And here i was going to suggest all us 'live' ones head down to Fort Creedy to visit the armoury and make a stand...

Perhaps we should head down to Fort Peryn and help our guys out with some flanking zombie killing action instead...?

How about live characters head for Creedy, and dead ones slouch towards Perryn? I'll get one of my living fellas heading that way.

GAH! 2 out of 3 of my local police stations have been overrun. I wandered in, low on AP, expecting a nice hot cup of coco and a neck massage, and spent a socially uncomfortable evening standing next to a zombie in the corpse-filled precinct house, with a towel over my head, hoping that if I couldn't see hir, zhe couldn't see me, waiting for my action points to regenerate to I could sidle away. Pretty much sums up my entire social life lately...

Just spent a massive portion of APs firing away at an inactive zombie and only hit one time out of twelve. Man that 30% chance to hit can be a bugger. Plus I had to keep logging back in.

Bloody weather.

See now you shouldn't have mentioned multiple characters, i'd thought of it but not acted, now i'm liable to make hundreds!

But sounds like a plan, my live one will head to Creedy and i'll make a dead walking to head to Peryn.

Having more than 2xp might also help, damn work for keeping busy!

You can't play too many characters as there is an IP-based 160 hit daily limit on map.cgi which is the main game screen.

You will level up, and as you level up if you pick useful skills you will level up faster in future. I am playing two different characters who are both at sixth-level now, and would be higher if not for the server problems which have confined me to PDs for the past couple of days.

There's some great in-character fiction and politics going on at http://urbandead.proboards52.com/index.cgi and http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/urbandead-ic. I'm especially partial to the messages from "The Voice of Malton", though he/they haven't been heard from in a few days. The best of the roleplaying is a few days back on both the forum and the lists - I think the server malaise is stifling people's creativity and the opportunities for extrapolating in-engine events into external social interaction/invention.

I'm finding that the server lag is really helping me out as a zombie - plenty of time to much on people...

This may be why Fort Creedy is looking a little.. dead.

Geez, you people are gaining XP pretty rapidly. My firefighter is at 34 XP right now, and I'm headed to a power station to see what that's like. Hopefully it's not a waste of time.

I've been playing around with several classes of characters, seeing what's fun... although I've completely forgotten the username for my Consumer. Oh, and my Private got offed and zombified down at Fort Perryn. Hrm.

I'm a squaddie, or whatever the game calls them in Vineland. At the moment I'm in a police station & I have a pistol, shotgun and a flak jacket. I'm a bit worried about going outside as I keep on getting stuck in server lag. I'll probably try tomorrow morning while the US is asleep.

Well, my firefighter hasn't leveled up yet, and I haven't found a use for those wirecutters (though, apparently, there is one). So, I'm afraid I've got no tips. I'm just a blue-collar zombie fighter.

the chao goes mu - When I arrive at Fort Creedy and inevitably get chewed by Haus, what happens? Do I become a zombie or have to mke a new character?

If you die you become a zombie and that includes jumping out of windows. As a zombie you are immortal when your (un)health hits zero you stand right back up.

I think wirecutters would be used to gain access to junkyards if any were unopened.

Using a medkit on someone is a dead cert to give you 5 xp, if they need healing, and it stops the rise of another zombie.

Lots of zombies at Fort Creedy. I wasn't in the position to do battle, but I found a bottle of wine! Anyone know what that does to you?

beverages give you 1 AP. but since you use 1 AP to drink them, they really don't do anything.

Fuck! I've been zombimacated. I had the misfortune of being inside Fort Perryn when it was overrun, and had a lot of zombies take a lot of little bites out of me until I was dead. Is there anyone with necrotech sk1llz who'd be willing to revive me (as in, tell me your general area so I can make my way there, then arrange a meeting)? I have all these sweet firearms I want to be able to use.

Seriously though, have any of these people watched zombie movies? The military fortification is always the first place to be overrun.

I may be but a lowly fireman but I say small groups and constant movement are the way to go.

P. Horus Rhacoid
07:15 / 10.08.05
Well, I had specifically left the fort because it seemed it was about to be overrun, returned to stock up on ammo (me being a military type and it being the quickest supply of stuff to kill other stuff with), then found myself locked out of the safehouse I had been using. With a sense of impending doom and dwindling AP I returned to the fort, it being the closest large gathering of the living, and was locked out of the game for a day and a half because of server problems. In retrospect, it would have been safer simply to stand in the middle of the street somewhere...

The problem with small groups and constant movement is coordinating them. Maybe a rotation of Barbelith safe houses could work? Figure out a movement pattern, and just make sure everyone ends up in the same place at the end of the day.

BTW, I can say with reasonable certainty that multiple flak jackets mean better protection, because each of my many zombie bites only caused 2 damage. I got gnawed to death really, really slowly.

I saw which way the wind was blowing in the Armory and followed the evacuation plan East to Mumford Towers - I am hiding out there at present. I'm a military medic, which is mildly annoying, since I can't shoot straight enough to hit a zombie but have no first aid kits to heal other people, so have no way to gain XP.

Vexes, if you make your way over to the Shuttlebank area give me a shout. My lab assistant just found a Necrotech building and I've brought the mad skillz to revive people. I should have a few syringes by the time you get here and I'll bring you back to life.

It's alive! Alive!

Get punching, Haus! I'm up to a mighty 9 exp now from whacking zombies on the back of the head and legging it.

Does anyone know if there is a limit on the amount of things you can find in one place through searching?

And any idea what to do with a fuel can?

I second that, It'll be a week before I get anywhere in this game

Fort Creedy doesn't seem that bad right now, more inside than zombies without.

Find a library, Haus! I'm walking around with an enormous sack of books at the moment, which I read from time to time, and every now and again that bumps my XP up.

The fuel can doesn't have a purpose right now, but may eventually be implicated in the craft production of molotov cocktails.

There is no limit to the number of items you can pull out of a given location, but there is a limit that I've just discovered to the number of items you can carry. Oh well, gave me an excuse to get rid of the extra flak jackets and flare guns to make room on my back for more shotguns, of which I currently have 8 (fully loaded, with ammo to reload half of them). I'm a one-man army in need of a target and an end to the server storm.

The storm's getting on my nerves now, I was on my way to help my decomposing brethren out in the seige on Fort Perryn, but apparently that's over now, all the humans are either dead or have fled. However, it sounds like the forces of undeath are massing for an assault on a nearby hospital so I may mosey over there.

Indeed. No matter what time of day I try it, I'm getting 8 clicks out of every 10 returning with the 'Site Overloaded' message.

but apparently that's over now, all the humans are either dead or have fled

Utter nonsense. Fort Perryn has not fallen. Repeat, the fort is secure. There is food and shelter here. All brains should report to Fort Perryn immediately.

Maybe I need to read some books on how to hit things witch baseball bats...

Dead. Humped in the night by 6 of them. Logged on this morning to see my colleague had spent his last APs to get out a death scream.

Anyone willing to rejuvenate myself and a chum?
