I don't have the issue in front of me at this second, but when the girl walks into Desaad's office and he's taking over her mind, he keeps talking about Anti-life, and it sounded to me as if he's hinting that Darkseid has finally solved the anti-life equation. Is it possible that he has, and maybe that's why the New Gods are powerless bums who can barely remember who they are? Because Darkseid has finally won and they're trying to find a way to stop him?

The character in that thread are, from L to R:

Orion, Metron, Jezebelle of the Fiery Eyes, Don't know (probably Lightray or Fastbak), Big Bear, Beautiful Dreamer, Bug, and Highfather.

Jezebelle is from the Gerry Conway/Don Newton "Return of the New Gods" run, infamously known for putting Orion in a generic superhero costume with an O on the chest. Oddly enough, she, Bug and Highfather are all supposed to be dead.

The eyes, the shoulder strap, and the hint of a disc on his back all remind me of Forager. The only major difference is that his original mask covered his mouth.

The guy between Jez and Big Bear is harder to place. The only reason I have him down as Fastbak is that it would likely amuse Darkseid to put a speedster in a body with a missing leg.

While I enjoyed the first issue, I thought it was the weakest 7S so far... I didn't really "get into" it- unlike, say Klarion, which had me going "fuck! I've got to wait HOW LONG for the next one?", I wasn't overly excited. Really seems to be picking up now, though... gonna have to go back and re-read #1, which I wasn't gonna bother doing until they were all out.

Shilo is not Scott Free, and Scott Free is not the New God of Freedom anymore. He quit his divinity. So now the God of Freedom manifests through Shilo. Scott Free is a normal human with some gadgets. new Gods are pentadimensional forms manifesting-trapped in human bodies. The war is now being fought on earth, in our four dimensions. This is the new Gods seen with the eyes of Morrison´s cosmology

I've been looking for about 20 minutes now. Does anyone else recall a post or a thread that dissects the New God archetypes? Like says Orion is Thor/Hercules, Highfather is Zeus/Odin/Jehovah, and argues whether Darkseid is Satan or Hades/Ares? Cause I could've sworn that thread had another argument for Mister Miracle being the risen god without the solar encoutrements. Basically, Jesus.

Yes, Cia, I think I have as firmer grasp of Morrison's cosmology as anyone here. And my post demonstrated the fact. What do u think I mean when I refer to squidgods other than pentadimensional whatevers? I've read Zenith. I know what "star-headed" means. I know what Edith became in Invissy vol 3 ish 5, etc., just like the rest of you. However, I'm willing to accept that Shilo is literally a new God, but not because I give one shit for continuity (Scott quitting), but because of what Boboss said. There's an affirmative action agenda going on w/ the SS books.

As I said, I'll admit the possibility. Not for any affirmative-action reasons, but because it fits the plot. It's not impossible (given the various changes in hair color et al) that the New Gods were not transformed into mortal forms, but merely trapped in mortal hosts.
