I know, I know... if I had any credit on my phone I'd be voting Nikki too... I just wish it was next week. Or that I had the night off on Friday. Actually, the second one would be better.

Yes, Nikki's irritant:amusement ratio has been edging up this week, but as yet I'm still voting for Suzie. If you're texting, make sure you spell her name correctly, folks.

13:13 / 13.07.06
Ahead of Nikki? Surely not ...

No, according to the poll Fly linked to a couple of pages ago, Nikki is at 30% with Ash and Susie at around 20% each. So protecting Ash is not a good reason to vote Nikki.

Hating Nikki is, of course.

Apparently they're not strong enough 'characters' and she thinks Jayne will be there till the end

Because Jayne isn't one of the new ones is she? She's been there from the start.

Is the Nikki/Suzie divide tearing our hero team apart?

Nikki's irritatant:amusement ratio has been edging up this week, but as yet I'm still voting for Suzie.

I feel exactly the same. Her whinging is so much less appealing than her tantrums (tantra?), her vendetta against Aisleyne is depressing and I’m getting bored with her threats to leave. However, I still think she’s a net positive in terms of entertainment.

So protecting Ash is not a good reason to vote Nikki.

Except that those polls aren't definitely reliable: the Lea/Richard final vote was only 53%>47% in the end according to Davina, despite being shown as more like 70%>30% in polls.

Actually, I'd probably vote Suzie rather than Nikki, but I keep forgetting she's there.

So what are you saying, Flyboy? For all we know, Aisleyne could be neck and neck with Susie in the lead, with votes for Nikki doing little to protect Ash.

Jayne is right about one thing, though- it would be great for it to kick off between her and Aisleyne. For a start, it'd pretty much save Aisleyne right there.

So that would be SUSIE then, as it is on the official BB site and on DS?

The Falcon
15:29 / 13.07.06
Please do all vote for SUSIE with an 's' (2x), as we've stuck a crisp five on her at 8-1. Nikki was evens and Ais 2-1, roughly, at Betfair but surely neither is less worthy.

Nikki has been exhibiting all the behaviours of a doomed housemate, a la Lea & Lisa this week, however.

I mean, would they be valid? Should they? Considering that a sizeable proportion of the BB voting base is going to be texting drunk, I reckon they should, but I'm just a soppy liberal ...

Nikki & Jayne: the only conceivable partnership in which Nikki could be described as the brains of the operation.

That's got to be good for the White Queen campaign, please.

Jayne is an evil, evil piece of work.

20:41 / 13.07.06
oooh, underhanded.

Jayne saying "it's when someone's been portrayed one way and then you meet them and they're totally not"

i.e. Channel 4 is portraying Aisleyne as a total bitch.

also, Jayne seems a bit sociopathic to me. or she has the memory span of a baby goldfish.

You know how if you watch a spoof or something on TV, you keep thinking that the programme you watch next is still a parody? (That's not just me, is it?) I made the mistake of watching Truly, Madly, Deeply directly before BB and suffered from the same persistence of vision thing. I normally wish only bad things for Jayne, but tonight I kept getting tripped up by this nagging impression that she has profound learning difficulties.

Anyway, how do we think tonight's show will affect polling tomorrow? I thought Nicki came off well in her 'You're like a bull in a china shop' intervention with Jayne, but elsewhere continued her woe-is-me whinging. Probably holding steady.

Susie did nothing, as per. I don't think the rat-gate is going to be a factor in tomorrow's eviction, unless it brings Spoiral into play.
I assume it's Susie's steadfast refusal to do anything interesting that will prove be her fatal flaw, so I don't think she can afford to go about business as usual. I expect (hope) that another day of the same will count against her.

Aisleyne had a good day, I think. Again, I believed her anxiety about exactly what information from the outside world Jayne had been relaying to Nicki. She was in fact remarkably gracious in the circumstances.

So, I reckon it's going to be either Nicki or Susie.

Sweet Bride of Frankenstein but I could cheerfully garrotte Jayne with a bootlace and cake fork. How can it be that nobody in the House has attacked her with a sharpened Nikki yet? Aisleyne must be coming out well from all of this. But Jayne's not a bullshitter like you. She's more of a cowpat, but without the redeeming features of a steaming pile of cattle ordure.

And what fun to watch Mikey with his new batteries in, opening and closing his mouth rapidly, challenged over his Rat Hate, trying again to talk Richard down by operating both of his brain cells in unison and, simultaneously, doing his Stanley Unwin impersonation. Arse.

22:06 / 13.07.06
ganesh, what anti-psychotic drugs would you prescribe to Jayne?

I don't think she's actually suffering from a psychotic illness, so, er, none.

GARDEN FORK to neck as reqd for irritability. That's what I'd prescribe.

Was Glen right to want to kill the rat? Let's not pretend it was 'only a joke,' he'd have murdered the thing without a second thought if the house had been behind him, but then again, he's from a part of the world where people have to make hard decisions about animals all the time.

Also, the rat did seem a little 'phoned in' - in a place where every second or third person has prosthetic breasts, it seems a bit mean to say this, but the rat's dodgy back leg looked a bit 'Heather McCartney.'

Jayne's not a bullshitter like you

In all fairness, I do think Jayne was trying to say "I'm not a bullshitter, like you ('re not)".
Not saying I wouldn't happily twist that fork though.

Mourne Kransky
23:26 / 13.07.06
The rat would have to be a rat with a disability too. And, as Richard and Aisleyne were pointing out, it was a clean rat with no diseases. Apart from the leprosy that was causing its back leg to drop off.

Glad that Pete went and had a cry in the diary room afterwards about how sad he felt for the rat. He is such a nice boy - not like nasty Richard who actually opened his mouth in front of other people voicing their intent to kill the rat and argued with them that they should Save The Rat. Richard, therefore, became the focus of some negative feeling from some of the other boys.

St Pete wisely just beaming his rat-empathy thoughts into the rat as it scuttled away and avoided having to make a stand. Yet again. About anything. Kinnell.

Did Ratty remind anyone else of a former housemate, btw?

Smoothly
23:44 / 13.07.06
I also got the impression that Pete is slightly in love with his own Dolittling empathy with all of god's ickle cweatures.
I had to sort of banish that thought as the tears began to appear, but there definitely seemed to be an element of self-conscious cutsiness in his diary room emoting.

See, I went out for a moment, and when I came back in and heard Glyn saying 'kill it, kill it with a ham-mer' the first thing I thought was 'at last! someone's finally worked out what to do with Jayne!'

Imagine my disappointment, then...

Jub
06:54 / 14.07.06
The whole thing with the rat was pathetic. Definitely got a bit out of hand with everyone getting really involved. Only Susie seemed to see the funny side giggling away in bed as the boys argued about nothing. Blah blah blah.

Evil Scientist
07:37 / 14.07.06
as the boys argued about nothing.

Slight displacement going on methinks. A bit of an over-reaction to this incident to blow some steam off over the general low-grade tension that's been brewing in the hosue for the last month.

There's only so many times that they can hug away the hostility.

I was a tad surprised by Glyn's reaction to the rat. The way he tells it he's from some raw untamed wilderness far away from the decadence and sin of London. Seemed a bit excessive really.

See, I went out for a moment, and when I came back in and heard Glyn saying 'kill it, kill it with a ham-mer' the first thing I thought was 'at last! someone's finally worked out what to do with Jayne!'

In an ideal world VV, in an ideal world.

I'm not voting this week, but I'd rather Nikki goes so that Jayne loses an ally. I want only bad things for Jayne. She hurts the White Queen and...must...PAY!

I, ah, I think I've gotten too involved again.

The poll is now showing Aisleyne edging into second place, with 21% compared to Susie's 20 and Nikki's 30. Why? Well, judging by some of the rest of the internet, it's because she's a poorly educated bully who talks in "patois".

They've been on those numbers since Wednesday at least, Flyboy. I don't put a great deal of stock in that poll.

when I came back in and heard Glyn saying 'kill it, kill it with a ham-mer'

Oh God, now I'm not going to be able to get the idea of Glyn singing the Birthday Party's Just You And Me out of my head...

(I'd disagree that arguing over whether or not to kill an animal was arguing over "nothing", but ymmv).

Incidentally, I'm out of credit... could somebody be lovely and chuck a pint's worth of texts at Nikki, or whoever, in a bid to save Aisleyne for me? I can give them it back in real beer at some point.

Jub
13:31 / 14.07.06
Stoatie, fair enough - but I think I expressed myself badly - I meant what EC said. They were using the rat issue to get at one another when I don't really think Glyn wanted to kill it or anyone else was particularly pleased they had rats.

If Aisleyne goes tonight, I think I'll cry.
