I say race to skill proficiencies. First one with a Death Ray wins.

I'm on Ysera as a Horde Tauren shaman named Tarbh.

We need 10 people at least to start our own US Barbelith guild and 10 silver to buy the charter. Not to mention the 10 gold for our own guild tabard.

So we'll need to pool resources to collect that. I've started a character called BarbeFunds that'll act as our comptroller/depositer.

Does this work for all?

Moominstoat, gnome mage, at your service.

Ironforge, yes? I'll probably log in about 2pm BST Saturday, so try not to stray too, too far.

I've just created him- I'll head for Ironforge now- should have levelled at least once by the time I get there, so I shouldn't be too far behind.

US: (oh, hey -- should we prefix our posts with US/Euro?)

Okies. Right now I'm on the 10-day trial thingy, so I'm not sure if I have guild restrictions before I actually buy the game. Also, that means I only have about 40 silver to my name, and I have a cap on how much money I can earn. Should have the full version by the end of next week though.

Are we going with a theme like the Euros, or kind of an anything goes so long as we're all Alliance/Horde kind of deal?

Ironforge is quite intimidating when you're only level 2, isn't it?

Aertho

I can't imagine walking around IF as a level 2 gnome. Not that you'll die, of course. IF is intimidating to begin with.

My favorite city, too.

If Euros are Gnomes, I guess we could follow suit and roll Tauren. Mulgore is beautiful. I'm just gettng sick of killing quillboars and flatland cougars. Maybe if we posse up it won't be so bad.

I'll fire up a Tauren tonight. Male Druid: Casz

Anyone joined a RP server? My RL friends are on one, and I really like it. Not too heavy in general with the whole RP thang, but once in a while you run across somebody using thees and thys and formalspeak.

I just joined "Laughing Skulls", a "heavy RP" guild to see what it's like. But in order to play, I have to think and type like a female Jamaican cannibal. I really like Jhuuno, my hunter, but it's not easy. "Ya Mon. U B killin me soffly w/ yor song."

Just PMed Tom, cos he probably doesn't read the thread that often, and it'd be cool to meet our glorious leader, even if only in Azeroth!

I'm one RP and one RPPVP server; generally people keep /say and emote stuff properly IC, while the /p /g and /1-n channels are full of OOC talk and heavily abbreviated soulless MMORPG jargon. Which is about right, for me. T's'only a game. I'm still trying to decide whether I condone the practice everyone else in the universe seems to indulge in, that of transferring things between your own characters. I'd be interested to hear other people's thoughts on that one.

I'm honestly of the opinion that variety is the spice of the game. Esp. when it comes to Horde. I played in a guild that was all undead warlocks. It got old reeeeeally fast. But it depends on what the Barbeconsensus is.

So Cassandra, I tried friendlisting you on Ysera but it said your character, Casz, was alliance. :\ Do I have the right Casz?

You mean banking? Or full-on twinking?

My main, Urthona, is herb and skins while I accumulate loot for mount. In the meantime, I've got Phraya and Odn in Ironforge diligently making potions and enchants, while also holding gold, so Urth doesn't spend it. That's my alliance setup.

On Horde, I've got 2 chars that I'm trying to level simultaneously. It's hard because I like Jhuuno more than Malchiel. Unfortunately, one's cloth and the other's leather/mail, so it's proving difficult to properly exchange the products between the two chars.

Whoops. I was premature. At work right now, and was hoping hoping hoping I could get away with such a short name on a new sever/new character later tonight.

I guess I'll just pick some derivitive of Ferdinand, unless there's a better way of building names?

I mean any contact at all between your own characters. I realise that Blizzard not only allow this but tell you that you can do it in the manual, but I have an inherent abhorence for the idea as a legacy from years of LRP, where doing such a thing would almost always be considered terribly bad form. I think the objection is mainly based around the notion that characters which are subject to some overriding control cease to be characters and instead become aspects of a hive mind, or thoughts to that effect.

If Alice and Bob always act in perfect coordination they are not individuals. As an example, if Alice (my character) asks Charlie (your character) to give her some spangles then she can't count on getting them, whereas if Alice (my character) wants spangles from Bob (also my character) she has it guaranteed.

Needless to say my opinion of full-on twinking(OMT), which I suppose means not merely doing this but doing it with some fiendish plan to get one over on other players who don't have the benefit of a legion of hive-mind characters funneling them snackies, is verging on the unprintable.

Ah, shucks, it's not like it matters, it's only a game, and I'm hypocritical enough to like my fellow guild members who do this shit all the time.

I know it's kind of off-topic, but how do you have more than one character in LRP?

I must admit it was quite odd (though I have nothing against it) a few weeks ago when my guild decided to have a group photo- the guild leader had a new character, a gnome called Cameraguy, whose perspective the screenshots were taken from. It was a little disconcerting to see him suddenly freeze up, then hear Cameraguy giggling, then see him start telling people "a little to the left" or whatever...

What´s LRP?

That´s one annoying thing about WoW, there are so much abbreviations! lfm, afk, zul, dudu, etc...

And where are we going to meet? I didn´t pay attention. In the village, where the gnomes start, I guess?

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
22:26 / 16.06.06
I thought it was Ironforge... I can always soulstone back to the village, though. Bear in mind I'm gonna be late, so I'm gonna be catching up with you wherever...

...is everyone gonna be on all day? I can probably do a couple of hours in the afternoon, maybe more with a gap for dog-walking. I'm on a night shift this week, so I'll have to fuck off back to bed at some point...

I´ll at least check during the day. People can use whisper or the search engine (to find lvl 1 - 4 gnomes, for example) to find each other. My name is Mistoffelees, just like in real internet life.

Bear
06:30 / 17.06.06
I've made a tiny little warrior named Bearo I should be on now really although I'll be checking my big bad level 60 to see if an AH item sold and to grind for essesnce of Air.

Bearo and me already played a little in Dun Morogh. We danced and I got killed by a wolf several times.

All righty, Tauren hunter called Angore on Ysera.

Yes, I suck at the serious-sounding fantasy names. Should have just called him Doris.

I have to say - that was extremely good fun, if only because the idea of a pack of tiny gnomes running around causing mayhem is just as much fun as it sounds like it would be. I would really really recommend anyone who gets a chance to join us doing this. It really is extremely good fun. Characters on Nordrassil to bookmark are: Europa, Bearo, Moominstoat, Starstruck and Mistofelees. Honourable mention goes to Ploser, a long-standing gnome in his mid thirties, I think, run by one of our own, who has yet to play with us, but I think will almost certainly do so relatively shortly.

We're going to be playing again tomorrow morning I think (around 11 - assuming I'm not unconscious from the stag-do I'm going to this evening). Bring your tiny gnomes and join us!

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
13:52 / 17.06.06
Yeah, that was ace. In fact, I think I'll pop back for a bit and do some grinding- everyone's a few levels above me.

And it was lovely to (sort of) meet everyone too!

Come join us!

Oh, and anyone who's dubious about being gnomes- don't be. Gnomes fucking rock. And they make the most adorable little squeak when they fall off stuff.

Usually, I never correct people, when they write Mistoffelees wrong, but I want people looking for me to find me, too, so it is Mistoffelees.

And it´s been quite fun so far! Right now, I´m farming leather and herbs, because my character is flat out broke.

We will really need a healer in our group.

Since gnomes can´t be priests or druids or paladins, I suggest that I start a dwarf paladin, so I can heal and fight (and wear amazing body armour...).

Aertho
17:52 / 18.06.06
Well yes, you could, but why not choose Alchemy and First Aid and distribute bandages and health potions instead? Not as fast or easy, but more consistent with the whole mob of gnomes motif... sup to you really.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

I'm working on my First Aid... I think someone else (maybe Tom)? has alchemy.

Mistoffelees
22:15 / 18.06.06
Okay, no dwarf paladin.

And yes, first aid is really helpful. My main char is almost first aid 300 and those bandages work wonders!

13:03 / 19.06.06
Rumour has it that at some point I'll be able to fire up those Goblin Jumper Cables, which might help us a touch with the healing; think I need about 40odd more points in Engineering before I can use 'em, it shouldn't be too far away.

Aertho
13:10 / 19.06.06
The cables ressurrect, giving you even MORE priest/pally options. Problem is, engineered things sometimes backfire. Random fun-ness.

Bear
16:03 / 19.06.06
Jumper Cables hardly ever backfire but they also hardly ever work! Bombs are good though and you can't beat the mind control cap!

I got hooked up helping people on the Horde side but I'll be back as my little gnome warrior soon enough - I imagine I have some major power leveling to do to catch you folks though.

Kiltartan Cross
16:32 / 19.06.06
There's something very appealing about engineering. Little Starstruck was walking around with two types of dynamite, copper bombs, a whole stack of rockets, a blunderbuss and Biggles goggles last I checked...

Mistoffelees
16:44 / 19.06.06
That´s good to know. Next time we play, I´ll be 20 feet behind you.
