Hey dudes.
Seems quiet here today, so I'm starting another one of those quiet weekend threads. Talk about whatever you want. I'll be here all day.

I went out last night and got really drunk. I am reminded this morning why it is that I gave up drinking a few months ago. Pot never leaves me feeling so.....oily. I also sang some karaoke last night. Though it didn't actually occur to me how difficult a song to sing "The Bad Touch" by The Bloodhound Gang is. But I managed to rock it out and get some whoops and hollers from the crowd.

Whadja do last night? What're you doing tonight?

Zoom.

And like the hung over idiot I am, I misspelled the topic. "Another ONE of those weekends....."

Geez.

you drunkard! i spent last night smoking weed and avoided work on a short experimental film and researching soviet documentary of the 1920's & 30's. then i gave up and spent the night at my girlfriend's. i'm home again, not high thankfully, but still avoiding work. this should continue until sometime tomorrow afternoon. in other words, i'll also be here all day (hey, it's my social life!)

Captain Zoom
17:19 / 06.04.02
Now see, I miss being able to avoid work. Not that there's a lot to do here. Okay, big lie. There's fucking tons to do here, but I am in no state to do it.
My brother keeps telling me I should just get high on Saturdays and sit behind the counter talking to people about comics. I just don't think I could pull it off though.
Utopia, are the experimental film and the documentary one and the same, or two separate works? Both sound fairly fascinating.

Zoom.

Utopia
19:10 / 06.04.02
they're totally seperate things, and both interesting, but i am so devoid of motivation this week. the experimental film is just a few minutes of wacky fun using the scratch technique (film + razor blade = art). i'm also doing research work for a paper regarding how the use of civilian cameramen in soviet documentaries affected their news reels and propaganda. i know that if i could just get over this hurdle of inefficiency i'll be moving right along on both...

so zoom, are you writing from work, or is the the store in somebody else's hands today? and if you feel that getting stupid at work and #gasp# working don't mix, then go with your intuition. if i lived on your side of the border i'd stop in and un-quiet up your weekend for ya...

Captain Zoom
19:20 / 06.04.02
I am indeed at work. It's the only time I actually have down time in which to write. Aside from the business work I'm supposed to be working on a comic script for kegboy, but I'm sharing your motivation problem.

Now, it's not that I don't think it would be a laugh getting stoned and sitting in a comic store all day, but I just don't think I'd be able to deal with some of the strange people who come in here. And really, getting high is far better when you're in good company, rather than sitting alone waiting for the sales to roll in.

I think the next band I'm in will be called "Hurdle of Inefficiency". Don't worry, you'll get due credit.

Ah, an unquiet weekend. How novel that would be. (Stops complaining right now 'cause this weekend is rocking my financial ass!)

This weekend: hanging drywall, installing shower fixtures, burying a loved one.

Enjoy your alcohol and your karaoke.

well just remember to make some airholes, otherwise he or she might not be able to breath...(i am truly truly sorry for saying that jack, click "ignore" a few times for me please).

"Hurdle of Inefficiency". heh heh heh. i'm glad you like that.

i'd love to see this strip once it gets done. will you be distributing it electronically?

Captain Zoom
20:25 / 06.04.02
Actually, that's one of the things being discussed down in the Collective Comics thread in Creation. As I type this I've overcome my motivation problem and am on page two of the script. I think the plan is for there to be a print version definitely and Mr. moriarty's already set up a website of sorts. Whether the actual strips will be on there I'm not sure. If I'm to make a confession, I haven't read a lot of the policy stuff going on for the collective comic, I just started to write stuff for it. I should perhaps go read that other stuff. If it wasn't important, it wouldn't be there, I guess.

So there, I've become motivated. Get of yer butt!

I'm kinda drunk right now but I have to go to work tomorrow so I'm in bed watching Jacobs Ladder, which I've never seen before...

Gotta say though Zoom I like that "Oily" thing, totally rings true

A bit drunk, about to decide (uncharacteristically, which is what's making me hesitate) that discretion is the better part of valour, and that going to bed would be a cool idea.
Met my Mum this morning for the first time in months, which was very cool. Went to the arse-end of the Unconvention afterwards, which was also very cool. On my way home, got a call from a friend who I also haven't seen in a while asking if I wanted to go for a curry. Went for a curry. Now I'm feeling pleasantly full, a bit pissed, and happy. One of those rare occasions when shit works out well.

So funny. I thought,"Man, drunk and it's only quarter to six", of course forgetting the locations of some of the 'lithers. Of course, drunk at quarter to six sounds kind of nice right now.

Well, I got very drunk last night and tried to sleep on the floor of the bar where my wife works (dam those lock-ins). Tonight i'm just chilling out with a few, er, medicinal drinks. Marijuana isnt my drug. So drink will have to do.

Agh....weekends....

Mine are Wednesday and Thursday, so tonight I will be getting my ever-widening ass on the exercise bike and watching a movie, then munching on popcorn and watching...another movie.

Last night I went to a improv/sketch comedy show and had a fine time, followed by a Burger King veggie burger meal. Yeah, I know, you all wish you were me.

I work tomorrow too, but then I go to the gym afterwards.

That's what happens when you work at a group home I guess.

Captain Zoom
21:53 / 06.04.02
Yeah. My weekends are Monday and Tuesday, though with the store doing relatively well this month (so far), I may open up again on Tuesdays.

That said, I'm out of here in a couple of minutes. Utopia, if you return, thanks for the thought, but I think Zoom is back off the booze. I'll stick to that other recreational pharmecutical that I like. And I did manage to finish off my script, a five-pager no less!

See you all tomorrow.

Zoom.

Hey Zoom and friends!

My weekend is nuts! Life hasn't settled down yet, and the home I thought I had was yanked out from under my feet like a magician's table cloth: I still remain standing and my brother's bitch sow of fiancee can't slow down the speeding locomotive that is modthree!

So my good buddy is in from Van. We hung out for some beers last night, and tonight a big group of us are going out to get loaded and dance: should be a blast! When I'm not doing that I've got a bunch of Set Theory to do for Monday, I have to move all my stuff to scattered locations and I've gotta' spend the rest of the month couch surfing! WHOO! I LOVE THIS LIVING!!!!

:raz:

Peace and criss-crossed Christs,

sigh...i'm back again, full of drugs and alcohol. this isn't helping me work as well as i thought it would. but i did have an adventure rescuing 4 cases of assorted soft drinks from my automobile...and found a stray can of mountain dew code red. i dunno, i'm kinda happy i'm not doing anything now.

will that be a party of one?

And open for busines again.
I watched K-PAX last night. I heard lots of bad shit about this film but I thought it was excellent. Not a lot of twists and turns, but really solid acting and a good script. Fans of Kevin Spacey take note. A really excellent performance.

Just sitting waiting for the kiddies to come in and play wargames for a few hours. Our local library is having a book sale today so I'm hoping for lots of sci-fi nonsense.

Feel like I really ought to be typing this stuff in my livejournal.

I'll be here all day, ladies and gentlemen, and if I don't get any replies it means you're all out doing far more interesting things.

I only wish I had more interesting things to do.

For some strange reason around here if you want something interesting to do, you need money. Unfortunately, money is something I have a serious lack of.

The weekend has been saved by Channel 5 showing Teen Wolf, which I'm watching right now...

ah, Teen Wolf, #58 on AFI's 100 greatest movies of all time. i needed a little break from working, and i'm glad to see that others are bored enough to return

Hey! Cool. Teen Wolf is on over here right now; it just started.

Its amazing how something like Teen Wolf can bring people together, if everyone in the world sat down and watched Teen Wolf the world would be a better place

K-Pax was OK...I'm glad I didn't pay for it, since I knew where it was heading the whole time (crazy people are touched by God, and if you listen to them they solve sane people's problems) but Kevin Spacey is great to watch in anything.

I have spent the whole morning doing group home paperwork (yep, I'm the director now thanks to a couple well-placed sigils) and am now just watching over the house and making sure the residents follow the rules. When I'm done, it's off to the gym (since I blew it off the past two days), then I pick up my son and we watch his favorite show...Iron Chef.

On Wednesday, tho, I am going to watch the movies I rented dirt cheap Friday night. Yep, me, the couch and The Satanic Ritual Of Dracula, Sunset Boulevard, two Anime and a Sherilyn Fenn movie "Meridian" which I hear is creepy and sexy.

Then Thursday is COMICS DAY!

^_^

Zoom, do you find that Sunday morning is incredibly productive work-wise? I find I get more done that morning than at any other time since the rest of the world is sleeping.

Captain Zoom
19:54 / 07.04.02
Yeah, Sunday's alright for getting going. I usually play squash on Sunday mornings with my brother, though he opted out this weekend in favour of being hungover. Fair enough. Though when we've played, the amount of energy I've got in fantastic. I go home, clean, I'm cheerful and then I go to work and just bask for a while.

I just had my busiest damned day here. At one point there were about 2 dozen people in the store. I'm lucky my bro was here 'cause I couldn't look after them all. Neat.

K-PAX was fairly predictable, but, I mean, Kevin Spacey. "Meridian" sounds familiar. And, well, Sherilyn Fenn. I'm tempted to start tuning in to Dawson's Creek now that she's on it. But then again, I picked up a movie of hers called "The Shadow Men" once and it was the biggest steaming pile I've ever seen.

I'm going home now. And I'm playing D&D tonight. Let the good times roll. (Dice joke!)

well, friends, i would like to think that we all learned a little something about ourselves this weekend. i learned that just because something is labelled "non-toxic" doesn't mean that you have an obligation to eat it. how 'bout you? use the rest of this thread to discuss the teachins you've been eatins...

i'd like to give a shout out to zoom, yo zoom booyyyyyy, good lookin' out startin' this thread an shiiiit. trijhaos, good luck with financial aid, and keep a lookout for Teen Wolf Too, coming soon to a small screen near you!

next weekend?

Utopia, my friend, it is now next weekend. After the last couple of days' heated discussions here at your friendly neighbourhood underground, it's almost a relief to see so little activity here. What's the plan for the weekend friends? I'm off to do a little dancing after a hopefully productive day at work. What're y'all up to?

Evil.

(Look! I'm Evil now!)

Trijhaos
14:08 / 13.04.02
Productive? That word seems vaguely familiar. Can you perhaps enlighten me as to what one does on a productive day?

I plan on going through the help wanted section of the paper, see that every job wants someone experienced, bemoan my lack of work experience, and then sit down and do some calculus homework in anticipation of the test I have on Tuesday. Then later this evening I will go and eat some tasty authentic mexican cuisine made by real live mexicans.

evil's great, if used for the right purposes...

this is my detox/get yer life back in order weekend. unlike last weekend (which is partly to blame...drinking at 6pm?!), i anticipate actually getting some stuff done.

i'd like to stick around this particular thread and see what's up 120 hours or so later, but i'm off the rest of the barb' for a few days. why, you ask? my temperment is quickly growing ill (and you all know what i'm talking about) and partially removing myself at the moment will save me from any text explosions...

in the end, it's more sad than funny. and this post is more depressing than i thought it would be. sigh. i'll be back later.

ah yes! i almost forgot! philly festival o' world cinema continues tonite! huzzah!

i found out this morning that a magazine of women's sf/fantasy etc fiction that i was going to be in is not coming out now. i'm really upset about it - it was a noble project indeed - but it has pushed me to make sure i publish my own stuff. cos i can't be waiting on others anymore. so i have editing to do. can't be hanging around here anymore today.....

Hi all,

I'm at my Saturday web class... it's a six-hour class, but at least I have internet access the whole time. Tonight I go straight from class to my friend's drag queen pageant? I wrk the spotlight, which makes me feel very manly.

Oop, teacher's started... respect to teacher.
