Hallo, Paper Spaceboy

Mordant: Oh, no! Not "chick!" Anything but "chick!" How can I come back from that devastating blow? Guess I'd just better go and sit in the kitchen and eat Ben & Jerry's or something while my mascara runs.

Mostly because it seems like a lot of fun to sit in a kitchen eating ice cream with mascara running down your face. And when people came in to ask what's wrong you could just scream "My Mascara is running!" And fling hot fudge sundaes at them.

Mind you, I'm generally a bit wrong in the head.

I see that our emic realities are not in agreement over anything neither is anyone interested in leaving their rigid reality tunnels to understand what the point really is. --Sensitive R. (Emphasis mine)

I know I've already quoted that twice, in thread, but I thought it was so amazingly bad as to require preserving here for posterity.

I like your "wanker perfect ten", *Mr* C., as followup too.

In a way, I was holding my board with precisely that score upon seeing it. I quite liked Illuminatus! and all, but is this a commonality to people who read too much RA Wilson?

You'd think that, but you'd be wrong. Because of your rigid reality tunnel, you see.

Is it just me, or is "rigid reality tunnel" a sort of womb analogy?

More uterine, innit? I totally had to google that and am a disgrace.

Denfeld's pic response was also a winner, by fuck.

Am I the only one who, in a trainwreck kind of way, desperately wants to know what ShadowSax actually thinks we should call former rapists?

In ShadowSax's defense, I think he's saying they are human beings. I have to agree with that point. Although I disagree with his defense of He Who Must Not Be Named, it is true that there's a tendency to demonize people who have been convicted of doing bad things in the past and to make it impossible for them to live a life after the fact. In the US, in particular, this tendency has disproportionately affected black and brown men.

I tend to have quite a bit of skepticism about the "justice" available in the US justice system, which I suppose is why I find myself still able to rationally engage with ShadowSax, whose main beef is with the US family law system, even though he and I fundamentally disagree about many issues.

You too, Matt, if you think a womb resembles a tunnel in any way. The word you poor lads are looking for is VAGINA.

Deva, I'd agree if their intention was to make light of the situation. More contemptuous swipes at a stupid notion than jokes. I feel more concerned about the statement made and WW's new username. But apologies will reel it in or delete, at your suggestion?

no, no need to delete, just thought I'd flag it up so people would be aware of possible discomfort when deciding whether to continue that particular train of thought...

I'm actually appalled at my ignorance, ibis; uterus and womb are synonyms? Who knew? Everyone probably; vagina just seemed too obvious, you know.

God, I'm only making it worse. Shutting up now.

Beautiful. In fact I hope we're wiring our hearts together. Some of us, humans, could use the cable jump-start.

to be clear...
that crack was supposed to highlight the oddness of the notion that one can be a former rapist...
former murderer sounds ridiculous as well, hey.

'former' only really makes sense in the context of a crime committed often by those named after the offence, like thievery or arson.

rape and murder are not acts you escape from, i feel.

(i've been meaning to make a similar point for a while, but my board time is at an all time low these days.)

I'm posting the following here so as to not rot the thread from which this quote came from (it is to serious for this kind of joke), but here we goooo:

If you'd just joined say a golf club with, I'm guessing, a membership backlog of a couple of months, would virtually your first act on gaining admittance be to run around naked on the 18th green, covered in ordure and howling like a banshee?

Dude, that would be the only reason for me to join a golf club. Personally speaking, of course.
