moonweaver- that's Fort Perryn. Fort Creedy is nearer to the top- it's on the left side of Pitneybank and whatever suburb is to the left.

If anyone can help my supaglue character....

Stuck outside Train Row (Lavor Park actually) [36,1?] and some twart has boarded up the PD and the Club next door and the motel next door and the club near that, so heavily, I can't get in anywhere.

Free running aint no good coz I can't get into a building!

Train Row is now surrounded by 6 or 7s. Which means, I'm surrounded by 6 or 7 Zs! Got 20-odd HPs left after some nibbles and no APs from trying to find a building. If anyone's about, consider this an emerbgency broadcast.....

The mall at pitneybank (near fort creedy) has stood up pretty well against the many (who are bow are mown down with such regularity that the name 'the few' might be more appropriate) Every so often they break through the baracades, but are soon beaten of and beaten back as the barracades are repaired...

Nobody knows why the forums were deleted, least of all the mods and admins from the site. The host (Proboards) stated violation of TOS, said they don't have to tell anyone what or why, and that's that- the PK list, all that R.Ping and fanfic and personal PMs, all gone without even a warning or a message to the admins.
Some people are blaming Somethingawful for spamming the board with goatse links faster than mods could keep up, but until anyone knows better, a lot of angry players are boycotting Proboards and their draconian bullshit.

Yeah the forum's collapse is all very strange. Sure another will be along soon though (not that that's the point).

Dunno if it was anyone on here, but I just got saved by a med pack wielding friend. Enough time has lapsed to get me into a defended building, so I'm safe gain. Cheers if it was anyone here.

We've heard tell of Pitneybank and Fort Creedy - some from West boundwood have gone down to help out and we're receiving reports of 150-strong garrisons....

Wahh! Now I'm all dead and smelly!
ONE fecking zombie breaks in to my safehouse, and everyone just stands there while it eats me.
That's it, I'm going Tom Savini on their buttocks!

Has he lost his mind
Can he see or is he blind?
Can he walk at all
Or if he moves will he fall?

He was turned to steel
In the great magnetic field
When Iron Man travelled time
For the future of mankind

Nobody wants him
He just stares at the world
Planning his vengance
That he will soon unfold

Heavy boots of lead
Fill his victims full of dread
Running as fast as they can
Iron Man lives again

Now the time is here
For Iron Man to spread fear
Vengance from the grave
Kills the people he once saved

Nobody wants him
They just turn their heads
Nobody helps him
Now he has his revenge

Er, go get 'em tiger.

It is interesting that the very things that we were extolling as making the game earlier on (ie - the way it encourages co-operation of skills and co-ordination, etc), could well be what are going to kill it now. Playing a survivor is just more FUN.

That's why we've got this imbalance now with hordes of humans wandering the streets.

There's less incentive to play the zombies - less skills, no character classes, stunted communications, nothing to do except fight and say "haman-hambahghar".

Indeed. One possible solution would be to force players to play a zombie character for each human they run. That would even things up pronto.

Or if things would just be stacked a bit better to promote the leveling up of low-level zombies, that would promote them without being authoritarian about it. It's just so difficult to get those initial skills that then rapidly accelerate your advancement.

I suggestion I saw on the original boards was to branch zombie skills out into other monster trees, Resident Evil stylee. So you'd start gaining things like Acid Vomit, Razor Talons or Reptilian Dermis, moving onto more esoteric stuff like Wings and stuff called Sewer Crawler.

I reckon monstaaahs would be well popular, like.

UrbanDead zombies are, as far as I can see, supposed to be actually *dead* rather than virus victims or whatever, which could imply a supernatural component, even if they can also be revived by technology, so that wouldn't be entirely ridiculous.

I'd rather see some more interesting stuff that zombies could do on a more physical basis, though. Things like being able to rip somebody's head off, put it on your own and so impersonate a specific human. Or eat somebody's brains and take their skills. Zombies, at the moment, really are quite dull to play. If you're a member of a big zombie group that communicates outside of the board then maybe that's better but wandering around on your own looking for brains isn't much fun at all.

The zombie population problem isn't a function of there not being enough high-level variety skills. It's a function of two overlapping problems afflicting low-level zombies: 1) it's too difficult to level up what with headshots, the weaponization of syringes, and the limitors that make zombies so slow and weak in the beginning; 2) there's less social/imaginative incentive to play zombies unless you manage to fall in with one of the meta-gamed hoard groups. It's just too much of a grind just to get the current set of pump skills for zombies, nevermind tacking on a tree of additional mutations. We don't need more high-level zombie godfreaks, we need a lot more low-to-mid-level, *dangerous* zombies.

An easy thing to alter which would make zombies more dangerous would be to let them batter down doors in the same way as barricades. It would make more sense as well: currently zombies can batter down huge barricades only to be foiled by a shut door.
Alternatively would it be that difficult to have zombie bots? all they'd have to do was walk towards the nearest survivor and attack.

Dadnabbit- Wheelie Godbaby's safehouse was making him nervous, so he holed up in a school. Fairly well-barricaded, or so he thought. BALLS.

He's in Randallbank. Anyone got a syringe he can make for?

WHOAH!!! Victor Kiam just punched a zombie to death!!! (Fired a few shots at it at first, of course, but still, it felt cool.)

However, now he can't find a way in to any of his safehouses.

I just went by Moon Way- looks like you've been killed, Stoatie. I'm in the building directly north at the moment. I'll check in every so often- just stand up at some point and I'll revive you.

Someone's revived me... John Stillborn?

Many thanks to you/him.

Maybe it was a random revive, that's starting to happen more and more now I think. One of my Zombie characters got revived, died outside Fort Creedy and then got revived again before it'd even left the suburb.

24th September 2005

Something pestilential is spreading and mutating in the blood and guts of the undead - NecroTech DNA scans are beginning to pick up a number of specimens who are host to an unknown pathogen. Any survivors who suffer an Infectious Bite should seek immediate medical attention.

'Infectious Bite (Bitten survivors become infected and lose 1HP per AP until healed.)'

News

That should help balance things out quite a lot. A lot more people will have to search for First-Aid Kits now.

Go Zeds! (until I'm bitten and moaning.)

I LIVE... AGAIN!
Blah, you know, standing around outside a Necrotech building really does work.
Disturbing news- first aid kits restore HP, but not the infection. News is spreading slowly without the forums, maybe the cure is a necrotech thing, rather than a medical item? Anyone been infected so far?

12:19 / 25.09.05
Does the revivification syringe cure infection? Do all characters now need to carry one around just in case? If so it only serves to put new characters at an even greater disadvantage... particularly now with so many barracades...

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
12:58 / 25.09.05
Maybe in combination with adding some new low-level zombie skills, it'll encourage more people to play as Zs?

sleazenation
13:28 / 25.09.05
you need to encourage low level humans too though and this arguably does the opposite...

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
13:48 / 25.09.05
No, what I meant was maybe they're trying to encourage new players NOT to be human, just to balance out the numbers a bit.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
13:49 / 25.09.05
Of course, they still need to add new cool stuff for zombies to do, or they'll just discourage new players full stop.

Oh, and there's a new board here.

Billuccho!
15:49 / 25.09.05
Huh... I thought first aid kits cured the infection. I stumbled across some poor sap and administered first aid and healed him right up. Now, I've got the "First Aid" skill *and* the Necrotech skills, so I'm not quite sure which one is the helpful one...

Lord Morgue

Yeah, the desensitised board is being treated as the "official" one, since the backup board was on proboards as well, and they're not exactly Mr. Fucking Popular right now.
