Yeah, well, that's part of the problem. It doesn't, and the smell is bothering the neighbours...

Oh FFS, it isn't that bad.

The Temple has attracted some very lovely people as well. A little fart in the forum happens once in a while. Yeah, they can be unforgettable, but please try to remember there are some roses in the garden.

It's not exactly the Temple, or not solely the Temple, more precisely. A number of people who end up causing problems are here for the majick simple, but I think a larger number are here because the Invisibules has turned them on to a new world, part of which is t3h Khaos Majicks.

Still, such is life.

For April Fools Day, Tom should set barbelith.com to redirect to Byrne Robotics.

I'm moderately barbannoyed that I haven't really had any time lately to post anything of value on the Lith.

How about redirecting it to the Fetch's blog instead.

Magick fucking Johnson, a.k.a Glenn Medeiros.
Over in Modding the Temple. I can't even bother to link.

Where is that fucking garden I was talking about earlier?
It's not all bad. It isn't. There are a lot of lovely people here. Look! There is XK, and Kangourou, and Id, and archabyss, and ooh lookie...Quantum! and is that Stoats? Yes! Oh, who is this new Unconditional person? They seem nice, YAY! It will be alright. Remember the best.

The here and there general sentiments I could get behind that are then contextualized in the most fuckwitted miserable connotations so I can't. Sometimes from the worst of posters, sometimes from some of the better.

And, in echo of someone's above, myself, for not posting more of real value on the 'lith these days. (Which is a straight line waiting for a zinger, but so be it.)

MASSIVE POWER ISSUES!

ONLY NICE THINGS

Things which the chap has so far found to be evidence of dreafdulness worth drawing attention to:

1) Not using his current name.
2) A typo.
3) The terribly sexist word "douche".
4) AB's massive power issues.

Great zedoktar/Vladimir J Baptiste "I'm sorry... sorry you suck!" apology here, as well.

It's unfortunate. After the latest "look at me!" in the Head Shop, I did use the ignore button, but it seems that we still have personal attacks as well as simple irrelevance, and in fora I moderate, so that's no good. Ah, well.

Aunt Beast, did it never occur to you, not even for a split second, to entertain the notion that I might not have been 100% serious in my use of the word 'muggle' at the beginning of that thread? Not unserious in an Original Tricksta stylee, but unserious because it's a phrase from a poorly written, rather ideologically suspect series of books marketed at children and unimaginative adults? You might remember a while back me expressing all sorts of doubts about the use of words such as 'mundane' 'muggle' etc. in the Temple Huggle a Muggle Thread.

Other than that, more power to your elbow.

Chum, the thought crossed my mind. (The though has repeatedly crossed my mind that you have got to be a jokesuit.)

You might remember that the "Imagine..." thread attracted a fair amount of criticism for its underlying assumptions and general tone, which tended to inform my reading of the term "muggle." I can accept that I misjudged; hopefully you can see why.

OK. Time out.

Medeiros, what exactly do you feel that you are getting out of this? How do you feel this is going to result in a positive outcome for you or for this social environment? Have you noted a pattern in how these interactions go? Do you understand the meaning of the term "without prejudice", and how it is used in correspondence? Do you find it significant that nobody else is seeing the massive power issues you see afflicting Mordant?

Have you noted a pattern in how these interactions go?

Not sure exactly what you mean by 'these interactions', old boy. If you mean my interactions with Mordant / Live Things / Aunt Beast, I think the pattern they make is that of a Viking, but a nice sort of Viking - the kind that pitches up in their longboat not with an axe but with a well-thumbed copy of 'Jonathan Livingstone Seagull'.

Do you understand the meaning of the term "without prejudice"

Well, lawyer friends tell me that it is used (esp. in correspondence) to indicate that no legal rights or privileges have been determined, lost or waived. Myself, I prefer George Michael's use of the term in the title of his album Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1. Partly because the singer (then involved in a lawsuit with his record company) seemed to think that throwing a dimly understood bit of legalise into the pot would make him sound clever, but mostly 'cause he shares his initials with me and - not that I need to remind you, but still - the earth's second mightiest magician, and second best comics writer. While Wham! GM sung that "All we have to do now / Is take these lies and make them true somehow" in his groundbreaking single 'Freedom '90', the other GM asked, only a few years later in Barbelith's favourite comic, The Invisibles, the searching question: 'What if it were all true?'. The influence of the Greek on the Scot recalls, to my mind at least, that of Socrates on Plato.

Do you find it significant that nobody else is seeing the massive power issues you see afflicting Mordant?

I'm not sure that nobody else has noticed this, but if you mean that none of the small number of Barbelith members who commented on my post agreed with me, you would of course be factually correct. I can't infer from this, of course, that there is a silent majority who nodded in agreement with my post, but did not leap textually to my side (for fear, mayhap, of terrible persecution by a small number of high profile posters?), but then again it cannot be ruled out as a possibility. However, the large number of PMs I have received (the contents of which, of course, I could not in good conscience reproduce here) seems to indicate considerable support for my position. These individuals must remain Invisible.

(The though has repeatedly crossed my mind that you have got to be a jokesuit.)

Mine too, Aunt Beast, mine too.

Erm... if people not throwing their hats in means tacit agreement for one side or another, which seems a little unfair to say the least, then I'll chuck mine on Auntie's pile. Apart from anything else, I'd trust her to give it back to me when the fight was over.

And you also have lovely MASSIVE POWER ISSUES. Which, if that's the name of your big fuck-off norsey fighting hammer, even better. For the cold, harsh wintry seas where they haven't got fresh copies of the seagull book onsale and you're forced to make due with the latest Crichton or gimmicky ethnographic timespender from Harcourt.

Well, the moment these invisible friends feel sufficiently involved to come forward and actually speak their brains, we can see if their positions are competently articulated or convincing.

Meanwhile, it seems that you have retreated into either obfuscatory, highly symbolic or simply irrelevant responses. Again, do you feel that this is a useful thing for you to do? Is it getting respect from these reported private message supporters, and is that sufficient validation for it to seem like a good idea in your interactions with Barbelith?

I couldn't, in good conscience, announce that I have received approximately 26 PMs (From Forum Veterans, I Assure) demanding that I rise up and lead the disenfranchised in a bloody coup against General Aunt Beasts regime, and have myself installed as head moderator.

So I won't.

I am watching, and waiting. Mark my words.

On a post-it or something, somewhere you'll notice every so often and be struck with the fear all over again.

I myself have a friend who lives with terrible persecution daily, from one beastly high profile poster.

Perhaps we should listen more carefully to the nods of the silent majority.

But don't you see that they're scared, Haus, just too damned scared. They like Terry Pratchett and the Kaiser Chiefs. They want to annotate Morrison's Zoids run with a separate thread for each panel. They don't want a leader, but they do want their Freedom ('90).

You're a clever chap, but It might be worth looking again at this exchange between AB and me:

AB: (The though has repeatedly crossed my mind that you have got to be a jokesuit.)

Me: Mine too, Aunt Beast, mine too.

Thing is, really, given that we're interacting in a medium in which one's own words are, well, WHAT THEY ARE, it'd be good to see some of 'em. I'd be far more inclined to trust the words of someone who actually has some.

Aunt Beast has many. And I think, on the whole, they're pretty good. Weighed against what could be a HUGE amount, allegedly, but none of which we get to actually see, I'd have to say...

...well, I'll put my money on those I can actually see and which make a lot of sense, rather than those which MAY be there, and whose voices I have yet to hear.

It's a gambling thing, I guess.

Well, if he's just a jokesuit, does that mean he is entitled to some form of Lear's fool protected speech? This is coming across as fnording to divert attention from a personal attack, but I suppose the entire thing could just be a baroque fnord...
