Ganesh gives some advice, that's kinda common sense, but so much that it's kinda funny.
1) You stop suggesting that other posters' mothers are prostitutes, take a little time away from the board if necessary, and seriously rethink your mode of engagement with Barbelith

Please don't be getting rid of BB stereotypes. They're part of the fun. The horrible horrible fun.

Evil Cyberman describing the joy of Big brother. There's something very apt about the horrible horrible fun, especially without any punctuation.

Yes, I have a healthy respect towards swans. Last year, I was sitting on a park bench and watched a swan standing on the path, with fluttering wings, hissing and looking dirtily at passers-by.

It looked very funny, but I was glad, I sat 10m away.

Mistofelees slays me with commars.

Oh, thank you for the barbquote, Legba!

The german language has lots of rules, where commas have to be set, and after over 20 years of learning english, it will be one thing, I´ll never get the hang off completely (which doesn´t have to be a bad thing, as you have shown me ).

And thanks also for pointing out the double entendre of my sentence to me. Hehehe, while I sat there, I was waiting for the time to go see War of the Worlds. So the swan put me in the right mood for watching fierce creatures attacking humanity.

but I sure as shit don't know how to move a register

Red Frog Rising confuses .trampetunia's brane with the programming words and causes worry that he might be a cyborg... (on googletalk..)

Some folks dramaticly command the bonfire's smoke to shift and it does nothing. Other people merely smile and you notice none of the smoke is blowing in their direction. Ever. Given the choice of looking like an ass or pondering the mysteries you may just decide to stand up and move your chair.

Tune my face to awe; that is inspired.

A tired old joke given a fresh new twist by Alex's Grandma in the Philip K Dick thread in Books:

A previous post: I picked up A Maze of Death in an attempt to expose myself to as much Dick from as many different eras as possible.

Alex's Grandma: Well it's less hassle than getting a flight to Mykonos, I suppose.

Roll on the: "If you like Dick, you'd love Moorcock" discussion.

To be honest the whole idea of associating rawk with Satanism strikes me as kind of quaint, almost comforting - a kind of warm, cuddly old fashioned hysteria. Before the dark times. Before the paedophiles.

Boboss on Lordi.

Somebody else was selling that bullshit--parallelism, he called it. I kicked that fat fuck in the mouth.

Tuna Ghost combines the Mind/Body problem with Ultraviolence to spice up a lengthy philosophical quote.

This dude wrote
"But, you say to yourself, they can all go fuck themselves. You lift the gun and are shot to death almost immediately by the police, who don’t care about any of this. " as the conclusion to his chapter on Monism vs. Dualism?

Really?

I'd like to apologize to Amit Goswami, Ph.D., author of The Self-Aware Universe, whose material I have quoted and injected into a lot of profanity and violence.

It was that by Tuna Ghost that deceived me, I thought it meant that ze'd injected a lot of profanity and violence into Goswami's material. Stupid Quantum! I kick myself!

I'm beginning to think Nikki really is a fairytale princess: I suspect she'd immediately detect a pea through forty mattresses. Or at least detect a trace of pee.

Not only am I not the first person to quote the BB thread, I'm not even the first person to quote Ganesh in the BB thread. But I am the first person to quote this particular thing that Ganesh said in the BB thread, which I find surprising since it is teh hilarious.

For some reason, Richard makes me think of my time working on a post-overdose ward, assessing people who'd self-harmed the night before. When one's tenth cry-for-helper of the day says, "if you discharge me, I'll kill myself", one really is tempted to say, "fine, just remember cut up and down rather than across, and don't make the mistake of telephoning for an ambulance this time".

Elephant Man over in BB6. It's "cry-for-helper" that does it for this set of triplets.

Stoatability = Quotability, in the Big Brother thred:

What the fuck did "the people they pick they might pick the ones they don't pick... to cause amniosity" mean, Nikki?

WHAT THE HOT BUTTERED ELVIS ARE YOU ON ABOUT, YOU INCOMPREHENSIBLE LOON???

I did sort of get what she meant after about half an hour of analysing her sentence, but it goes in anyway. Just for hot buttered Elvis.

Am I the only one finding the whole long-distance balling event really really funny?

Flyboy's pitch for the Music Forum makes me snigger:

I can't guarantee that people won't shout at you in Music, but it will be in a fun way, like being shouted at by Lil' Jon, and not in a bad way, like being shouted at by your ex, in a pub, while everyone stares, silent and accusing.

I would personally be a bit wary of making a judgement of the way Brubaker writes a book about a woman in leather who beats up criminals based on how he writes a book about a guy who shoots force beams out of his eyes at people who fall to Earth from space.

Yotsuba $ Benjamin help to make my day brighter in the comics forum.

Mordant, on the wonders of female anatomy and childbirth:

Well, quite. Women don't have a special secret set of baby-shoving muscles tucked away in their abdomens that only spring into life during the act of childbirth. It's just the same ones you use for taking a dump, only, y'know, moreso.

Haus on Harry Kewell: Rather like a boron rod, he has to be withdrawn to start the reaction.

Oh, it may be from weeks ago, but I think that’s really rather fab and so needs to be bottled up and saved forevah. In this thread. Like so.
