Grant Morrison's amazing SEVEN SOLDIERS saga continues with a 4-part miniseries featuring art by Pasqual Ferry (ADAM STRANGE)! A young Shiloh Norman is all grown up, and now, with the help of his Mother Box —an alien computer —he has become the world's coolest escape artist, a cross between David Blaine and Puff Daddy. After a hallucinatory encounter with the being called Metron, the formerly aimless and dissatisfied Mister Miracle finds himself with a new mission in life. He now believes he has evidence of an apocalyptic cosmic war being fought through human agents on Earth! Shiloh's seen the light. He knows the score —and he may have lost his mind!

It ships SEPTEMBER 21ST

David Blaine and Puff Daddy aren't cool.

That annoyed me for a while, then I just imagined Puff Daddy encased in ice, and I felt so much better.

Probably not what Grant intended, but I wouldn't be dissapointed with a few panels of that

So *shuffles feet* guess I'm the only one who wishes there was a Seven Soldiers Watchtower just to see Jake Jordan and Shilo Norman eating out of the vending machine together. Shilo all making room for his entourage, Jake all waiting for Klarion to get off the phone so he can call his wife to see how she's doing...

Okay, so how does Shiloh Norman fit into the Mister Miracle mythos? I know he's there, but does he figure in Kirby's run, or did he turn up later?

Well. I do kinda want a big team-up in SS#1, but not like a Giffen book. Less chatty, more fighty.

Shiloh was a kind of assistant to Scott Free, I think it was in the Kirby run, he got caught up in some case, then became a young trainee for a while, then popped up again in the modern series as an adult.

Ahh, but who would lead?

I vote Zatanna.

And of course, SS HQ would be the Starguard Tower...

Shilo goes back as far as the Kirby run. He showed up in the second ongoing, and took Scott's place as MM in the Justice League for a while. From the beginning, tho, he was more interested in law enforcement. (When last seen, he was the warden of the Slab in Joker: Last Laugh.)

One assumes Grant is ignoring most of this.

Yeah, that's the risk with "revamps" isn't it? It can come across as shitting on what's come before. Brings to mind the "every character is someone's favourite" quote - was that Gruenwald?

Also - was the second MM ongoing done by Kirby? I thought not.

Aug, lovely to have you here, mate, but please, please, please cease with the signing off. It just ain't done around these parts - except by Matsya, and I swear he does it to wind me up.

Looks really brill, does this, although I hope Morrison's going to careful with the whole comic within a comic, meta-narratuve thing. We've been there rather a lot over the last few years.

Based on the solicits, I think only his enounter with Metron (the dude in the cosmic barcalounger) will be in that style.

Yup. Looks luvverly. I've a huge soft spot for Mr Miracle, so naturally I'm excited. Remember MM's entrance on the Justice League Watchtower in Grunt's JLA? That's how to make an entrance...

Right.

Ferry's art looks tight.

I love how everybody shines their shoes to work with Gigli Matterhorn.

According to the new LITG, Pascual Ferry is only drawing ONE issue of MIRACLE MAN. Some fella named Bill Dallas Patton is finishing the series.

Anybody got the scoop on this guy & his art?

OK, that's MISTER MIRACLE, not Miracleman, Marvelman, Litigious McSpawn Tar Babyman...

All it says is that he's "finishing up a miniseries for DC," or something to that effect. However, if the shoe fits...

I definitely don't like what I saw on his site as much as I liked the Pascual Ferry preview pages. Why the hell can't Morrison keep a steady artist for... four... goddamn... issues.

Is the man cursed, or does he just pick flaky artists? As long Igor Kordey doesn't poke his head in, it could be worse.

Bill Dallas is not quite my cuppa, but his stuff looks fairly cool too. Maybe MM will be a breakout book, chance to expand his repertiore, etc.

Gah. Didn't read that bit. Still don't like the art. Looks more suited to Ultimate X-Men, or something like that, than a Morrison book.

However, having checked out some work by this Madureira character who's taking over the Ultimates, Dallas looks sublime in comparison. It is unfortunate, though. Any idea why Ferry can't do it?

1. What is Cameron's opinion? Personal, professional, or otherwise?
2. I was going to suggest extending a invitation to join Barbelith to this fellow, but I think he's a bit too... check out the "books" he's "written". More: his "illustration" section is actually more comic art.

19:28 / 31.08.05
hmm...his art doesn't seem ALL that far from Ferry's work, actually. The preview pages show a sort of muscular bright costume, slightly squat look for superhero's, which Dallas seems to do as well. Hard to tell from the faces in Ferry's work, but they don't look that much better than Dallas. Might be alright.

Yotsuba & Benjamin!

The problem, potentially, is Ferry's style is all pencil. If Billbo doesn't do the same it will be even more jarring than it would've already been if it was just an artist switch.

Damn you, Photoshop! Do you see what you have wrought?
