Ah, that's probably from Mugen, the customisable universal fighting game.
It's freeware, but only works for Linux, last I heard.

Looks like a sprite art job. I've wanted a Marvel vs DC game by Capcom for aaaagggggeeeessss. My idea was when you get a super bar you could "merge" into an Amalagram Comics hero with more hitting power and better supers.

Was Shatterstar Longshot's son and where the Dicken's are they, and indeed all of the Mojoverse characters, hiding these days?

It's been hinted that he is his son. Longshot once joked about naming his child Shatterstar (Shatterstar's real name is Gaveedra 7). Beast said once that their DNA is a perfect match, and Spiral once informed him that he was the son of arize-spawn and a human. But he always thought he was just another test tube baby. That's about as far as they went with his origin story, except he once merged his essence with the dying Benjamin Russell, a lookalike from Boston. Since Shatterstar is from a hundred years in the future in another dimension, the possibilites here are pretty open.
He could be the child of Longshot and Dazzler who fulfills the prophecy of overthrowing Mojo and later returns from a century in the future.
He could be Benjamin Russell from Boston who lives in our time and has completed a time-loop for his own origin/death.
He could be one of any number of synthetic Mojo battle-clones bred for entertainment purposes, with Longshot being a clone as well.

The Shatterstar/Longshot/Dazzler thing is very convoluted.
There was also some hint of Spiral acting almost maternally toward Shatterstar (what ish I don't know). Also Dazzler was pregnant at one stage. What actually happened was never confirmed.
Unless it was resolved in the recent Shatterstar-centric x-force story. When I say story I'm assuming festering pile of crap though. Anyone read it?

Ofcourse not...I know exactly what you mean. The idea of having Wonder Woman take Lobo down with a 10 hit combo would make any sexual creature quiver.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows how many characters there were in the lineup and who they were? I've always felt there's a score in need of settling between The Martian Manhunter and Prof.X. Don't know why really...

Seeeee? I toldya it was Mugen. The only other do-it -yourself fighter is Street Fighter IBM, and that, despite the work of some real fanatics, is not really up to emulating modern 2-d fighters like Guilty Gear, Rage of Dragons, the V.S. series, etc.

As read to you from the official MutenFAQ:

"Unlike DOS and Linux, the freely available compilers for Windows are not sufficient for our purposes. Therefore the availability of a Windows port is constrained solely by the availability of a compiler for Windows. Compilers cost money, which we do not have.

There for a Macintosh version will probably never happen."

is Mugen available for mac? Or is there some way to run the linux version on mac osx?
I'm guessing 'no'.

hah? that's all, like - the WINDOWS gear isn't good enough to do what we want, so there'll never be a MAC version?

New question: Whatever happened to Baron Zemo? He had the coolest purple ski mask.
Oh boy. The answer to this one kinda sucks. Found it from the wikipedia listing for Baron Zemo.

"Zemo, having abandoned Heike to prison , organized a new team of Masters of Evil when the Avengers and Fantastic Four disappeared and were presumed dead. These Masters of Evil took false identities and called themselves the Thunderbolts . Zemo led them under the alias of Citizen V until the missing heroes returned and the Thunderbolts' identities were revealed. Zemo left the team and was later killed by the new Scourge of the Underworld , though his mind was transferred, in electronic form, into his ally Fixer 's mechanical "tech-pack". On the artificial world Counter-Earth - the same world to which the Avengers and Fantastic Four had vanished - the Thunderbolts encountered Zemo's counterpart in that world, Iron Cross. Fixer transferred Zemo's mind into his double's unmutilated body. Zemo then took up leadership of the Thunderbolts who were on Counter-Earth; when this group was reunited with their teammates who had remained on the normal Marvel Universe Earth, Hawkeye briefly resumed leadership but then left the team to return to the Avengers.
For a while Zemo remained the leader of the Thunderbolts. In 2004 's "Avengers/Thunderbolts" limited series he left the team, got his cloned body scarred while attempting to protect Captain America , and went into hiding after obtaining Moonstone's twin alien gems."

That makes very little sense (understandably), but what really irritates me is that Zemo tries to protect Cap. Did he see the error of his evil ways? What a trite way to ruin a villain with a sweet purple ski mask.

Jack Denfeld
06:06 / 19.08.05
And what a horrible bastard son too. Your dad's number one enemy, who for all you know is responsible for your father's death, and you try to protect him just because they're trying to turn you babyface over in Thunderbolts. Bah!

Jake, Colossus of Clout
06:51 / 19.08.05
That's horseshit, even though I kind of enjoyed the early Thunderbolts books. Zemo could be a really sweet second-tier Cap villain, kind of a Red Skull-lite. God knows Cap could use some more decent baddies.

And I know I've beat it to death, but I love his silly ski mask. He would be an easy Halloween costume. Generic ski mask + purple dye + some tin foil = Sweet Zemo costume.

Lord Morgue
08:18 / 19.08.05
So, Thunderbolts Zemo is Zemo 2, the son, right? The one who got his mask stuck to his face with adhesive X? Adrian Mole style? And wasn't there a female Zemo who had the original's mind? Zemo's one of those cool Cap villains, like Arnim Zola and Batroc, but he's never really found his niche, apart from sort-of killing Bucky. Well, at least giving Bucky the opportunity to blow himself up. What I never got was, if the stupid bomb was going to explode in mid-air anyway, why jump on the damn thing!?

Yes, Baron Zemo with the fur-lined neckline...yes.

While on the subject of dead...MUGEN, I was wondering what the deal with Agatha Harkness is. I read she's a decomposing corpse and the Scarlet Witch has been keeping her...well, animated. I must say I've always liked the old dear and her dastardly son and finding out that she is in fact dead has made me not like her that much anymore.

Oh, and speaking of wrinkly cadavers, Thor is dead right? But does anyone know how? I sure as gosh hope they didn't go for the old "He's the son of God sent to die for mankind" salida magnífica.

I'm not too hot on norse mythology, but I thought that Thor's death was supposed to hearald the start of Ragnarok or something, or maybe he was supposed to die stopping it or whatever. Thing about those Norse gods is that they die a lot. I hope they haven't tied in House of M as ragnarok or some lame thing like that.

" I was wondering what the deal with Agatha Harkness is."

I read in one of the MU handbooks that she is actually 10,000 years old or something, which ties her in to all kinds of ancient times hoo-ha. Very complicated!

What happened to Thor.

I have to admit, I find it ever so slightly poignant that none of the Avengers know about any of this, as mentioned in a recent New Avengers issue - as far as they know, Thor's just missing...

Agatha Harkness did die during Bendis' Avengers Disassembled storyline, right...? Sure seemed that way. Wanda killed her when she found out that Harkness had helped un-make her not-quite-real 'children.'

Agatha Harkness had apparently been dead for a very long time, suggesting that Wanda's mind will have been responsible for any modern appearance of the old witch. I always liked Agatha Harkness, and I hope someday they find a way to bring her back.

And yes, there's a great Hercules mini that just ended. Herc must complete the 12 Labors again as a contestant on a reality TV show with the Labors updated for modern Marvel audiences. It was a really funny comic, as Herc spends half the time drunk.

I never really got into that mini, bought the first issue, but it never really grabbed me. I did like the version of Hercules that popped up in the recent She-Hulk run which portrayed him in a similar kind of way really.

Didn't Hercules get Galactus superdrunk2000 in one of his older minis?

rabideyemovement

Not only did he get Galactus drunk, he also screwed his herald, Nova.
I miss Hercules. I first started reading Avengers in the eighties when Roger Stern was writing and John Buscema was drawing (with help from Palmer), and Hercules was my favorite at the time. I was only about eight years old and was very confused as to how Hercules got to exist in both the Marvel and DC universes and look different even still on his cartoon series. I thought they were all the same guy.
Here's a mythology question though. Whatever happened to the Skrulls that became ordinary cows? I read once that the people that drank their milk became shapeshifters too. Were they ever eaten? What series were they last seen in?
