I haven't watched any of it this year, but I DID DATE PETE'S EX'S EX.

Has that any monetary exchange value whatsoever?

Yes!

Pete's past seems to be pretty much an enigma trapped in a puzzle that's caught up in a riddle at the moment, so by all means, shed light on it.

If you do phone the tabloids up though, be sure and mention the collection of 'formerly-winged' flies that Pete put together as a younger man, on the basis that he loved them so much he couldn't bear to see them leave.

Did Pete ever go to ICFTS? Surely not! Although if he had, I bet he would have thought it was wicked, man.

I don't have much light, only more murk. Although I was told that Pete said on entering the house 'Who knows if I'll get anything out of this, so please feel free to sell anything you can to the tabloids.' Which is either quite sweet, or a huge pile of self-justification from my ex, whose ex (lesbo love romps with ten inch whopper) is Pete's ex.

I just read this article regarding ITV making a play for the rights to Big Brother...

Apparently the contract between Endermol and C4 expires after 2007- i really can't imagine it going out on ITV- a channel i almost never watch cos its dominated by Ant n Dec n dull dull celeb programs.

Anyone share my hope that it doesn't shift?

Could it be a dumbing down too far or am i just a hopeless channel snob?

I guess i see C4 as the home of BB as its programing reflects a more risque strategy than ITV- if the show went out on ITV i could see much more complaints, censorship etc.

anyone have any thoughts?

(c'mon lets get this thread up to 5000 posts!)

What a daft idea locking the thread when there is still the question of seling BB to ITV...

Yeah, let’s not lock this. This is merely the beginning of the epilogue.

I’m kinda interested in how people think ITV might ruin it. I’m not sure that Channel 4’s BB is particularly risqué (in terms of strategy or content) by today’s standards, and I think viewers of the never popular Love Island might argue that ITV appear to have a stronger stomach for risk than Channel 4 do these days.

From what i've seen of Celeb love island- which isn't much- it seems to be a presenter led show as apposed to letting events dictate themselves.

If ITV got their hands on BB would they keep the format the same or would they play with it- i guess only time will tell, but i fear for it turning bad- more Americanised- think the mess they made of survivor, Love Island, I'm A Celebrity etc... keep it on C4 please.

Well after this year, the format arguably does need to be reworked a bit - at various points (building the second house after the show had started etc) the production team seemed to be running pretty low on ideas. I'm not sure what sort of effect a move to ITV would have - the only thing I watch on ITV is Footballers Wives, so I dare say I've got a slightly skewed idea of it's output, but if it would be possible to transplant some of the FW spirit into the Big Brother house, that might at least make for an interesting experiment. Presumably there'd be more money on the table at ITV, so maybe we could watch the housemates crack up slightly in the lap of absurd luxury for a change.

I don't know how 'family friendly' ITV's supposed to be these days, but if that's still part of it's remit, I suppose something else they could do is introduce some older housemates to the mix, for example someone of the calibre of Aisleyne's Dad. Ok Susie didn't really work out this year, but they do seem to need to widen the contestant gene pool a bit, and that would be one way of doing it. The odd glamorous granny or rock and roll grandad might well be a disaster, but not necessarily a dull one, especially if the grey vote got behind them.

From the wiki.

During her time away from the house, Nikki was given her own TV Show called Princess Nikki which will begin filming soon after this series of Big Brother finishes. The show is basically a semi-remake of The Simple Life, following Nikki as the producers give her different jobs to do, such as working on a farm.

No chance of her clearing mines or something?

I think the older housemate angle is something that could be interesting- i found it a little unsettling that Richard and Lea were constantly refered to as 'old' - there both in their mid 30's fer gawds sake!

I guess those that can take 12 weeks out of their lives aged 30+ limits the casting for BB- I read somewhere that Endemol pay the Housemates a basic wage of something like £250 per week (someone correct me if i've got this wrong)- this is surely less than most adults over 30- not even including paying for childcare etc while in the BB house. Ultimatley this restricts those able to take part in BB to those wealthy enough and those with few responsibilities.

Can anyone add any more on the financial support given to dependents by endemol whilst in the house?

Really enjoyed it (Thanks BitTorrent!). As I stated earlier in the season, very different than the US version (less Survivor-ish, constant competitions, etc.).

Pete seemed like the forgone winner from the beginning, but I'm glad Glyn the Git didn't win. Did they ever explain why Sezer wasn't back for the finale, but George and Shabaz were?

I laughed when I noticed that Shabaz was booing Richard during Dickie's interview.

Overall, a very interesting, entertaining diversion. I just wish that I had known about BitTorrent during last year's.

What I think would make for a good model next year is if they adopted the vote to keep model, bizarrely employed midstream for the bezzie mates evic, for every week and then we could see dross like Susie leave earlier, I'd think.

I also feel a bit better about positive voting, and would be more inclined to do so.
