I did enjoy it, certainly more than last year's episode where, despite the fun of watching the PM, Rose, Jacqui and Mickey run around, every minute the Doctor was unconscious was a drag. This was much more fun and the first time I've seen Catherine Tate and not wanted to slap her. I'm torn over the necessity for the whole 'Batman needs a Robin' thing they had going on, coming at it from the direction of season two it was nice to see some fallout from the Doctor and Rose being parted in the way they were, a nicely stated acknowledgement of consequences (again, Doctor Who dealing with things in a more adult way than TW), but coming from the direction of season three I hope they don't just make the new companion the 'new Rose' in the same way that Doctor Tennant was largely Doctor Ecclestone without the angst.
The only negative thing I have to say about the new series is 'Daleks again?' The BBC have already confirmed a third Christmas special and a fourth series, could we not perhaps give the Skaroids a bit of a break now? |
