Thanks for the update Nelson, about both the JE site and DFHT.

As well as being admirable artistically, the tonal addition to your art on DFHT evokes a noiresque atmosphere that invokes greater emotional content from both it and the story.

Did you use Photoshop?

I dunno, I kind of thought that the grey wash obscures some of the detail (and the fun little things in the detail) in your work Nelson particularly in the 'splash scenes'...

Thanks Withiel (you're a brave man. I haven't changed those socks in weeks)...

...and Tunnel (yeah, the greys are Photoshop. Glad the heightened mood comes across, that was an element of Flyboy's script that I didn't think had quite been done justice to, all those isolated pockets of light, habitation and warmth played against the rainsodden melancholia)...

...and Sleaze... Ah, but you see, perhaps the only real reason for this burst of revisionism was to obscure and/or draw the viewer's attention away from certain bits of shabby drawing that had been bugging me for months. That would certainly be true of the Cuppa Cha Cha party scene, at any rate - the folk in the background are decidedly ho-hum.

But seriously, I think your issue might be addressed by the hi-res printed version when it eventually sees the light of day.

Excellent work! Although there are a few places where I feel the tonal stuff is a little too much (maybe too visually dense in certain areas), overall I really like it. And it just reminded me of this wonderful story you two put together, and got me all psyched for ....JENNY NOWHERE!!! (nihilist chain smoker that she is or seems to be)

Quality! Excellent work, Meludreen. I love that these are going to be in colour even more than I love that we've had a preview in b&w first.

Most dashing use of the fabled Scarf to date, too.

Insisting that my dancing days with Jenny were over hasn't stopped me from idly assembling a monstrously self referential Shifter script and some pleasant Wacom doodles over the last few months. The resulting morsel should emerge once I've plugged the gaps.

How you getting on with yours, FinderWolf?

Yay - I've been looking forward to seeing the art for grant's script there for a while... can't wait to see the finished thing...

Oooh! Meludreen, that is a Thing Of Beauty. I really, really like the way you've inked those pages (amongst other things), and especially like the panoramic moneran panel at the top. Also, Your Lettering > My Lettering (I think that's the right way around).

When I've finished drawing Impulsivelad's script for him (which will be a treat once finished), I will finally get round to drawing Jenny Everywhere Vs The Underworld. Which should be about 12 pages long and great fun. I hope...

Melu, that looks fantastic!

I'm on page 5 of my 8-page story...it's been slow going but it's fun.

Lack of sleep and THE HOT means that I have now started drawing my Jenny story straight away. And colouring it on the page, with...interesting results. I think it's a bit more energetic than my other stuff, anyway.

Thanks guys! I'm glad you all like them. Hopefully they'll be thrice as nice when they're all done.

Withiel, that's really cool. Colours are indeed great, 'specially the sunlight and bedsheets. I'm also liking those demonic faces and the wee falling Jenny a lot. The only thing I'm not too sure about is the hand, but apart from that, top hole! I'm Eager to see the rest of it.

Ahem.

Jenny Everywhere in: "Jenny Everywhere VS Hell!" Part 1 (of two). Written and scribbled by me.

Page One
Page Two
Page Three
Page Four
Page Five
Page Six

(Apologies for the slightly worse quality scans at the end: I don't have access to my usual scanner, and the programme I use to clean them up is different here as well.)

(Alex Thoth: I'm about to start work on the Bug again, now I've got my drawing mojo back, so please don't injure me.)
(Meludreen: You're absolutely right about the hand: the idea was to draw, ink and colour it all as un-neurotically as possible, because I was getting really really hungup on my drawing at the time. Therefore, although it probably contains more errors and imperfections than the rest of my work, I reckon the good bits are much better and more full of energy.)

Part Two is coming soon, in which Jenny talks a lot less like a Warren Ellis protagonist. Honest

User Exceeded Bandwith when I tried to view 'em.

Psyched to see a new Jenny story, though. I'm currently on page 6 of 8 --- gotta finish!!

Also, what's a tip to get a better quality scan for when I'm done, to post images? I want the final scanned pages to be less 'bloopy' and better pixel quality (or whatever the heck it's called) for when I present them to the world...

ERGH! They're really, really small, but just about still legible. I will attempt to fix this tomorrow.

EDIT: fixed

Finder: try setting a higher resolution on your scanning programme: eg 300dpi rather than 75dpi.

Very fond of p. 3. Specially the critter at the bottom, making the panels.

Commendable. The best way to let your natural style come out in my opinion. It's working btw. I echo grant on the page three tip. Colouring is great too. Bring on the next stuff.

When I view those pages on my screen, they're too small - when I print them out, it prints a super-close up of the upper left hand corner of the page only. Any way to view these better in order to read them?

Withiel: DALI'S ROTTWEILER
23:09 / 21.10.05
Err. What are you viewing them in? If you look at them in Firefox there should be a helpful zoom function. Equally, in IE, if you mouseover the image for long enough, an icon appears that will allow you to make the images bigger if you click them.

Jenny's a cool character. Almost as cool as Oddman.

Seriously though, I am working on a story. This character is great fun.

Count me in as someone among the JE devotees who are devising a story -- actually devising it with another Barbelith member, without whom it wouldn't have happened, I'm sure -- and aside from some minute tinkering with the 22 (Yes. 22.) pages, it shouldn't take too long to create the finished and inked pages.

File this post under "Hype."*
