work.

That last link-to-post: I went into detail trying to describe my understanding of the phrasing, because I anticipated that others would also miss what was being said between Batman and Ye Olde Superman. If my details were still obtuse, I apologize. If my details were missed, well... c'est la vie.

Phex: Dorset Doom

Already did, the problem being that the Earth-2 Dick Grayson died during Crisis on Infinite Earths, which is why Superman-2 realises that some things aren't better on Earth-2, and that for all Batman would gain from joining up with E-2 Supes, he would also lose something.

Mario
10:39 / 29.12.05
Honestly, that one line has gained far too much prominence. The fact that E-2 Robin never became Nightwing, and is in fact dead may not even be relevant.

All that Kal-L said is that the E2 Dick Grayson is not a BETTER person than the post-Crisis. NOT that he is in some way inferior.

But, that still doesn't explain whether he's alive or dead. However, the 'lights' that usually signify his eyes seem to be out. Maybe he's having a nice nap, unaware of his body being used for eeevil.

As for Blockbuster and Nightwing, BB didn't come back to life so much as the storyline later revealed that he'd just been in the hospital from the gun wounds and put the word out to the underworld that he was dead to pull the wool over the underworld's eyes. So he could hide out and rebuild his empire in secret, or something like that.

Death of E2 Robin:
"In the final struggle against the Anti-Monitor's shadow-demons, Robin was slain trying to protect the injured Huntress (Crisis on Infinite Earths #12). He and Helena were laid to rest in simple ceremony by the JSA (Last Days of the Justice Society #1). However, with the death of the multiverse and stabilization of history, neither humanity nor the JSA remembers the Golden Age version of Robin, the Boy Wonder."

Death of E2 BATMAN:
"Bruce Wayne's final act as Batman came when Gotham City was threatened by an ex-convict named Bill Jensen, who had been granted super-powers by the sorcerer Frederic Vaux. Wayne attempted to arrest Jensen, and when he failed, took a Batman costume from the Gotham Museum and confronted Jensen as Batman. The two grappled and, in a final burst of power, Jensen destroyed both himself and Batman (Adventure Comics #461-462). Wayne was laid to rest beside his wife Selina on the grounds of Wayne Manor, and, after the defeat of Frederic Vaux, Doctor Fate erased from human memory the knowledge that Batman and Bruce Wayne were the same (Adventure Comics #463)."

Thanks!

I noted that The Shark or King Shark or whatever Shark villain was killed by Aquaman in #3, yet the new Aquaman series has either The Shark or King Shark (the latter of which was from Karl Kesel's Superboy series years back) alive and as a part of the action (from writer Kurt Busiek's comments on Newsarama about the new Aquaman series).

And who got killed by the shark dude? Some guy with a blue shirt with a triton logo on his chest? Didn't recognize him.

Kurt actually answered the question about King Shark. If you look at the advance art for the series (see here), you'll notice he has a fairly nasty-looking scar on his chest.
