The music from the new Anon video sounds Godspeed You Black Emperor-ish.

I know that for one of their earlier videos they used a particularly good piece by Explosions in the Sky, who are similar in sound to Godspeed.

However, I am slightly ashamed that this is the best I have to offer this thread right now.

Dude, your last post in this thread was pretty fucking epic. And yes, I for one quietly enjoyed your WIN.

That fair gaming video was a hoot. The music is from those 1930s Little Rascals/Our Gang shorts.

NPR gave the Clearwater protests a mention this morning. The reporter maxed out his sarcasm allotment for the day over the sentance, "A scientology spokesman called the Anonymous group %%terrorists%%."

Big ups to Anons everywhere. This just gets better and better.

Yeah, I'm into your win too, M. Directo. I get the feeling things like that are happening all over the place. The growth of the Anomenon has slowed of late, but i get the feeling that actions such as those will see the whole thing breaking the bankai some time soon.

The social proof is in place, y'know?

Barbelith prides itself on being a place for meaningful, substantive discourse on a wide variety of topics. I realize that in this topic especially, I've been among those prone to low-content even cryptic posting. But AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Whew.

Huhuhuh.

Yeah, that's pretty special.

And from Digital Spy, the Fresh Prince says it ain't so!

They could have done without the bit about bomb threats, though.

Amazing Radar Online article on Scientology and Anonymous. Hits all the bases, and includes a 10pg rebuttal from the Church of Scientology.

Comments at the bottom are already getting *interesting.*

Best intro to the situation I've yet read.

Quick enturb update- anyone else having problems reseting their password, I just logged in and the email they apparently sent me 20-odd hours ago is there! So it's all working, it's just very, very slow. I'll chuck 'em a few quid when I next get paid, cos I think their servers are suffering.

Sadly, the bomb threat video's looking like it might be a red herring- a couple of Anons claim to have replicated the HD effect working from the original YouTube video, but I don't understand such tech stuff and am waiting until someone explains it in words I can understand. Which would still only lead us back where we began, with a strong possibility of Co$ black propaganda but no smoking gun.

This is something Barbelith and its friends may be in a good position to help with- someone from Enturb's been contacted by Diva magazine, who are interested, but want to know if anyone knows any ex-$cilons who are lesbians to help them angle it for their audience. (Hopefully the Co$'s inherent homophobia will be enough, but the MOAR coverage they can give us the better, so the MOAR interested we can get them also the better!)

With PC World on our side (well, not REALLY, but picking up some negative stories and chucking in a couple of good plugs for Enturb as well), how can we fail?

If this is all true, it's yet another example of how Co$ just doesn't understand the modern world. How could you NOT get caught out, especially when most of your critics are online?

Actually, the whole "not getting how shit works" thing...

...I think what looks like it might be their major Achilles heel (as well as the whole thing about "thinking you're superior to everyone makes it a dead cert you'll underestimate your enemy", which is kind of hard for them to get round) is that they have no conception of NOT FEEDING TROLLS.

Paulette Cooper's book would probably have caused a bit of a stir and then been forgotten (c'mon, it's twenty years later now!) HAD THEY NOT MADE A BIG DEAL OF IT. Same with the Tom Cruise video.

A friend of mine said a while back "all they've got to do is wait, and the internet will get bored". They can't do that, though. Naming Anons, releasing that DVD... they really are their own worst enemy. Attacking their critics is the number one way of giving the critics credibility.

You just keep on kicking that wasps' nest, guise! ENJOY YOUR STUNG.

Wired says Anonymous may be intentionally causing epileptic attacks.

Bizarre story.

"Everyone who logged on, it affected to some extent, whether by causing headaches or seizures," says Browen Mead, a 24-year-old epilepsy patient in Maine who says she suffered a daylong migraine after examining several of the offending posts. She'd lingered too long on the pages trying to determine who was responsible.

Circumstantial evidence suggests the attack was the work of members of Anonymous, an informal collective of griefers best known for their recent war on the Church of Scientology. The first flurry of posts on the epilepsy forum referenced the site EBaumsWorld, which is much hated by Anonymous. And forum members claim they found a message board thread -- since deleted -- planning the attack at 7chan.org, a group stronghold.

Fultz says the attack spawned an uncommonly bad seizure. "It was a spike of pain in my head," she says. "And the lockup, that only happens with really bad ones. I don't think I've had a seizure like that in about a year."

But she's satisfied with the Epilepsy Foundation's relatively fast response to the attack, about 12 hours after it began on Easter weekend. "We all really appreciate them for giving us this forum and giving us this place to find each other," she says.

I honestly don't know what to make of this.

Unfortunately, the epilepsy raids are pretty much confirmed to have emanated from the *chans. the enturbulation crowd has been pretty level headed about disowning these actions and explaining to outsiders that one anonymous consensus doesn't really have anything to do with another consensus.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

Yeah, that's *chan stuff, I'm guessing. Something like this was bound to happen sooner or later. There've been a few *chan actions recently that were, as always, pretty fucking hideous. There's been a lot of tension, too, with there also being a lot of criticism of such stuff on the *chans themselves- more so than previously. Now, I guess, is when we find out how the "new" Anonymous and the *chans deal with each other when the two are publicly connected.

Enturb have been a pretty good barometer of disapproval (well, I haven't been on there yet today, but last night it seemed to be so), though I think the mods' trying to stop there being too many threads on it may have been a little counter-productive. Threatening instant banning for people starting new threads on it who may not have noticed there was already one spread across such an unwieldy site as Enturb may be a little heavy-handed.
