I'm just writing this here because I want to make sure I remember it right and I don't think I'm going to have any other place to say it.

And please, no huggles for this because I'm not sad, I'm angry.

Just had to pull my dad off my little brother (17 years old) by his hair. Then I pushed him to the ground and punched him in the back a few times, so he'd stay down.

My dad started bollocking me. I told him not to be a dick. He's gone out to do shopping. My little brother just sarted bollocking me to. Then tried to start a fight with me because I'd stepped into "his battle". Then he started going after me yelling about how I was pretentious and unmanly. This after pulling a man off him and keeping him down with violence.

Why the fuck am I in trouble because my aspergers family can't deal with an argument about garlic bread?

And there's nothing I can do about it or about how I feel or how fucking aggrived I'm feeling. Because if I go and act like a dick it means my Mom has to deal with all 3 of us.

But what I want to do is have a fight with them. I want to have an actual fight with them, and kick the shit out of them. Because I think it's unfair that I have to act like a good person when they can't be bothered. I'm angry that they could be that selfish and fucking stupid.

But I won't because I take responsibility for my actions. I'll stay till my Mom is in, so I can explain the haps, and then I'm going out for a walk.

Fuckers. Selfish fuckers.

And I don't have a coping mechanism for this other than "be angry in my head and hope it goes away for a while".

Fuckers.

RAGE! Jaw dropping fuckheadedness! The U.S.A. is doomed! Just saw this on the front page of wikipedia:

Did you know... that President Bush has indicated he may use the third veto of his Presidency on the Matthew Shepard Act?

What's the Matthew Shepard act I hear you cry? It's another name for The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2007 which would expand the 1969 United States federal hate-crime law to include crimes motivated by a victim's actual or perceived gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability. ...named after Matthew Sheperd, an American student killed in 1998 in a hate crime.
He's going to VETO that? WTF? Where is the Switchboard thread on this?

Holy shit. It gets worse:
James Dobson, founder of socially conservative lobbying group Focus on the Family, opposed the Act, arguing that it would effectively "muzzle people of faith who dare to express their moral and biblical concerns about homosexuality."
GAAAH! WTF? WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?!

Unfortunately, the only time you see politicians address the Matthew Shepard Act is to try to tie to it some low-level verbal comment or something and then make fun of how silly and ineffective the Act is.

As a whole, those who would rather pretend the horrible horrible stuff doesn't happen are the ones it isn't happening to. We're to blame the victim to make the aggressor's and their ilk feel better about themselves. We've been teaching in schools that racism, sexism, and intolerance have ended a long time ago (and that's why it's okeh to have a kill the Iraqi cheer in a gradeschool class room). When every citizen in the US, if they aren't lying to themselves, knows hate crimes of a really violent nature are going on probably an average of one per hour in a mile radius from where they're standing.

And because the people fighting against that are often so focused on covering their own backs, with little cross-over to other similar hateful acts and aggression on other people, it's easy for the aggressor's and their supporters to claim it's a single group pushing for 'special rights' or something. It's always a 'special group' pushing for 'special rights' like don't hang us from a fence and torture us, don't put a chain around our neck and drag us behind a pick-up truck in front of children, don't ignore the fact people of certain ethnicity end up dead in a field by the same Plains border town all the damned time.

Not that's better elsewhere, and please, nobody feel I'm claiming the States have a hold on this. We're all fucked. A friend of mine is trying to get his kids (currently somewhere in England) over here with him, since he found out his ex is smacking their daughter for trying to say she's gay. And I believe it's coming up on the anniversary of the confirmation that that guy in Canada was killing young women and little girls (still no full count) - which enough people had suspected, and nobody was dealing with, because there was concern it might enflame racial tensions.

I'm really tired of having at least one thought a day that makes me nearly throw up.

On Barbelith:

Spend James Dobson's money.

and

Mentioned in discussion on the Moonies running everything. (No, Dobson is not a Moonie.)

On wikipedia:

James Dobson.

His radio show is broadcast in more than a dozen languages and on over 6,000 stations worldwide, and heard daily by more than 200 million people in 164 countries.

James Dobson is a strong proponent of patriarchal marriage. He believes that women are not inferior to men because both are created in God's image. However, roles in marriage require the wife to submit to her husband's authority, deferring to his decision in matters of conflict.[5] He has supported Christian men's organization such as Promise Keepers who advocate for similar views. He recommends that married women with children under the age of 18 focus on parenting, rather than work for income outside the home.[6] In his opinion, the call for men to lead isn't limited to the home, but reaches into both the church and government. He is highly critical of efforts to increase a female presence of leadership in these realms of authority.[7]

In the 2004 book Marriage Under Fire: Why We Must Win This Battle, Dobson outlines his view of traditional marriage. Dobson suggests that falling heterosexual marriage rates in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway are due to the recognition of same-sex relationships by political leaders in those countries during the 1990s (pp. 8-9). He remarks that traditional marriage "is rapidly dying" in these countries as a result, with "most couples cohabiting or choosing to remain single" and illegitimacy rates rising in some areas of Norway up to 80%. Dobson writes that "every civilization in the world has been built upon [heterosexual marriage]," (p. 7) and describes the institution of marriage as "the bedrock of culture in Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, South America, Australia, and even Antarctica" (p. 8). He also believes that homosexuality is "curable."

He's also a licensed psychologist in California, and the owner of the family.org domain name.

I honestly never had. Norsefire much?

Not that it's better elsewhere

I know what you mean, but I have to disagree a little bit. Our premier isn't vetoing a law that maight help prosecute perpetrators of hate crime. The Home Office site says
The Crime and Disorder Act 1998 created a range of new racially and religiously aggravated offences
The Criminal Justice Act 2003 introduced tougher sentences for offences motivated by hatred of the victim’s sexual orientation (this must now be taken into account by the sentencing court as an aggravating factor, in addition to race or religious hate motivation).

and there's

*A new Racial and Religious Hatred Act*
Parliament approved a bill on 31 January 2006 that made it a criminal offence to use threatening words or behaviour with the intention of stirring up hatred against any group of people defined by their religious beliefs or lack of religious beliefs.

The bill gained Royal Assent on 16 February. Any prosecutions under the Act, when commenced, will require the consent of the Attorney General.

I don't want to states-bash and I know we've all got problems but in the US the problem is in charge.

Point taken. So, I shall ammend: Not that it's better everywhere. I'm still reeling from a reporter on CNN announcing their surprise at a violent outbreak in Haiti, because they 'have such a peaceful history.'

And, actually, if those matters listed above are being legally enforced - actually, and regularly enforced when necessary - that's really pretty impressive.

No, sirree! I'm simply making the point that the homosexual community is hardly an oppressed, powerless minority seeking protection under the law. You have Hollywood, the press, the media, the universities, the publishers, the professionals (in the American Bar Association, American Medical Association, etc.), and the judiciary enforcing your "politically correct" agenda.

Conservative Christians, by contrast, are stranded pretty much on their own. Given this undergirding, I hope you can see that our opposition to the gay and lesbian tidal wave is not an expression of hate but one of social justice and common sense.

Well, fuck me softly with a chainsaw, Heather.

Tidal wave? Really?

You mean I'm expected to go surfing now? Is there room in the Gay Agenda for that? Between brunch at eleven-thirty and cocktails at three, I'm fairly booked up for the daylight hours, and then there's all that exhaustive recruiting pencilled in. I'm not sure I can handle surfing in on a tidal wave* of destruction, but maybe we can just wear tight wetsuits during the early evening bacchanal?

Also: undergirding? Is he talking about underwear now? Are homosexuals in the entertainment industry now North America's metaphorical underpants? Does Dobson want the world to go commando?

*- possibly we are the second Flood?

Not perfectly, but not badly- especially in employment law. For example a wiccan in my area is involved in an unfair dismissal case at the moment based on discrimination against her based on her beliefs. (The local paper headline was 'SACKED FOR BEING A WITCH!' predictably)

grant- I hate you but I love you, I love you because you're great but I hate you for that link, where the question could have been written by someone from Barbelith and the response includes Regardless of what the media may say, Focus on the Family has no interest in promoting hatred toward homosexuals or any other group of our fellow human beings. We have not supported, and will never support, legislation aimed at depriving them of their basic constitutional rights -- rights they share with every citizen WRITTEN BY THE GUY WHO IS SUPPORTING LEGISLATION DEPRIVING THEM OF THEIR BASIC RIGHTS the hypocrytical bastard, who also says He is but one of thousands of people being discriminated against today because of their Christian beliefs and The average homosexual earns $55,000 per year, compared with $32,000 for heterosexuals GAH! and Gays also have a much higher percentage of college degrees than the straight population and the federal government spent 39 times as much on AIDS last year as it did on heart disease and you have Hollywood, the press, the media, the universities, the publishers, the professionals (in the American Bar Association, American Medical Association, etc.), and the judiciary enforcing your "politically correct" agenda and and and...

And I'm not even gay. I can only imagine how much this fuck would upset me if I were queer, I feel like I should apologise for all het people, I'm ashamed to share an orientation with him. Maybe I could claim to be technically bi because some people suggest everyone is. Or something.

Quants, pal o mine, those of us in the US who are queer are by and large not in the least surprised about Focus on the Family, or that Dubya would rather continue to see us killed than make the statement that it's not okay to kill us. We all want to fix it, but the majority of us are going "Please just let the next one stop this madness." It's unconscionable, because of the GLBT people who will die or be beaten up or be denied employment or housing between now and then, but I'm doing the same thing.

But it's not surprising at all. We deserve it, really, for controlling Hollywood. And banki--oh wait that's Jews. Anyway, for tearing out the pages of Bibles that say that Jesus hates gays and that loving your neighbor as your fuckbuddy is worse than murder and possibly even worse than wearing clothes of mixed fibers. And for using the Teletubbies and Spongebob Squarepants to force all those unsuspecting kids to become gay Satanist transsexual invertebrates with televisions in their bellies. Most of all, for legislating mandatory bad wigs and sequined pumps on Capitol Hill on Drag Queen Fridays. That was pretty evil of us, I have to admit.

PS: If you've decided to be bi now, and it's about fucking time, what are you doing next Friday?
