That'd be neat, I could do the whole Highlander thing, pulling a sword out of my coat. "I am Trijhaos of the Clan Trijhaos. You have canceled the weekends, prepare to die"....that doesn't sound quite right. I think I have a bit of Princess Bride in there.

you should also speak a non-english language. just for the sheer strangeness of it.

"that pale rider! what--what was it he said?"
old man steps up:
"he said...it is time for us to make peace with the lord."

decapitated head rolls into gutter.

...ooh, and y'all thought calo was talented!

Foreign language? Hmm.....I suppose I could brush up on my german.

Let's see here....."Es ist Zeit für Sie, Frieden mit dem Lord zu bilden."

I'm not quite sure german would work though. It sounds funny enough coming from an american, but an american with a southern twang would have them rolling on the ground laughing.

Oh the Germans, Smithers, save me, the Germans are going to get me. It's the GER-mans...

I just can't believe it's taken this long for this thread to get bumped.

Now that was a hectic week. I promise not to talk about RPGs here today.

Really.

Zoom.

So am I. I expected to get on this morning and see this thread at the top of the page.

How's free comic book day going?

I am still regretting my choice of beer last night. Not from a taste perspective, just because it was twice as strong as I was expecting.

Lots slower than I had hoped. There was the initial surge, but now it's a normal Saturday. I'm hoping I'll have a little rush this afternoon once the Spider-Man matinees let out.

I'm tired, but what else is new?

Spider-mans's out too? Gah! I have the money to see this movie and no transportation. Usually, it's the other way around.

this is it, folks. the last week of classes of this agonizing academic year. just have one 5-min vid to shoot & edit, and one 15 page paper to write by mon, finals, and back to the peace of full time employment for a while. this is also the last week i can bitch about being stuck under a pile of work, so breath a sigh of relief, you won't be hearing me complain from here on out. last night i hung out with some old friends and am just getting around to conciousness now. also bought the new wilco album, which is rocking thine world... looking foward to a camping trip that's in the works, for a few weeks from now...have no standing moral dilemmas, so i'm feelin kinda free. man, i'm just one big love-fest this weekend. maybe i'll start drinking at 6 again (with me zoom?)...

I have two days of exams coming up. On Tuesday, I have Calculus and on Thursday I have English and Comp-Sci. My English exam will be a joke. We'll probably be there for perhaps 45 minutes because we have to finish some presentations and then the "exam" is just one of those surveys the teachers have you fill out.

I may be running up to Ohio next weekend, I'm not sure though. Unfortunately, I'm not lucky enough to be able to find any sort of employment, so I'll probably spend the summer moping around the house, bitchinga about how they're discriminating against me because I can't work a cash register.

I really should be working on my formula sheet for Calculus and studying for exams. I can't afford to take Calculus a third time.

heh, i couldn't afford to take it a first time! i was gonna start a new thread about this, but it really is rather pointless, so here we go: has anyone here ever had a soft-drink called Cel-Rey by Dr. Brown's? it's soda that supposedly tastes like celery, but ummm doesn't. me and my friends used to drink it all the time back in high school, and i've just found a diner in the city that has it. am i the only one tempted by vegetable flavored sodas?

I'm working at the group home again, but this time I actually have other staff here, so I have sent them off to do other things. One took one of residents to the dentist, another took the ones left to Spider-Man and to Free Comic Book day at the closest comic shop. I'm here doing paperwork and the stuff I am supposed to do (taking a break now).

Coolest thing? I got an e-mail from a probation officer who likes what I'm doing for one of his kids and wants to place another one with us in about two weeks if court goes well. Maybe I CAN do this job.

I actually picked up the movie tickets before coming in to work and stopped to see what comics were being offered...other than the Big Four in all the ads, they had Stary Bullets #2 and another small press book...too bad they didn't just load up on the small press stuff, since that's what will bring in the casual readers.

Last night I went to see the Good Reverend Horton Heat perform, and opening were TWO good bands, Tiger Army and Nashville Pussy and I was against the front rail at First Ave for the first time in my life. For once, I don't feel like a weekend is kicking my ass.

AND...

Tomorrow I actually have a second staff in with me for about 4 hours which will be nice. Too bad I have to give her a warning about her boundaries. "We are a treatment group home for teenage boys...don't ask them to help you look through the Victoria Secrets catalog and don't bring you 7 year old daughter in for your shift. OK?"

Yes. Yes you are.

I do like V8 juice though. All your vegetable needs in one bottle.

oh man, with advice like that i can see why some weekends there are so damn tough! hey, tomorrow's cinco de mayo! let's get drunk, with A)alcohol (good choice), B)power (my fave), or C)Cel-Rey (i know i'm not the only weird fucker who drinks this shit!)!

Utopia
18:06 / 04.05.02
trij: try mixing V8 w/seltzer water. it would be like, uh, V-rey! you don't have to try it, but just keep an eye out for it at the store! delight your friends and enemies with a bottle of carbonated celery!

Trijhaos
18:09 / 04.05.02
It sounds a bit strange. carbonated celery juice. I'll keep an eye out for it, but I doubt I'll find any around here. I've gotta go all the way across town for a nice bottle of jolt and to a completely different state to find oranges and cream soda.

solitaire rose, I've got tons of small press stuff. Oni, antarctic, kenzer and co and a bunch of others. But most people are still going for the big 4 stuff, regardless of what I recommend.

Zoom.

Too bad Zoom...I wish I understood why people just won't pick up comics that aren't from the huge companies.

I'm home now...one of the kids at the group home had a crisis in that he didn't cash his paycheck, thinking hew coudl cash it today. And tonight is prom with him needing to rent a tux, but flowers, etc...so I had to run him BACK to the Mall with my mighty checkbook, and he has to pay me back on Monday when the bank opens.

He's a social services kid, who has been an orphan for the past 4 years, and it was good to turn everything around for him, since he thought he had totally blown it.

Trijhaos
21:21 / 04.05.02
I think the reason people won't pick stuff up from smaller companies is because they're more comfortable with the bigger companies. They don't know what to expect from the smaller companies and they don't want to read anything that may damage the little box they're living in.

noble move on your part rose. there's nothing like the feeling when evrything has gone completely to shit, but there's one saving grace that turns it all around.

Fizzy stuff with cucumber (and melon) in it is nice - but I am pretty sure cucumbers are fruits, not vegetables, so it doesn't really count. I only like *warmed* V8 or tomato juice. It is like a very low calorie soup, then. Otherwise, bleurgh. I once vomited vegetable juice over a bloke I was fellating. Jeez.

Anyway, enough with the 'eww, too much information'. Solitaire Rose, that is very sweet...you are a good person, methinks. And Zoom, if I was in your comic shop, I'd buy what you recommended, mostly 'cause I'd have almost no idea where to start, otherwise. Trijhaos - we can buy oranges and cream soda in pretty much all supermarkets in this country... or is it just that you have to go to a completely different state to *pick* oranges, and, er...I dunno, get cream soda direct from those soft drink rivers I hear you have over there...

Trijhaos
21:32 / 04.05.02
They used to sell oranges and cream soda at Kroger's, but once they ran out of stock, they didn't get any more in. Thus, if I want anymore of the stuff, I must travel 45 minutes up to Kentucky, to purchase the tasty beverage.

Soft drink rivers? Where? I must find these rivers and divert them into my waterline.

I'd pay for a Zoom Selection Pack. Things that came out recently and were just really kewl. I like browsing, but I don't really get the time these days, or have the perspective.

Actually, I really would pay for a Zoom Selection Pack, including postage.
