GARRRRRGH.
Our mortgage lender are holding up our loan because, get this, the name on our application, my legal name (John Feerick) is not the same as the name on my W-2 forms or my freelance paychecks (Jack Feerick).
What.
The.
FUCK.
Now I've got to, at a minimum, get a notarized document saying that yes, this is my nickname, and yes, my bank cashes checks written out to either name, and there's been no attempt to deceive anyone; I may even have to go to an attorney and file a d/b/a document, thus giving my own fucking name an independent quasi-corporate existence.
I can't help wondering if they'd do the same for a James/Jim or a William/Bill. Is "Jack" really that uncommon, that intelligent professional people don't simply take it read that "John Feerick" and "Jack Feerick" are the same fucking person?
Or is it simply that (as I suspect) the people at our mortgage lender are sadistic, power-drunk fucks, and, owing to our spotless credit rating and immaculately-kept financial records, lacking any legitimate reason to run us through the usual round of hoops, are simply seizing upon whatever ridiculous niggling detail they can find so that they will not be denied the pleasure of seeing us jump when they say so? |
