Didn't Rose give her phone to Mickey?

A wizard did it!

And when they said about the view of the black hole driving people mad, it seemed like it had happened to lots of people. Who were they?

See, I thought that could've been a good bit of foreshadowing. Maybe they're all mad etc.

Who reckons Satan gets blasted into that cosmic asophagus?

She got an upgrade. No-prize please.

All answers satisfactory. I can safely go back to "fuck yeah"-ing again.

Okay, on the topic of "what did The Doctor say..?" I have another question for those who might be in a better position to understand what he's saying. When he's remarking to Rose about the various features of his space suit, just before heading down the lift, what is it he says?

Can I just say "WOW" about using the door opening sound effect from Doom, and having a picture of a cyberdaemon appear in the holo-display. Should have been shown today instead though.

Pity the Tardis is out of action. The Doc could have popped back to Earth and picked up a certain Brigadier and his trusty service revolver (loaded with silver bullets).

Steely glare.

"Get off my planet."

Blam! Blam!

Smoke that mutha-hubbard like it 'ain't no thang!

Didn't Rose give her phone to Mickey?

Or or or she got another one from the Tardis' Infinity Wardrobe.

The BBC have updated the Doctor Who website with images from the upcoming episode, including what seems to be an image of the beast. The homage to Doom continues.

Mouse over the guy at the back, fourth from the left, and he 100% definitely says Trogdor. Where does that leave us?

I can't believe you just called Trogdor a Cartoon Dragon. You are so burninated.
Oh wait, you said 'Trodgor'. That's alright then.
Maybe you should take a little peek at the rest of the thread before posting?

What with all of the "incubating under a black sun" business I think Triplets was right. Some Glint Mozzelcum inspiration for the writer of this one.

Though the 'Order of the Black Sun' did appear in the Dr Who Monthly comic strip, back in the 80s, attacking Gallifrey. According to Wikipedia that was a story by Mr A Moore.

O, how I enjoyed this story. I feel a Dr Who recipe is beginning to take shape: jokes + death + crying + weird-looking things.

I just saw the teaser for "The Satan Pit." With horrifying face. It caught me unawares.

I think I've wet myself.

He TOTALLY DOES say Trogdor!!!

That's so cool.

The Beast is being voiced by the same actor as Sutekh, so it may have been a bit redundant.

I think that was my favorite episode so far this season.

I like that the voice-over-credits guy told viewers to look away to avoid seeing the teaser for the next episode.

It's part of the whole culture of *everybody* watching Dr Who, even the continuity announcers...

I like that Who is "event" television. Not being into sport, I feel like I'm kind of missing out on all the World Cup camaraderie. There's something comforting about knowing that when you sit down to watch Who (except on the weeks when I d/l it, obviously) a shitload of likeminded people are doing the exact same thing at the exact same time and going "FUCKING HELL!!!" at the exact same bits.

I am behind currently.

I only need "The Idiot's Lantern" (btw, seriously, Elvis hair on Tennant? *gag*) and "The Impossible Planet." "The Satan Pit," I'll have to wait another week for.

"The Satan Pit" hasn't been on over here yet- it's this weekend. Ooh, but you'll love "The Impossible Planet". It's fucking fantastic. As Christopher Ecclestone's Doctor would no doubt say if he were swearier.

That's why I figured I wouldn't be able to get a copy of "The Satan Pit" until a week from today. (It airs over there on Saturdays, right?)

Most people go out and have lives on weekends. No, I stay home watch my backlog of series two episodes.

How tragic.

Who needs a life when you can watch the Doctor fighting Satan???

Having always been avoidant when it comes to following team-sport of any kind (I'd rather remove my finger nails with a door-stop than sit down and watch the latest football match) I think watching Doctor Who is the closest it gets for me and some other fans of the show (I'll stop short of calling myself a Whovian, but only because I'm currently vacationing from Self-Awaria) to supporting a football team.

There's the trepidation, the anxiety, and hopefully if all goes well on a Saturday and the episode is a success, the elation that I associate with how a follower of Manchester United or whoever must feel after a match.

As always, Stoatie knows how to cheer me up.

The Doctor vs. Satan?

Take that, World Cup.

Yeah, but she did pop home between episodes. Can you imagine Rose not getting a new phone when so could?

Tennant mentioned in this month's SFX (boo, hiss, etc) that he wants his Doctor to be a role model for all children, but especially those that aren't into sports. My warm, secret feelings for this man increase by the day. Also, in other (sort of) season 2 news, it has been announced that Tennant will be reading the newly released tenth Doctor novels on the audio versions.

I'm sure that his constant use of the word huuummanss, which is sounding more like a non-sports ingerland chant to me everyday will provide that parallel.

That was ace. Speaking as possibly the only person in the world who enjoyed the movie Ghosts Of Mars... THAT's what GoM should have been like.

Ace ace ace.

I'm relieved it wasn't Slayer in the pit... I reckon the Doctor would have been fucked had that been the case.

Slightly disappointed it wasn't a giant Trogdor though. That would have ruled.

This thread should be rammed right now.

Please God don't tell me everyone decided to have a football day instead of a Who day.

Cybermen hate football, everyone's too fast.

Bloody good second half. Nice to see Rose organising the troops to get things sorted out.

Shame they capped all of the Ood, but the list of the dead at the end was a nice touch.

Anyone else pick up the reference to Draconia?

Nice Rose/Doctor relationship stuff too.

And before everyone else gets back from the pub and starts whining about the "obligatory Torchwood reference", I like that shit. And I like the ambition of having one there. The backstory for the spinoff show now includes a hell of a lot of forwardstory.
