Xoc dude you need cable... (its cheap witha phone and E4 is on freeview now... menace nesh)

Craig has just had a hissy fit 'i can't believe it'

'it's going to be no fun'

and sacrifial mode

' i just wanna go...'

much more us and them talk etc.

I half wish that maxwell had stayed for entertainment/ conflict but i loathed the man.

if you missed Sciences party you missed Craig not enjoying himself (till nearly the end) Eugine not drinking but eating a lot of crisps and science smoking a fat cigar trying to explain to maloko that 'fight for your right (to party)' was a classic...

Anthony is waiting for the Diary room... or running away from craigs longing gaze...

Eugine wants a tea.. ad break...

I think it is. Saturday or Sunday lunchtimes. But have thrown out the Guardian Guide to the week's tv with a thousand other things today, so can't tell you for sure.

Everyone, especially Science and Maxwell, were so suprised when his name was called out. I wonder why Science thought it would be him. I think he expects people not to like him while Maxwell is the opposite.

I wonder why Science thought it would be him.

I think everyone in the house had pretty much told science they thought Maxwell would stay. Also Saskia very vocally pegging him as her favourite to win. its got to influence the way you think.

was good to see the shock though, not very impressed with the cigargate situation cureently going on- Science or Eugine next week i think- possibly craig?

I'm guessing next week Makosi will be up for execution. The housemates this year have been good at identifying anyone who seems like a potential 'winner' and then attacking them like wild dogs (Saxwell, Maskia, arguably even Roberto, the Italian Stallion,) so I'd imagine there'll be enough people in there thinking about how to clean Makosi's clock to at least get the mindless slattern put up for nomination. Or at least I hope so anyway - such is my loathing of Makosi and her mischevious ways that if she isn't back cleaning toilets for the NHS in the next six months (having been 'busted back to traffic,' as it were, ) I may have to kill myself.

Gutted about Maxwell though.

I get the impression that, for Science, outsiderdom is an important element of self-image - so that, when he wasn't evicted on Friday, his 'reality tunnel' really took a bomb or two. He seemed as flabbergasted as Maxwell did (although neither of them became catatonic, like Craig).

Lots of comment on the digitalspy board about Makosi's visa being tied to her nursing post and how any impending career change would result in a plane ticket back to Zimbabwe. Don't know if there's any truth in that, although work visas can be tricky like that. However, after recent court case, UK Gov have suspended forcible repatriations to Zimbabwe have they not, at least temporarily. Should avert Clarke sending his Boyz into the House to remove her to a Detention Centre for a bit yet.

Impressed with Anthony taking care of drunken Science in tonight's highlights show. He could go all the way on his present showing, unless Team Diva puts him up for eviction against another favourite. Still all to play for.

And cannot believe Craig's instant switch from I'm so wretched I may sulk myself to death to Partay City Boy the minute Christina Aguilera came on the tannoy. Vile creature!

And don't forget the big lie to Anthony about being told by BB he "had to have a good time", or else he would be "punished". That was a lie wasn't it? I didn't see it, anyway.

I got the impression BB had issued a general order to party people to wear their tee-shirts and to make the effort, can't remember exactly what was said. I didn't hear BB tell Craig they would pull his toenails out if he didn't pretend he was at GAY after a few eccies but perhaps they did.

Oh, the pleasure of being able to loathe someone with no responsibility whatsoever to look for their good points and be diplomatic that BB affords.

Perhaps I'm a soft touch but I was so pleased by the message from Kemal's family and then he went and sobbed in the bedroom because he's been so worried about it and I just felt so... I don't know, sorry even though they'd already said it was alright, relieved, worried and then fucking Craig sat in the garden and muttered about his parents knowing that he's arrrggghhhh, gay. He is such a fucking div. They so clearly don't give a toss and he's determined to make it a drama. Grrrrrrr.

Kemal's parents' message - and his reaction to it - was extremely moving. Not a dry eye in this house.

Indeed. A splendid thing to witness. Derek seemed particularly to catch the vibe but so did many others.

Poor Craig. Dad's main thrust was Bastards didn't let me in there with you and I would have been so good at it and mum's double bind was A mother's love is unconditional, no matter what you've done and said in there (you selfish, insightless, snivelling little whinger... )

OK, I made the last bit up.

Ganesh
22:31 / 10.07.05
Or possibly unconditional (whoever you are, you big ol' gayer). Interesting contrasting Kemal's shock/relief at his parents' acceptance of his sexuality with Craig's continued dancing around the fact - even when his parents hint that yes, they know, and yes, it's fine.

Kemal's dad was interviewed in Heat some weeks ago. He's a keen amateur Elvis impersonator, who looked chunkily cute in his quiff and white rhinestone Vegas schmutter. He was always going to be accepting of a spot of glam.

Craig taking about Derrick:

"He's a sneaky bastard, but I'm getting wine out of it"

His voice is REALLY annoying. How anyone watch this for more than ten minutes at a time? (seriously)

Who were that couple from a few series ago, the blonde Welsh woman and that guy from Norwich or somewhere (wasn't he called Craig, as well?), the guy who always said "D'y'know what I mean?" all the time? (sorry for all the question marks)

Alistair Mcgowan had a field day with those two, and I reckon the guy's voice is dangerously close to Craig's. As for 'Tony, he's like a frightened child who's on the cusp of developing a stutter because he keeps expecting someone to interrupt him; and all he seems to say is like that old therapist's trick of reflecting and rephrasing what has just been said by a patient.

e.g. (not taken from the actual show)

"It's the kind of person I am."

"Yeah, I know what you mean. I mean, well, I mean, you're that kind of person, aren't you? Do you know what I mean?"

(BTW, I fucking hate verbal ticks! D'y'know what I mean? Like.)

Also, do you remember those two Geordie Interviewer-type characters from 'The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer'? I keep thinking of them whenever I hear 'Tony speak.

e.g. "Mista Sting? When you're in bed with ya whyfe and ya need to fart, do ya open a window or do ya rawl awe-va and bumf on her head?"

(sorry for the triple post)

Another deeply suspect 4am conversation in which Craig asks Anthony whether his parents are "pure English". Considerable Digital Spy acrimony over what might've been might by such a question (DS has long since separated into "that's racism" and "that's political correctness" camps). A poster who witnessed the exchange on live footage commented

I saw some of the convo too.Anthony told him to shut up or words to that effect,Craig said "Why? I'm just proud to be English" and Anthony said something about how he already knew what Craig's views were about that and just didnt want him to either "go too far" or "say too much".I forget which of the two expressions he used as I was dropping off to sleep, but Anthony was definitely warning Craig to keep his mouth shut about his views about "being English" with the implication that viewers wouldn't like to hear what else Craig had to say about it.

Hmm. This, coming hot on the heels of the "are you patriotic" conversation suggests that Craig has some very real issues about race - which, for some reason, are not being shown in the edited highlights. Perhaps Endemol have decided to concentrate on the unrequited-love-for-Anthony angle and don't want to complicate their narrative with incipient racism?

Ganesh, I think you may be right. There was a point last night during that conversation in the hot-tub when the BB mute button seemed to be pressed a little too late as Craig said:

"Big Brother's really pissed of with me because-"

Considering what was said earlier in this thread about rumours of Jade Goody being groomed during that particular series by Big Brother, I'm starting to think this whole thing may be more stage-managed than I'd originally suspected.

Endemol are airing a programme in which the housemates can say anything and they're meant to broadcast it. But would you really broadcast the words of a stupid, vile boy with no perception of the media at all? They could get him into real trouble for showing off to his new friends. Of course they're not broadcasting every racist thing he says. Forget the narrative and think about Mr. Naivete getting kicked in the stomach on the street because you, Endemol producer made the decision to show everyone that he was an ignorant twit.

Good point, Nina.

But to me this is about being responsible for showing the "truth" (despite the obvious technical difficulties involved), and not about protecting some misguided little twat who chose to go on the program and should have been made aware of ALL the "risks" beforehand. No?

Forget the narrative and think about Mr. Naivete getting kicked in the stomach on the street because you, Endemol producer made the decision to show everyone that he was an ignorant twit.

I think it's both: a conscious attempt to streamline narrative and at least some responsibility to protect housemates from being publicly lynched. Where do they draw the line, though? What informs the decision that it's okay to air Saskia's non-racist-racism, for example, but not Craig's? The act of deciding what does and doesn't go out influences swathes of the voting public, and thus creates narrative.

Dear "Craig",

Move to Manchester, form a band, develop a cult following of boys-who-aren't-gay who will sing "Eng-er-lund", play live, tear your shirt off, get mobbed, move to LA, have a comeback, return to Engerlund, the end.

Will Craig have time to grow a 'suedehead' before he's unceremoniously kicked out of the house and into a cold and uncaring world ?

From Anthony's POV, (or from the POV of Craig imagining Anthony's POV, anyway.) it could have been written for Craig, that song... Especially if it turns out things don't really work out with 'the flat.'

'Im so very sickened
oh, I am so sickened NOW'

('But you weren't before, were you, Anthony, you cow?')

Oh well, best not thought about I suppose.
