Bigoted? Really?
I'm not even sure what it is people are pissed off about anymore. I thought it was because I am said to think Barbelith is 'sensitive'. It could also be because I'm not that fussed about able-bodied comedians playing people in wheelchairs. Take your pick, but I don't think either of those is bigoted.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do about this at the moment. I'm honestly sorry for derailing the thread, but I'm not sorry for anything I've said to Haus and it would be disingenuous of me to pretend otherwise. I think I'll refrain from posting for a few days, as is recommended in these cases. If anyone wants to discuss this, I'm all ears, but I have no idea what I can do about the fact that Haus' posts rile me so unnecessarily so that I make such a public fuss. Everything he posts towards me feels like a personal attack, almost regardless of its contents. I don't think it's possible for us to interact on anything approaching civility for more than two posts in a row, due to what I see as him baiting me, and what he (probably) sees as me reacting out of proportion to minor barbs. I'm not sure if I (or anyone else) has the patience to work through any sort of 'Why I can't get on with Haus' discussion, and I don't think it's necessary given my status as a background-level poster.
I'm trying quite hard to not make this post a woe-is-me/ban-me-then!11! kinda thing, but it really does boil down to a question of what the community wants. If you (by you, in this paragraph I mean you as Barbelith, or at least the people that wish to post regarding this situation) don't like me, or my posting style, or what I talk about, then tell me. If you don't want me here any more, I'll go, it's a simple as that. I think that if, as Quantum says above, most of you think I'm a prick, then please say so. You talk regularly about the difficulty of getting rid of problem posters, why not just tell me that you don't want me posting here? I'll listen, take it on board and leave without a fuss, if that's what the board wants. |
