DARIS is basically going to collapse over the next couple of days I think. Just like a classical air dogfight, DARIS' principals are losing the energy war, here fought in terms of AP rather than momentum. Between the SLA and the growing concentration of zeds, the unrelenting toil of reviving and rebarricading is sucking away the organization's freedom of action and initiative. Their options are being reduced to a singular -- cut and run -- but this is contradictory to the entire being of DARIS, whose identity depends on its fixed location and absolutism. The minute its members abandon Shearbank, they become simple PKers again in the same way that the disorganized remnants of destroyed armies have time and again in human history become simple bandits. I have no doubt that these players (most from SomethingAwful.com) will be back under another guise with another zany and creative way of extending the game, but I don't think it'll be DARIS under another name.
The heart at the centre of the Democratic Armed Republic of Blood is stuttering, failing.
Tonight, tomorrow, for as long as it takes until the entropy is complete, Shearbank burns. |
