The movie, I'd really like to see is The Phantom Menace done right. Get rid of Jar Jar, completely get rid of any mention of mitowhatsits, and replace Jake Lloyd with a better child actor, maybe that kid from the Sixth Sense.

i want to think movies are good, like other people.

Trijhaos
02:20 / 12.05.02
Movies are good?

Bah! Movies are evil. They teach children about violence and sex and all that other nasty bad stuff the young'ins shouldn't know about.

Ban all movies!

Utopia
02:56 / 12.05.02
no no no, not like that. i mean, yeah movies learn us 'bout vah-lence an' the sexin', but we grew up with the A-team and i don't see anybody bringing guns into school and... oh, that happened a few times, didn't it?

no, i mean i wish i thought movies were good, as in entertaining. but i don't want this to turn into another version of an ill fated thread i started, so please refrain from questions and comments. i'm just eternally sad because i don't ever think i'll see a movie that touches me on a meta-physical level. there will never be a movie as good as a great painting, or a favorite song. i think it's wasted opportunity on the part of filmmakers and film financers. it makes me sad.

Let's see...gaming wise I am a Final Fantasy freak, but I have gotten the re-made Dragon Warriors for my Game Boy.

And movies-wise? They have all gone downhill since Electric Dreams didn't get the audience it deserved.

OK, there is a kerjillion websites for other cult movies, why is there no decent Buckaroo Banzai fan-fiction?

Oh my webfu sucks. I even build my entire webpage in Front Page Express because I am just too lazy to start thinking about HTML.

And the only fanfiction I read is Mystery Science Theater fan-fiction...and speaks on that, I wrote some down in Creation in the Barbe-slash topic, and not only did I stop the topid dead, but no one cared enough to tell me to stop.

So damn you all. *sniff*

I have a link there. Once one of the moderators fixes my little boo-boo with the closing quote, check it out. Its a page with a few bits of fanfiction on it.

Can anyone explain to me why I've suddenly turned into a fairly dim twelve year old, with only three days left to finish my bloody take-home exams for the final year of my degree? I realise it's a long shot, but I thought someone here might know. I'm a ninja, so I can't blame all that pirate grog for killing brain cells...

Trijhaos

It's the whole "summer's approaching, time to turn off your brain" syndrome. Signs of this disease start developing the first year children go to school full time. There is no cure. Some people seem to be immune to it, but they are freaks of nature. If you see one of them, hunt them down and take them to a lab. They're paying big money for the freaks.

Seriously, don't worry about it. It happens to pretty much everybody.

You're probably right. Hopefully my pitifully shallow essay answers won't be too out of place, then. It's painful though. I used to be quite intelligent, I'm sure I did... are you in school, Treehouse?

Trijhaos
13:16 / 12.05.02
In August I start my second year of college. Thankfully, I chose a state school, so I'm only slightly in debt.

I used to be intelligent too. I graduated high school with distinguished honors, and now I'm just hoping to get a C in computer science. If I make anything lower than that I will fight it tooth and nail.

In August? Hmm. You doing anything in the interim? Work, fun shit? Sailing the high seas and drinking lots of rum?

I plan on getting work somewhere. I'm not picky anymore. The only thing I really don't want to do is clean up bodily fluids. Other than that, the sky's the limit.

Work depending on whether its part or full-time will only take up a few hours of the day, so once the work thing is a go, I'm going to look into taking a kendo or iaido class. Sure, I'll have to drive to Nashville to do so, but its something I've been interested in for awhile now.

With any free time remaining, I'm going to catch up on my reading, learn either Perl or Python, and perhaps start actually building up a social life instead of bitching about being lonely.

The two jokes I wrote in my weekly news parody this morning that I like because they are painfully self-referential:

The Rolling Stones announced this week that they would be going on tour this summer and fall. Words cannot describe how much I am looking forward to seeing a man in his 60’s in leather pants singing about how he can’t get no satisfaction. All those years of therapy will be gone in a heartbeat.

A Duke University study shows that women who suffer from mild depression live longer than those who do not. No word yet on if the horror of dating Weekly News Update head writer Cory!! Strode counts as mild depression or full-blown psychosis.

Well I found out my final Calculus grade. A 'D'. Ouch. While I can't say I'm happy about the letter grade, I'm just glad I got the credit hours. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

I don't even know what calculus is, so I guess you could count yourself lucky...

Trijhaos
14:54 / 12.05.02
Calculus is basically algebra on steroids with some trig. thrown in.

The thing I find sad about mathematics is I'll probably never use any of it. Teachers go on and on about how math is an integral part of our daily lives, but frankly I don't see it.

I don't know how to help.
I would if I could.

How old are these kids?
I saw a number of children at the flea market today. Jesus, they were everywhere. I couldn't find a single thing there I wanted. Except for this knife. Oh yes, its a beautiful thing. 19 and a half inches in length. I think I'm in love. Heh. When I went to mail some stuff off, it was even worse. Its like these kids grow on trees.

I've done nothing all weekend. Why would you want to know that? I don't know... Whatever. Back when I was a ROC I'd've kicked yr arse with my massive beak.

They're gone now, thank (insert deity here). I used to quite like having all the kiddies come in. They were all enthusiastic, but now they just sit around trying to get free shit from me. It's making me mental.

I'm so looking forward to my vacation this summer.

Zoom.

"Can I have this? I don't have any money, but you seem really nice, so you'll give it to me for free, right?"

At one of the parties one of the local shops has, I think it was an anniversary party or something, I really lucked out. They were doing this raffle and my number was called and I won one of everything in the store. One back issue, one new issue, one poster, etc. etc.

Free stuff is cool and all, but people have to make money somehow.

Captain Zoom
19:54 / 12.05.02
I think they all got spoiled by FCBD last week. Now they think I'll give them all sorts of free stuff.

And I am giving them the comics I have left over. BUt they're getting greedy. I think maybe one of them needs to mysteriously disappear....

(Disclaimer: I am in no way insinuating that I endorse kidnapping.)

You don't want to give free comics to kids. You want to give them to people who'll properly appreciate them.

Trijhaos
21:09 / 12.05.02
Disappear, huh?

I can have one of my operatives up there in 2 days tops. Do you want this kid gone permanently or just temporarily?

Oh yes, you must give the free comics to those who appreciate them, giving is a wonderful experience and the big happy appreciative grin makes it all worthwhile.
