The NY Post had a picture 2 days ago of swingin' spidey holding Gwen/Bryce Dallas Howard. It looked ok; she didn't look all that Gwen-ish except for the boots. Just one pic, though, hardly a definitive visual of course.

And it may be far too fanboy for me to want Gwen Stacy to have long hair and not a short moptop, but there it is. Plus a black 60s-esque headband, please...retro is in now, doncha know. Seriously, though, I trust Raimi. Shutting up now.

You know, watching this, I realize how especially well-suited (no pun intended) Raimi is for the ooey-gooey creepy Venom stuff, given his horror background. In the comics, Venom never read to me like some truly SCARY grotesque thing, he just seemed like a super-cool villain for our hero. In this trailer, the Venom entity looks like it's straight out of a horror movie, and the tone evoked here is one of creeepy suspense and seriously unsettling, unnatural alien ooooooze. Me likey.

One super-quick shot of Franco-as GG II. And MJ back apparently romancing....Harry/Franco? I thought Brock would be Peter's rival for MJ in this, and Pete gets a rival for MJ in Gwen. (of course, that scene could be MJ consoling/just talking with Harry, who knows, it's a split-second clip)

Ooooh, totally. Also, from this trailer, I totally get a sense of why I think Gwen is in the movie. Because bad Peter, well, he'll go off romancin' other ladies. I dunno, I know it's only a tiny trailer, but there seems to be a sense of how everything is going to click in to place.

Thats a pretty slick trailer. I think Topher Grace looks way better in the role then I expected.

I am looking forward to this way more then I was Spiderman 2.

I'm kinda hoping Madame Web shows up in one of these sequels. She was kick-ass in the cartoon. She doesn't necessarily have to be the omnipotent spider-lady from the show, though. I'd settle for a creepy old lady in thick glasses bumping into Petey and muttering something cryptic. Maybe he and MJ see a fortune teller on the street and MJ drags him over to see her, and she gives him some spooky message about power or responsibility or who's going to win the next American Idol. Or something. Hey, I'm just saying.

I've never paied much attention to Grace's teeth, but it looks like's they're getting spikey.

The footage ended with Topher's Eddie Brock feeling something black and gooey hit his hand--obviously the symbiote--and it cuts to the very first image of the computerized Venom, who looks exactly like he does in the comic book if rendered in 3D, looking straight into the camera with his jaws wide open and drooling.
