True enough, Haus. And, no, going by the number of people who put you on ignore wouldn't be the best way to gauge, necessarily, but if you post something you're already concerned about and overnight sixty ignores come through...
Just wondering what the ratio of real asshole: misunderstanding/bad-step is, I suppose. I just noted in a book review the other day, someone making a connection with 'pathetic' the the character's name, 'Black' and when I had a chance to question them on it, they seemed to really be stunned and confused at the racial connotation. Or the old, it's okeh to make fun of X because they've been made fun of forever, and anyway, there aren't any anymore. Ignorance and assholity aren't necessarily hand in hand, even when they're a bit perpetual. It's assholity when someone keeps it up past multiple warnings/suggestions of 'you're annoying us' and 'you're being a bigoted ass and inflamatory as hell', except when its not. |
