I think Alex is probably correct in saying it's Pete's woolly quasi-mystical bollockery that's causing him to view this as a Bad Omen. Problem is, that quasi-mystical bollockery comes across, at times, as entitlement - as if Pete reckons it's merely in the natural order of things that he should win.
Oh, no argument from me on that point.
And just for the record, I don't actually dislike Richard- I was just a little disappointed by my perception of last night's events (which clearly differs somewhat from yours, G). Had it been Nikki I wouldn't have batted an eyelid, because it's what I'd have expected. In much the same way as I'm finding Pete increasingly unbearable, even though he's being far less of a dick than, say, well, Nikki again, purely because I'd have hoped he was better than that. |
