Watching the repeats now. Had a wonderful mini-BB party evening with Sleaze and Cherie, quaffing champagne to celebrate Nadia's glorious win.
And, on balance, I do still think it was a glorious win. I also don't resent the Spamster - for whom, I'll admit, I had a soft spot all along - too much. I think Dan's correct: he and Nadia actually had quite a lot in common, in terms of having constructed gender-personae for themselves in which their self-esteem was largely invested in outward presentation/appearance. Nadia has, naturally, been more successful in this than Jayboy.
The soundtrack for Jay's 'best bits' was probably the most apt: 'Gay Bar' and 'Fit But You Know It'. It's very noticeable, watching the footage again, that he's almost entirely unable to watch himself: despite spending a vaaast amount of time and effort pumping, preening, bronzing, zhouzhing, the self-loathing/criticism still rules supreme. It's also easy to confirm, looking back, that the majority of his significant interactions were with Dan; the stuff with Victor wasn't deemed worthy of repetition. I think that's also true in terms of psychological development: Jason's time spent in VicWorld didn't advance his Selfawarian experience a whit.
