I think Alex G. Mother was taking the piss, Ganesh.

Ganesh
17:04 / 20.05.06
Really? I got the impression Alex was stating his opinion. As was I.

If you've correctly divined his intent and he didn't actually mean what he said, then I was taking the piss too. Honest.

Alternatively, if this is a variant on "don't take Big Brother so seeeriously, Ganesh", then, with all due respect, fuckbiscuits to you. 'Tis a serious business, y'know.

Is Nikki 5? What a spectacularly childish attempt to control events.

She's getting me proper angry.

Shabaz is just bizzare, he doesn't seem to understand boundaries - social, physical, conversational - at all.

If you can form coherent sentences and aren't vomiting with pain, it's not a migraine, it's a fucking headache.

For fuck's sake.

Jerry, some migraines only come with colors, so I don't see how that can be true. I've known several people who could talk and even walk around and accomplish minor tasks, like boiling tea, with honest-to-jove diagnosed-by-a-doctor migraines.

Spaniel
20:24 / 20.05.06
Yes, but let's be clear, at no point was Nikki suffering from a migraine, or even a headache - her fellow housemates, however, after all her shouting and "crying", well, that's another story.

Tom Paine's Bones

Hmm, if you mean that colours sometimes come as the initial symptom before the onset of the full migraine I agree that's the case with the 'classic' migraine..

But she was talking as if the migraine was in full swing already.

While I'll admit to possibly being somewhat hyperbolic on the vomiting (which isn't always the case) isn't a migraine characterised by severe-chronic pain in all cases?

Right, disclosing that I'm not actually watching BB, so I have no idea if she even looked like she might have a headache coming on. I just read the thread for the articles.

But one can get migraines with no pain whatesoever, so I'd imagine one could get migraines with varying degrees of pain as well.

I just watched a clip of the incident, thanks to a link on Digital Spy. The only pain involved was the agony being inflicted on the other inhabitants of the house and the viewers.

(O/T- thanks for that link, entity- I thought I was the only one. Every few months I wind up blind, and nobody takes it seriously cos my head doesn't hurt).

O/T- Thanks for that link. I'd not come across that condition before. There seems to be some confusion even among medical sources however. This source, for example, see migraines as a type of headache. Aura migraines look like a serious problem, but they appear to me to be a related condition as opposed to an identical one.

Back on topic, has there been any update on Shahbaz 'leaving'? Or has he just quietly dropped the subject? (I don't have cable sadly).

*FINALLY!* After a tragic problem with my Sky box which meant I missed both the beginning and the first few days of BB, and I'm just getting a glimpse of these people for the first time on BB Live. Who is that scary woman with the straw hair and orange skin?

I'd like to thank all of you for keeping me up to date

This year I am determined not to let BB-hating boyfriends deter me from getting sucked in!

My BB inspired shame spiral continues, as I have just brought the news of the world because it had the most pages devoted to BB. Of course nothing about what has happened in the house, just who nikki had a lesbian romp with for eight months etc. However - interesting side tangent; from the photographs in the paper, it looks like Nikki may have gone to the same plastic surgeon as orlaith from last year, as they both have exatly the same boobs now (kinda wonky, suprised he gets so much work). Coincedence? I think not.

Slezer is starting to annoy rather a lot already - I was glad to see Grace rolling her eyes at him, and even Mikey seems to occasionally pull a face that says "I really hate women quite a lot, and even I think this guy needs to tone it down."

Just watching the repeat of last night's show and it's entertaining purely for Dawn's face when she's in the diary room with the screaming Nikki ("I want my bottle!!!1!"). I wish we could get a psychic brain-tap in there, maybe some subtitles... "What the fuck am I doing in here with this five-year-old-acting snot-machine? I hate people. Would it be rude to put my fingers in my ears? This is really loud. I'm nominating this one."

Sezer is really quite disgusting with da laydeez, inny? I hope he gets kicked out quickly, it would dent is massive ego quite substantially. He seems to regard most of the women in there based on their attractiveness or fuckability. But then I haven't seen mch of Vernon-a-like yet, so I may change my pet-hate later. I don't even mind Shahbaz as much compared to Sezer's posturing at all hours of the day. Doesn't that boy even get cold?

I think with most of the people this year being... exaggerated personalities, we as viewers are invited more to look at the freak show than in previous years. Not sure if this is good or bad, but it makes for some crackingly unreal telly.

I think the sezer thing might be a bit too early to judge. He may take the same arc as anthony did last year, from sleazy through to eventual winner. Craig did the same thing the first year (and got naked asap). He seems like he could be quite sweet.

Just because Antony won last year, doesn't mean he was the best one on there. I never really liked him either, I thought the only reason he won was because people felt sorry for him at the mercy of the Craig and that he was hardly up at the nommos - I don't think Sezer will have that problem this year.

I don't find Sezer quite as hateful as Craig was, but I just find his whole schtick unconvincing, he seems quite insincere and slimy. But then, personal perceptions are what this show is all about, and I guess there are many different reading of the same person (probably as many as there are viewers).

And you seem like the sort of person who'd see the good in a bad case of haemorrhoids. It's an admitrable quality of sorts, I suppose ...

Just watching the recap show now, and Glyn dancing is very similar to Elaine Benes dancing. I am endeared. Lots of boring , excessively preened males this year: Mikey, Sezer. They're already doing press-together and it's boring.

For some reason I'm enjoying Nikki. Maybe it's because I've never encountered somebody so unaware of properly prioritising issues. Plus, she has a pretty funny voice and I like how she pronounces words.

Favourite is Pete, for most of the reasons already outlined and I'm indifferent to the rest. I do wish that they'd stop bullying Shebahz though, but I suppose it would be nice if he stopped inappropriately touching everyone the whole time.

I wish Shabba would shut up. I mean, look, he's made Glyn into a paranoid homophobe. Pay more attention to Richard you foolish lifeguard.

And Glyn was trying his best, with the I FEEL statements...

Well, I remember Mathlete being one of our resident "I'm sorry if I what I said was mysogynistic"-mysogynists. He probably feels kinship.

Shahbaz is just trying to point out you can't catch gay from touching. That's why it's okay for him to touch you and touch you and touch you and touch you. Forever.

hmpf. Does that make an apologetic misogynist? I think I've just got a new user name. w00t w00t!

Leah clearly not familiar with the concept of tempting fate:

"I don't think there's anything you could do that would create conflict within the group..."

Montage gold in future weeks, I suspect, that bit.

For some reason I'm enjoying Nikki [are you? I thought only very wrong Americans "enjoyed people"]. Maybe it's because I've never encountered somebody so unaware of properly prioritising issues.

So you don't know any children, then?

And Shabaz isn't just simply being bullied - he's really annoying, and not just because he doesn't know when to stop mauling people (which, frankly, would be bad enough). That said, I'm not too keen on Mikey and Sle "the misogynist" Zer either.

Spaniel
20:09 / 21.05.06
Actually, thinking about it, it's not that Nikki can't prioritise properly - her headache and refusal to drink tap water were, afterall a very thinly veiled attempt to get her suitcase back - to assert some control over the situation. It's that when she doesn't get what she wants she behaves like a toddler.

Is Leah deaf and blind? HelLO? Nikki? Shahba? Sezer? heLLO?

"I don't think there's anything you could do that would create conflict within the group..."

Maybe the unspoken postscript was, "...because it is sure to tear itself apart nerve from nerve in the very near future".

Boboss, is there anything specific that Mikey has done wrong? He seems to be nothing more than mild-mannered IT professional, albeit one who looks a lot like Vernon Kay.

Spaniel
20:18 / 21.05.06
Well, the fact that he said he hates feminists and that issues like equal pay for women irritate him.

To be fair though, that was all audition tape bumpf.

Spaniel
20:19 / 21.05.06
Oh, and that after talking with him all women will likely come round to his way of thinking.

Regrettable Juvenilia
20:26 / 21.05.06
I seem to remember from previous years that there have been at least a couple of housemates who said terrible things in their audition tapes and then never demonstrated that they held those views in word or deed for the rest of their time in the house - can't remember who though...

I thought only very wrong Americans "enjoyed people"

As a matter of interest, what makes a very wrong American? Let me rephrase for propriety, though: I'm enjoying her on-screen presence-her theatrical performances, as 'baz would put it.

Now that you mention it though, she is a bit like a four year old, isn't she?
