Wow, what a shock plot twist ending! But I think in some ways it was inevitable - in a nice bit of editing, they preceded the Richard/Grace bonding with that bit with Grace & Mikey in Nowhere, in which Grace confirms what we might have suspected, i.e. that she has nothing but contempt for her lieutenants. She might as well have said "get back to your post, Lisa!" It's not surprising that in the end the only person she respects is Richard.
Oh dear. Sam suffers terribly from foot and mouth.
I think it's more than that though - it's a social dynamic familiar from school, whereby someone is 'allowed' to hang around with a group, but their slightly lower social status is indicated by the fact that they can't get away with saying things other, more fully 'insider' members of the group, can. Had Imogen or Grace claimed Nikki wanted a shag, I don't think the reaction would have been the same. |
