Haven't yet read any of the S7 comics, but this guy looks familiar. Should I know him from regular DC stories?

Mario
23:37 / 26.01.06
No, but his brother has appeared in Starman & Green Arrow, and his father was a Golden Age hero (of a sort). All three were archers.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy

The last surviving Ludlow, or rather Ludlow-Dalt. I, Spyder is the brother of the last Spider, who tried to kill the Shade during Starman's Grand Guignol storyline. I believe this is Thomas Ludlow-Dalt, brother of Lucas, but it might be the other way 'round. All my comics have been moved over to the new place.

Mario

This is, indeed Thomas, looking remarkably spry.

I followed Starman a bit. Did one of his relatives sport a yellow and black costume? I'll try to wiki for more info.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
00:06 / 27.01.06
Yup, that was his brother. His father was the traitor to the Golden Age Seven Soldiers, post-crisis edition.

Ya know what, he looks familiar because he looks like a cooler Jack Knight, with the bowling shirt, dark hair, and tattoos.

Aertho

Nice descrip, Jack. Check out 7S#0.

Also: not much development, but I found another page.

>> Stella Stellamaris

Shades of Superman mermaid Lori Lemaris, of course.

The Falcon
13:45 / 27.01.06
He looked acually uncannily like Joe Casey in the JHW3 version in 7S#0, as someone pointed out at the time.

Aertho

LL becomes SS because this is Seven Soldiers.

Mario
14:15 / 27.01.06
Ms. Stellamaris was first mentioned in Shining Knight #2.

Mario, please read previous posts before adding your own.

"SS" like "Sally Sonic" (that is her name, right, the website superteen?)

Aertho

Sí, Senór.

Mario
16:13 / 27.01.06
Missed the post, sorry.

Did Morrison ever used mermaids in his comics before this one?

Nice connection with the SS/LL thing... the "Sirena" celebrity is a obvious J.Lo reference.

Mario
20:41 / 27.01.06
I read "Sirena" as "Probably a movie about the Sirens of Greek Myth"

Is that his costume then? The bowling shirt with skulls? I found this pic of him from Soldiers #0, where he's drawn a bit grumpier.

Mario
12:10 / 29.01.06
Well, he was still alive then.

stupid pedant threadrot:

as far as Paquette's art is very good, the tattoo in Spider's left arm in not that pretty. looks like he dipped his hand in orange paint. funny how very few people can to do characters with tattoos well in Comics. maybe they'd look better when the colorist work to have them look more... 'transparent' and green-toned, I don't know [anybody seen those Gisele Bündchen ads with her all covered up by fake digital tattoos?]. in Comics it usually looks like the character has used a magic marker all over the skin.

Can I just say that the Spider panel in #0 with Dan at the fridge is quite possibly one of the best things ever drawn in a comic by anyone?

I forgot that Gimmix actually mentions Zatanna and her counseling group in this book. Just another thing that pulls this mega-series together really well with the glaring exception of Mister Miracle at this point.

Mister Miracle = Classified 1-3. Just wait. Plus, he's overlapped Guardian and Klarion already.

will Shilo emerge at the Fortress of Solitude in ALL-STAR SUPERMAN, then?

Aertho
03:03 / 30.01.06
Say what? I said Classified, not All Star.

Mario

Qwewq is in All-Star Supes #2...

Jesus Benny. I thought we'd have spoilers or a teaser or something by now.
It's almost lunchtime!

Anyone already made any comment on the "Cup of Blood" thing? Weird thing to do, to pick the name of the Invisibles' distorted holy grail into a film title starring a siren...

God damn, what is up with my computer these days? Sheesh.

Anyways. Bulleteer was, you know, great. Nothing really spoiler worthy. Some nice connectedness betwixt all things SS. The return of someone YOU'D NEVER HAVE EXPECTED which ought to make things interesting in #4 at least if not SS#1 itself.

But jeez, people. The final issue of Gotham Central came out today. Have some sympathy.

Like Zatanna, this issue wasn't really all about Alix, at all.

SPOILERS

Alix gets a gig as one of two bodyguards for Stella, the mermaid actress from Shining Knight, who's been recieving threats on her life. She makes a few cute comments that are referent to Aquaman mythology. While there, she runs into Mind Grabber Lad, from Zatanna's therapy group. He pretty much narrates the whole issue while walking Alix around the superhero convention. Then we see the original Bulletgirl, referenced from the first issue of Bulleteer. We slide on past the girls from Lance's website, and see Etta Candy, also fresh from Zatanna's therapy group, and sitting next to her is Lil Hollywood, all grown up but from The Manhattan Guardian. Aparrently she's NOT Jackie Pemberton, but does a "super-impression" of her, for entertainment purposes. There, we learn that this issue falls directly after 7S:Z#3.

And Vigilante comes back, as a real honest to gosh avenging ghost.

Much ado was made aboout sound, noise, hearing and listening.

Seems that's the one form of penetration left open to Alix. Her ears are her achilles heel, as Spyder was about to fire an arrow through her ear canal into her brain, but one can easily see the other meaning... Alix is compassionate. She listens to her adversaries, opening herself to change and all that.

"Team-up" is a euphemism for sex, and is all that Mind Grabber really wants and needs. Adverse to the idea of superheroics, Alix understands and opens herself to providing a true team-up: a friendship and group purpose.

Alix penetrates the stall where Thumbelina is penetrating herself with shrinking juice. Some kid could do a killer essay on penetration, love, sex, pain, and weakness with this book as source material. This issue also opened up the bees nest of women heroes being sex objects and not much else. Alix is typically sexy, but that's only as deep as the smartskin. She fucking cares. And she cuts the bullshit right off the whole culture of the convention. Alix is really really new, and feels honestly reluctant about these adventures.

Has anyone heard of this Sara Smart/Sally Sonic character? Is she truly Golden Age?

What happens with Spyder? I must have my Spyder.
