So, it has now been confirmed that the second season will start its run on April 15.

The first press screenings have already taken place.

We are just over two weeks away from new Who WHaHOOOO

So get excited, speculate what might be to come, and when the time comes, we'll talk about all those lovely new episodes...

I move to rename the thread to Doctor Who: Season 2 UK and US for all the filthy filthy downloaders

As an American who will DL this at first chance, I gotta say I am totally psyched to watch it, then read what people have to say about it.

For anyone keeping score at home: New Who series one discussion (UK), Christmas special discussion (UK) and spoilery discussions between series one and two (UK). We return you to your regularly scheduled thread...

OK - Mod hat. Our experience from last year suggests that some people want to use every resource availbale to them to find out what happens in future episodes of Dr. Who, whereas other people are equally eager to keep themselves away from any such info. So, can I propose that we make this thread non-spoilers, and limit it to discussion of the content of the actual episodes, with speculation on future events to be based on the content of those episodes rather than leaks, preview tapes or spoiler sites? We can then have a "Dr. Who Series 2 Spoilers for future episodes" thread for people to discuss upcoming episodes with reference to the aforementioned and other aids.

Sound reasonable? I'd like to avoid a repeat of last year's acrimony...

Can we discuss what was seen in the Christmas ep's S2 trailer and speculate a little from that?

Gor blimey, I'd forgotten about that - there were people last time round who were not watching the trailers at the end of the episodes, weren't there?

Well, hmm. My instinct is to say that that's probably in-court - I think I wouldn't, ultimately, be able to object to that, as it's kind of a part of the programme. On the other hand, a purist might say that the cliffhanger is part of the Who experience, so the trailers should be discussed in a spoiler-friendly thread.

I mean, I'm _sure_ that everyone watched the trailer at the end of the Christmas Invasion, but if it's a trailer in between two sections of a two-parter, that's trickier. What does everyone think?

Hmm, I reckon that anything that has been broadcast on terrestial telly is up for speculative grabs. If we put anything out of bounds simply because someone might not have watched it we'll be in a right old pickle.

Yeah, go for the most obvious, intuitive interpretation: you talk about the episode, including the end trailer, once it's been shown on proper telly for the first time, anything anyone knows before that is a spoiler.

OMG SPOILERS!!!!!! ECT

Apparently the Cybermen are in it, you know. And the doctor will be played by David Tennant.

I read an article in the guardian...

Sorry, being in the states I always feel left out...

On the subject of trailers and spoilers, I think it depends how spoilery said trailers are. For example I kicked up a (very measured) fuss about the US Lost trailers in the Lost US thread as they tend to be incredibly spoilerific - so much so that the show's creators commented about the network's reckless attitude towards spoilers in the podcast.

Well, with the notable exception of the daleks, the Dr Who trailers for season one weren't to spoiler filled - I mean the main pre-series one trailers were entirely original and featured footage that didn't appear anywhere inthe series proper...

And apparently season two will also have its own specially shot trailers - the first of which is to be broadcast this saturday...

Oh, and in case it's not been mentioned elsewhere, the 15th April is the official start date.

Any chance season 2 will be run on BBC America?

*crosses fingers*

Please say yes....

Unlikely - especially if the corporation is getting money from places like the sci-fi channel, even though I think Sci-fi has only a fraction of the audience that Dr Who actually appeals to...

Ooooohhhh....

TWO FUCKING WEEKS???

Not to belittle the pain of our American friends, but TWO WHOLE FUCKING WEEKS???

Weird... I waited 16 years for the last series, and now the gap between that one and this seems immense by comparison...

Well there is more extra content coming out with this series in the shape of Tardisodes - 60 second episodes downloadable to mobile phones and on the website... I hope they don't kill the new who in overmerchandising...

Twenty seven years ago Boboss was watching Dr Who from the safety of behindthesofa.

It's weird - and really brilliant, actually - to think that my son may well end up doing the same thing.

As well as the links Not a Real Lady of the Flowers posted, Micky's website's been updated, as has the UNIT website. The log in for the UNIT site secure area is badwolf.

The secure area has a memo about the auctioning of an unresponsive alien lifeform, which would be the dalek, and a profile of Rose.

From a memo concerning Guinevere One:

"Sgt Catherine Petts: TURN ON THE TV NOW!

Have you seen what's on TV? The aliens have started up their own TV channel. Bang! On terrestrial, digital, cable, satellite, swanky mobile phones, and even behind the bloody red button.

PS: Anyone care to bet how long it is before they start flogging jewelry on it?"

The general trailer for the new series is our now, echoing the first Christopher Eccleston trailers from last year. In addition to that we have the first of the 'tardisodes' 1 minute trailers for each individual episode that can be downloaded to your mobile phone or viewed on the web...

So did anyone else watch Doctor Who night on BBC3 on Sunday evening - quite a few sneek peaks into the new season there, but heavily tilted towards the first three episodes and the Cybermen 2-parter... I have a feeling that there are some surprizes instore...

There was also some stuff on Torchwood, apparently Captain Jack finagles his way back from the future on some kind of time ship and heads back to Cardiff on the grounds that A) there is a big time rift there, B) He know the Doctor has travelled there before and is more than likely to go there again and C) because Torchwood's production is based there...

No, I didn't watch it... partly because I didn't really want to know any of that yet...

Oy Rose, keep those lips off the Doctor! God I hope there's a story reason for that...

I tend to rant on my blog about the sexual tension between the Doctor and Rose. Of course, there's quite a bit of jealousy that stems from said ranting....

(I refer to season one, BTW)

Well, the BBC website would seem to have told me everything to expect in Saturday's episode, although more encouragingly it would seem the Sunday repeat on digital is being broadcast with a commentary.

Hang on a minute - is it starting again this weekend? Did I just literally find that out right now?! That's insane. I'm so completely out of it.
