Yes, it's a conspiracy. A conspiracy that has a gameplan.

Neither evictee was asked their opinion on the Annunaki. Obviously that's significant.

I voted for Maggot yesterday.

I'd expect Chantelle to win regardless - but evictees are usually asked that specific question, aren't they?

There's lots of reasons why Endemol would prefer a Chantelle win. I doubt she was in a position to cut much of a deal before entering the house.

I hear ya. Chantelle to win via clever editing.

I haven't voted for anyone yet. I'm feeling fairly benign toward both Preston and Chantelle and, weirdly, Barrymore. Don't think I'd actually vote for the latter, though.

Traci and Maggot? Meh. They seem nice enough people, just a bit detached/ineffectual - according to the editing, anyway. There's the 'vote for the the most entertaining character' school of thought and there's 'vote for the nicest/most likeable'. I guess I'm somewhere in the middle: I want to 'reward' those I think have been genuinely pleasant housemates (or, at least, not enormously vile) but I also like them to have played at least some role in the major dramas.

This year, for me, it's been about feeling disappointed or nauseated by people about whom I previously felt vaguely benign. I've always quite liked Pete Burns, and have generally given Galloway the benefit of the doubt. Even Dennis Rodman, based on what little I've known about him (tattoos, penchant for crossdressing, shagged Madonna) seemed more interesting than yer average US sports star.

Of Barrymore, I expected little, so I've hardly been surprised - other than by the times he managed not to be blatantly self-obsessed.

Late to the party, but nonetheless...
The look on George's face as he saw that seemingly infinite barrage of negative headlines was...priceless. And almost unbearable. Much as I loathed the little cretin, I'm with Stoatie; part of me was squirming at George's 'fall'. It was positively Shakespearean. The fact that he then managed to dig himself into an embarassing hole about Rodman just compounded the discomfort. For what it's worth, I thought Davina handled the interview well. She picked him up on a lot of his worst shit, whilst retaining a light enough tone so it didn't descend into ugliness. The ramifications for Georgie boy go way beyond the Heat magazine ooh-ahhing, and it was written all over his face.

i hope that george having worked so hard to place himself so clearly in the minds of so many as the face of antiwar sentiment doesnt see him tearing large chunks of the credibility of that sentiment out as he falls.

he's too easy a target now, and i worry that other british opposition to american hegemonic expansion will be more easily dismissed as a result.

the cock.

its amazing just how out of touch the political firebrand ended up being. a quick tour of the provincial town halls awaits for him now, taking the easy cash of cat-calling students, then sidling off to his portugeuse villa asap. an ignominious, disappointing end to a controversial career.

So was he interviewed by Paxman later?

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

He did a "guest slot" in Davina's interview- not sure what happened later. They're just about to repeat it on E4 so I'll try to quote what Paxo actually said, in case anyone missed it.

I saw the bit during the Davina interview, and it looked like Paxman was challenging George to an interview - I was wondering if he showed up on Newsnight later...

He didn't, unfortunately. They led with George's trouble with the SFO though. And the BBC London news were going big with the disaffection within his constituency.

Not sure... I'll try to find out.

OH GOD THEY'RE SHOWING THE CAT THING AGAIN I DON'T THINK I CAN COPE.

He said "there are a lot of things we'd like to ask you about, but the Big Brother people have told us we're not to tell you what they are until after you've been debriefed", suggesting there WILL be an interview but there wasn't time for one last night.

Smoothly
14:44 / 26.01.06
In his exit interview he did say "That was the last election I'm ever going to stand in. And I lost", didn't he? The Respect Party representative they spoke to seemed to think he was only referring to Big Brother elections, but it didn't sound like that to me.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
14:48 / 26.01.06
He did- I seem to remember he made it clear he was only going to stand the once in Bethnal at the time.

Yeah, best guess is that he was planning on using this as a platform to a Portillo-style career as a media pundit. If so, he may have to have a bit of a rethink.

So, what happens now? I've never seen BB all the way through to completion before. There's 6 of them left, and the final is tomorrow night? Are there more evictions or is it just a 6-way race to win?

you now vote for a winner, rather than an evictee.
that's pretty much it.

you'd be daft to think CBB will kill GG off.

I think its oprobably reivigorated him.

he loves to be hated, after aw.

Tom Paine's Bones

I never thought I'd find myself saying this, but God bless Richard Madeley.

That was a far better interview then the one on eviction night.

In particular, the fact that they actually realised that the important thing isn't the attacks from Galloway's political opponents (who you'd fully expect it of) but the people that were prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt.

The "I liked you at first. I saw you as an elder statesman. But then I went off you. Frankly, I think you let yourself down" was Richard at his fatherly best.

And I was really pleased the issue of Galloway using his debating skills to bully people was brought up.

I'm not sure he loves to be hated by The Common Man (In The Street). And I don't think he likes being ridiculed...

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

Quite. He thrives on being hated by TEH MACHIN3. Once he realises he's now pissed off TEH SH33PLE too, who knows?
Must be terrible thinking you're Jesus, when you finally realise you're actually only Icke.

The more I watch this, the more I start to think Traci is the best person in the world ever. I'm glad it finishes soon, as that CAN'T be right.

By being marginally less repulsive than enough of his fellow housemates.

Is anyone watching "Mischief" on BBC3? Basically, this guy's come up with, and is trying to pitch, a fake reality TV show, wherein a bunch of people get voted out week by week on the basis of attractiveness, then the two remaining couples race to conceive a baby. A surprising amount of people are falling for it- including last summer's BB contestants Craig and Makosi, who both think it would be a great idea to present this show!

Tom Paine's Bones

In a break from the usual eviction debrief protocol - neither Goerge nor Dennis were asked who they wanted to win. Seems likely that both would have endorsed Pete. Do the public really need such endless massaging in order to sell the Kandyfloss dream?

While I hate to spoil a perfectly good conspiracy theory, if BB wanted to make sure Pete didn't win, then George's endorsement would surely be a bonus?

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
23:07 / 26.01.06
Having George roundly endorsing Pete on Big Brother's Big Mouth probably wouldn't help, either.

GG's been hated by more than 'the machine' for years. average punters hate him, for example, for his so-called friendship with Saddam.

Tho I take Ganesh's point about GG not being best pleased with getting the shite ripped out of him.

Tom Paine's Bones

We're talking about Galloway's selfperception though. And I think it's pretty selfevident that he at least sees himself as a "man of the people", whether that's true or not.
