It could be. Flat-chested adolescents spend hours worrying about their breasts. I should know, I spent years wondering when I was going to get some and it never *really* happened... it must be awful to be flat-chested and neurotic because that worry probably never leaves you.

Perhaps I have been harsh on Makosi: the "simpleton" thing was based on week 1, and I missed most of week 2. She's definitely the next likeable after Kemal. I also find myself wondering whether Anthony would become a lot more likeable if deprived of the company of Maxwell.

Yes, Sam should probably be the one to go. Compared to the rest of them she's a little dull (and it'll be hilarious for Saskia to have to live at least another week with R and D). But I think this massive dislike she's generating on various sites is a little harsh. She may be guilty of not living up to her audition recording, but then neither's Anthony.

Maybe it's just a natural urge of mine to side with the underdog but I'd like to see her stay in a little longer. Just to see how long Vanessa, Saskia, and co continue trying to eject her. She's the only one who is completely without allies.

Even those of you who don't like her have to give her credit for managing to keep going in the face of Moonpig's overwhelming hostility last week and the general isolation she's been experiencing since nearly the start. I haven't seen her threatening to walk yet, although that could just be editing.

There may just be a sliver of steel under that self-concious mess.

Fly, you're living in the past, Maxwell just doesn't deserve this much bile.

Maxwell to Roberto: "Jog on, you muggy psi."

Truly, his mastery of English is staggering in it's random inventiveness.

His "mama mia!" racism is, however, less inventive. He - thinks - you - are - really - fit - you're - fit - and - my - god - he's - a - wanker. I maintain that without him around, Anthony may open up a bit and adopt a less obnoxious form of blokeishness.

The speeddating has proved me wrong both about this series in general and Makosi in particular. There was one particular look she gave to camera just before descending upon Anthony like the knowledge of God, which said "Not a brain in his head, is there viewers, but he is a pretty thing."

Also capital K klassic: Roberto and Kemal's date. I reckon Roberto totally would, and I'd like to see him stay in just so once all the people who make him feel "disrespected" have left, we can get an insight into his more interesting forms of oddness.

Sam's lapdance was just painful. It was once said about Britney Spears that no virgin could dance like that, and the reverse is also true: nobody dances like that unless they are deeply repressed and insecure. She needs Makosi's help, perhaps.

Jordaskia and Derek... both of them have given me reasons to hate them before joining the house, but they're quite watchable together - their clashes slightly more graceful than those involving Science, Maxwell, Craig, etc.

All in all, a good night's viewing. Even Science apologised to Kemal and thus mildly redeemed himself. Well, sort of.

Sam and Roberto, with an eye to deflecting viewers' evicting voters this week, both pushing all the horny boats out to appear sexually intriguing. They don't know that Derek is a shoo-out, I suppose, and so have both put dignity in a Tesco's carrier bag and hidden it under their beds till Friday. They have caught on to the game, belatedly.

Corrigendum: just checking in on digitalspy.co.uk where Sam is now reported to be the bookies' favourite for eviction Friday. Wonder if her bumping and grinding has cost her or saved her?

Or perhaps Derek's been saved by the gayer-only eviction dodge of hilaaariously dragging up as a woman?

I'm just watching a bit of LAC, that's live action chatting to the uninitiated person. And they're walking as well. This is incredibly boring... Anthony appears to be pissing on the diary room door though that could be the awkward angle of the camera. Derek is asleep- wake up Derek! Saskia is gasping but I don't think it's that kind of gasping. Oh Derek just moved. Fascinating.

Dr G;

Are you saying there's anything you wouldn't do to save yourself from eviction, were you Derek, during this point in his BB narrative arc ?

02:44 / 17.06.05
Alex: I'm not sure I have a particularly good grasp of what's motivating Derek to stay in the House, so it's a little difficult to comment seriously on what he would and wouldn't do to avoid being booted out. He's variously explained himself in terms of having "made history" (the dubious honour of being the Only Black Gay In The Bigotfest) and wanting to do so again (presumably by being the Only Tory In Direct Contact With The 18-35 Demographic) and being at something of a crossroads in his life (as confirmed by his good friend Christine Hamilton, who also reckons Derek wants to act/get into television). As is common with the older housemates, he's done the willIwon'tIleave thing, and a couple of weeks ago, I'd have said he was genuinely wanting out.

Now, I'm not so sure. The slightly hysterical drag routine could've been his version of the Sniveller's half-arsed Britney turn (ie. I'm a man dressed as a woman! How kerrrazy is THAT, viewers?!) or he might've just wanted the release of assuming a different persona for a few minutes. As I say, I find it difficult to think myself into Derek's shoes: he does seem to have a habit of flourishing in hostile environments, or at least joining clubs which wouldn't want him as a member, so perhaps he's desperate to stay after all.

The Maxwell/Saskia thing is gonna end in tears...

Apparently Sam's now way out in front as tonight's evictee, which would leave the house with a 2:1 boy/girl ratio. Makosi's taken over from Max as favourite to win, though, possibly as a result of the latter's seemingly dwindling Saskiappeal.

Regrettable Juvenilia

Maxwell continued to follow Saskia, playfully slap her and generally pester her. He tried to push her off a chair into the pool and she was far from impressed.

Things are looking up. Does anyone believed that Maxwell will not fuck this up spectacularly?

maxwell does deserve hostility.

increasingly so.

ha ha ha

his armoury is looking depleted.

he built his appeal around: cheeeky chappy geezer links up wiv bird.

but his strategy is thin: earlier in the series he actually said, 'I'm the funniest guy in the house. Loads of people have said." oh dear.

He brought a catchphrase with him: "off the hook", the lifespan of which, is up.

His hostility towards Kemal and Science is dubious (yeah - I think he's a rascist goon)

His argument with Roberto: "Don't even look at me" kinda pish will have lost him loads cos big brother is not watched by hardmen and no one else likes that sorta stuff.

anthony (the simplist, dumbest boy contestant ever?) is slipping away from him too.

kill.

It. Must. Be. The ass.

He duly obliged, making Maxwell jealous. He wanted to know why Saskia hadn't asked him to smack her buns.

Falling... so fast, falling...

So far no one has questioned Science's behaviour, which is ironic, as they do most days.

I'm getting the impression (from here and elsewhere) this isn't a particularly good year. I was thinking about starting to watch (for work/research reasons)- good or bad time to start, would you say?

Ganesh
14:17 / 17.06.05
Don't think it's an especially good time to start, Stoatie. In complete contrast to Big Brother of two years ago (the really dull one which Cameron won), the problem here is too much conflict - and not enough of other types of interaction. Tellingly, the only tasks they've performed well in have been solitary ones; there's no sense of team spirit/bonding.

Things might change. The Maxwell/Saskia relationship may sour amusingly, and more stuff along the lines of the speed-dating task would be very welcome. I'm not sure I could recommend it to anyone not already (at least partly) invested.

Now, in order to be an equal-opportunity body fascist, here's a lovely shot of the bitch-titted Sniveller's kebab:

Less six-pack than twin-tub.

I, of course, am the very model of rippling abdominal perfection.

But, in the process, he could well race to the top of the Most Barbeloid charts - if he hasn't already missed the boat by voicing his should'vebeenmeness. A truly Barbeloid housemate would've silently noted that, when Saskia asked Science to smack her bottom a second time, there was a slightly strained note to her voice, indicating that she really wanted to watch cartoons with the Barbeloid One. This would, naturally, all be written up in an exhaustively detailed online blog.

Noooooo stoatie- i've been watching a bit this year but a coupla weeks in is when it gets good its never too late ( a week ago by significant other was refusing to watch any of it - last night she was the one demanding BB having got into it this week when i was working late)- less people to try and keep track of and firm patterns/ groups emerge only to get smashed by the voters outside and all that- could be fun...

That's not happened yet though, has it? Lesley's departure threatened to upset things a little, but Derek and pals are so convinced of their own superiority that it seems nothing could dent their shells. They don't see any need for them to make attempts to build bridges, so they don't.

The end of week three. We've already passed the 'couple of weeks in' stage and there's still no suggestion that any of the dynamics within the house will change, regardless of who goes. If Sam goes, as seems inevitable, nobody will notice. If she stays, she'll just continue to float around the edges of everybody's perception, never really there. If Roberto goes, Derek and Craig will still spend most of their time with each other complaining about the others. If Derek goes, it'll just be Roberto and Craig sticking together. This week's eviction is very unlikely to have any real effect whatsoever.

Haahahhaa! Good.

22:19 / 17.06.05
Sam was the right person to chuck out, I think, in that she was the least 'necessary' in terms of the House dynamic. As is usual with evictees, she came across in her Davina interview as considerably more appealling than she had done inside (although her hair looked terrible: lank, stringy, simultaneously greasy and dry).

I'd already been feeling quite sorry for Sam (again) after her day-of-possible-eviction interview in the Diary Room, when she reckoned her housemates would be happy to see her go because it'd be less competition, and also "because... they don't really like me". Even though she acquitted herself reasonably well with Davina, it was obvious that, Makosi aside, pretty much every female housemate mentioned wasn't the "type" of girl she normally gets on with. Conversely, she had only good words for every single male housemate, apparently not picking up on any of Derek's dislike of her.

I was glad she didn't get booed too much, and I was glad Davina made such an effort to jolly up Sam's interview. I won't miss her a great deal, and I think she was fatally repressed, socially speaking, but I didn't bear her any ill-will, really, and I hope she's not fucked up by the experience.

Science can actually seem quite sweet when he's not ranting and is happy. Then he starts shouting again and turns into a manic street preacher and blows the goodwill.

Odd that he couldn't bring himself to smack those last three housemates on the butt to earn bogroll. He had smacked other boys' butts so it can't have been simple sexual squeamishness surely.

And if big brave Maxwell and Anthony don't stop bullying Kemal, I'm going to have to hex them both. Or break into the House and smack them down to size. Always Kemal they pick on. Shits.

Saskia doesn't need to be all that smart to run rings round those two.

True, but she risks becoming the hate-focus of the "all women are whores" tabloid contingent, which never really had time to work up a decent head of bile about Sam (who, unusually for a 'cocktease' housemate, seemed more reviled within the House than without).

Then again, it'd be nice if this didn't happen for one year.
