Can zombies that have been 'killed' scent their killers? Or does it usually take too long and the trail goes cold before they stand up again...

Triplets
08:08 / 19.08.05
I've been told you can't scent anyone after you get killed, so it behooves survivors to, y'know, finish what they start.

Cool - there are two dead zombies out there (one with a flack jacket) that are wonderin what the hell hit them...

Triplets

On the downside, zombies you don't fatalitize can scent you up to 8 blocks away.

Phyrephox has just gained the shopping skill as I reckon gun shops in malls are a great source of ammo, better than police stations. Rather worryingly the mall in Vinetown has quite few zombie massing outside. In fact the entire area seems to be filling up with zombies, I'm tempted to tool up and try and break out to a new suburb. Any ideas for a destination?

Shit burgers! I ust made a run for it, using all my action points, and ended up in a building with a lone zombie - great.

Get out as soon as your APs regenerate a bit. I lost my first Necrotech by leaving him next to a slumbering zombie overnight.

Any ideas for a destination?

The zoo! I'm nearly sure it'll have, like, a reptile house loaded with zombies, but still -- I gotta check it out.

Ooo! I'm in it now!

Zombie free. I don't know if it's barricadable... might be.

For someone with the skills...

The Zoo, OK, it's as good a destination as any. Has anyone managed to make it over to the Power station?

Lord Morgue
13:58 / 19.08.05
The power stations are going to be a real hot spot when the city's power grid is enabled, ingame. Control of that location will affect everyone, so expect fireworks, from the zombies and between the human cliques, too.

So, any indication that the power stations are going to be powered up imminently...?

Will that make mobile phones operative?

Billuccho!
15:19 / 19.08.05
Power stations are currently useless, but rumblings indicate the plan is to get them working again soon... and yeah, that would give power to the mobile phones. Maybe as some sort of in-game IM service?

There are zombies crawling around the zoo like crazy. One gnawed on me and vanished as I slept, then I got out and there are 13 outside the Giraffe House -- I slip through the Bear Pit fence with my last bit of strength, and there's one human and two zombies in here with me.

And everywhere I extracted DNA, they'd already been logged, the undead bastards.
----

One of the reasons I was curious about the DNA logging technology (within the game, rather than just as a way to level up) is that it seems to imply some sort of wireless communication network being run by NecroTech -- there's a database of DNA, and it tracks zombies that've been logged by individual employees... so the extractors, at least, have to be communicating with each other. Which implies that NecroTech has some sort of secure facility where the servers are running, and some sort of broadcast center currently in operation.

Maybe it's all automated and on battery power or something, but still.

(see grant overrationalize!)

Well, that was lucky, it slept while I couldn't do anything, and then I managed to run and hole up in a police station - so I guess I'll stay here searching searching (found two shotgun shells so far). I've got two axes though, if anyone wants one - I feel like Slaine!

Oh, I was wondering -- are objects persistent? Can I drop my DNA extractors here in the Lion Cages then come back and get them (provided others don't get here first)? Would I have to search for them, or would they just be lying out in the open?

I don't think objects are persistent .... yet...

One of those zombies was pretty fucking persistent, until I levelled up halfway through the fight and put an axe in his face.

Is anyone in Miltown?

Lekvar the Consumer now has mad axe skillz and has taken down his first zombie. But I need a battlecry, something that will strike terror into the cold, unbeating hearts of zombies everywhere. Suggestions?

Also, is it worth starting a 'revive' list for zombie characters wishing to return to life - or are most of our zombies quite happy with their new found lot in life?

I enjoy this idea. I have already have a zombie character, my medic being zombiefied is not part of the plan.

While we're waiting, any Necrotechs near Shearbank?

Billuccho!

Stonewall Jetson, my NecroTech scientist, is hiding out in Edgecombe and has a revivification syringe if anybody that needs it is in the area. It seems the syringes are pretty hard to come by when you search the area...

The Urban Dead server seems to be down. Is this just me? I hope not, or someone has probably already beat hell out of my poor zombie.

I was looking forward to some more killing spree tonight, too.

The server is down? Now what the hell am I going to do with my Friday night?

grant: Is lekvar really that terrifying? Do many zombies have a phobia of plum preserves?

Jake, Colossus of Clout
05:58 / 20.08.05
Apparently it was just me, because some dirty fuckers ganged up on my zombie and now he's dead. Again. For the fifth time.

Anyone have any zombie strategy for me? Like what the heck should I do when I want to go to sleep and wake up with my zombie still intact? Where is it safe to leave your zombie?

My poor zombie has had a rough time of it in his short undeath.

You can hide out in buildings, if you have memories of life, on the grounds that humans entering non-useful buildings are usually looking for a hideout, and thus low on APs. Otherwise, join a bunhc of other zombies - that increases the number of targets available.

Benny the Ball
09:03 / 20.08.05
Also, look to go to places that people aren't going to head for - seems people will always go for a police station, hospital, or some such place that they can get supplies from - so if you head there when low on AP's then chances are you'll stumble into an area full of people wanting to off you. Plus steer clear of cemetaries and the such - people activly looking to off zombies will no doubt head there.

Alan Burgroft is a zombie now. he's in the square SE of the Aquarium and NW of a NecroTech building.

He is pathetically clutching two DNA extractors.

Any resurrectors in the area? It's *crawling* with undead.

Goose-hymens.
Challenger Crescent Police Dept in East Boundwood just got overwhelmed by a LOT of zombies, who ate me while I slept. Any Necrotechs about? I don't particularly feel like shambling about and decomposing for any longer than I have to ...

Some goon issued an open challenge to all zombies to come and 'ave a go if you think you're 'ard enough- end result, 40 zombies standing where he used to be, at last count. You wouldn't think there'd be enough of him to go around, even if they mixed him up with some hamburger helper...

Something else. Wouldn't it be interesting to have some sort of "area effect" weapon, like a stick of dynamite you could detonate from two blocks away? For emptying buildings and the like. Or perhaps too good?

Oh ffs.

Guys, I've just logged into to find two of my military characters have been killed over night. Somebody munched my dudes!

Is anyone up for a reviv' of either Jack Triplets (currently inside a Necrotech Building between Grandon Place Police Department and the Johnston Museum - Brooke Hills)

or

Greg Detwiller (currently inside the Roode Building between Clubs Dodds and Kirby Boulevard Police Station - Huntley Heights)?

PM me if you want me to meet you half way or make specific arrangements. Cheers!
