umm... so I'm a bit late to the party (SciFi-type late), but I keep trying to figure out why exactly the Doctor can't make it to Rose's new world at the end of the season... he'll still be traveling to other alternate places and times, correct? so is the void only between Rose's new and old worlds? it doesn't seem so to me. if it was between all possible worlds as the Doctor said, he either would only be able to move forward and backward in one reality -- limiting his time movement greatly -- or, well, I don't know. it's as if they're just saying he can't go there to that one specific world which doesn't seem to make sense to me. am I missing some critical piece of Who knowledge that might explain this?

A couple of the episodes leading up to the finale touched on the idea that the ability to move between parallel universes, in a directed and purposeful fashion at least, had been effectively lost since the destruction of the Time Lords in the war with the Daleks. I don't remember how the TARDIS originally got to alterna-Cyber-Earth, but I gather the Cybermen were only able to get to Rose's Earth by somehow exploiting a crack between universes generated by the lost Gallifreyan void ship.

How does everyone see the Christmas special turning out? Personally, I'm looking forward to it, but then I might be disappointed, seeing as how I would like to see everyone involved with this ghastly show publicly eviscerated live on national television. Instead of 'Come Ballroom' or whatever that other bloody thing's called.

Here in the 'retirement community', you can't just change the channel ...

Twas good, indeed.

(I can't actually form coherent sentences very well at the moment. So you'll have to stick with 'twas good'. For now. Hopefully.)

Much better than I thought it would be, anyways, but that's because I have a self-admittedly completely irrational dislike to Catherine Tate.

Also; spoilers!

In the teaser clips at the end, was I hallucinating when I saw someone that looked a lot like Christopher Eccleston?

Let's be honest now; I almost definitely was.

(No-one tell Kali, anyway.)

I have very good ears when it comes to Eccleston.

I did enjoy it, certainly more than last year's episode where, despite the fun of watching the PM, Rose, Jacqui and Mickey run around, every minute the Doctor was unconscious was a drag. This was much more fun and the first time I've seen Catherine Tate and not wanted to slap her. I'm torn over the necessity for the whole 'Batman needs a Robin' thing they had going on, coming at it from the direction of season two it was nice to see some fallout from the Doctor and Rose being parted in the way they were, a nicely stated acknowledgement of consequences (again, Doctor Who dealing with things in a more adult way than TW), but coming from the direction of season three I hope they don't just make the new companion the 'new Rose' in the same way that Doctor Tennant was largely Doctor Ecclestone without the angst.

The only negative thing I have to say about the new series is 'Daleks again?' The BBC have already confirmed a third Christmas special and a fourth series, could we not perhaps give the Skaroids a bit of a break now?

Nobody has mentioned 'The Master'. Season one gave us 'The Daleks' and season two gave us 'The Cybermen'. If the third season is going to continue in the same way and introduce a classic bad-guy it can only be 'The Master'!!

So can I hit you with who's been cast as The Master (allegedly)?

I heard this and I was awestruck...

Already been done. Over in the Runaway Bride thread.
