Do I have to post every single time I put some names on the database?
I put 14 records up there 3 days ago. Some of those have already been looked at by Mr Disco, which were updated on the day (thanks Disco). There are still 9 names without a checker.
If you don't want to check, feel incapable of it, can't consistently check records or don't have another role on the group please remove yourself as a member. I need to be able to see how many people we actually have doing this job. I have told people applying to join the board that it will take 3 weeks to get a response. With the number of checkers we have at the moment if one person sent one email every other day we would meet this with absolutely no problem at all. It would probably get easier because we only have 20-something emails in the gmail account at the moment (around four people apply a day) but as it is the same people are having to do all of the work and we get a backlog every other month because they get sick of emailing a person a day.
Ideally we could each check one person a week but that's not possible if there are three people doing everything because we'll never be up to date.
This should be a really consistent, easy system. It's not because right now we're running into problems with backlog all the time. There's bound to be one person out of the nine who you would like to email in the Yahoo group. I will check the most difficult people willingly, I don't even mind being referred but if I have to do that then I need other people to pass the easy to middling ones so I don't have to eat ten hours a week doing voluntary work.
Currently I'm uploading onto the database and emailing three people a week and that's a lot of work when I'm also spending 7 hours putting people into a database at work due to a great big fucking mailing.
If we get 106 emails in the gmail account again then I am getting hold of Tom and I am telling him to close barbelith to new entrants because we clearly can't do this easily. |
