So there are only 3 more episodes left for season 1

Where did you hear that? I had heard that ABC bought a full season.

14:08 / 13.12.04
It was probably on the imdb boards to be honest so it could be utter shite

How many episodes are there in a season then, I thought it was different with each show?

PatrickMM
15:06 / 13.12.04
Nope, here in the States, the standard season run is 22 episodes. There are exceptions, but Lost was picked up for a full season, so we'll be getting 22. I belive that this last episode was 11, so there's a month break or so, then they'll pick up again.

Foust is SO authentic
18:35 / 13.12.04
Also enjoying reading all the theories people are coming up with on the official site and also (my eyes!) Imdb, interesting that someone has noticed that the first class half of the plane is different in the later episode when they find the pilot than it is in the pilot episode the pilot is also different apparently, if that makes sense.

No, it doesn't. Could you please rephrase this in a coherant manner?

Bear
19:22 / 13.12.04
I can try, it was just something I was reading earlier I think what the guy was saying was that -

In the first episode the interior of the craft looks different and the pilot is played by another actor making him believe that it is either important or an oversight by the writers. He was suggesting that maybe when they found the front of the craft and the pilot it was put there for them to find.

I'm still not sure if that makes sense, there are lots of other things people are talking about, why didn't Kate here the scream in the last episode and why did Locke know it was going to rain, is he in tune with the island or has he spotted that it rains at the same time every day?

Not sure about Locke and Kate but the pilot in the first ep was the same person in the next ep.
The guy who got ripped out of the plane by whatever it was that ripped him out of the plane was, if i rememeber correctly, the co-pilot.

Well, they're showing both episodes this Wed. so we can all check.

Solitaire Rose as Tom Servo
17:27 / 20.12.04
In an interview, Paul Dini (one of the writers) said that they know what the monster is, it's not a dinosaur, and that they will have most of the big secrets revealed by the end of the 3rd season if they last that long. This does not mean they won't come up with more, but it does lead me to believe that they have an idea where they are going.

Which is just the opposite of Alias, which seems to be made up on the fly by someone sitting just off-camera, writing furiously.

I'm still loving all the rumours flying around about the show..

This is kinda fun -

Logo

16 dots and 16 major characters (if you count the baby)

Another theory is that it's all related to Walt (the comic has pictures of a polar bear apparently) and children in general (hence the baby not falling into the wrong hands)

Green Lantern
Summary of the Comic

Also the world has been destroyed, it's all a dream...

There's an interesting theory that something happened to all the characters 4 years ago (most of the flashbacks show calanders with the year 2000 or reference 2000 in some other way)

New episode next week then, with a metal briefcase and notes in French but now that supranova is down what am I going to do?? I may have to wait for the DVD and avoid spoilers, that's no fun.

Enough rambling.

Also the world has been destroyed, it's all a dream...

Oh I think something decidedly bad has happened to the rest of the world, that's for sure, but, to quote Lisa Simpson's Band Instructor, "This is no dream!"

I've been enjoying the reruns, and although I haven't noticed any surprising details thanks to hindsight, the thematics are becoming much clearer; choice, destiny, etcetera. Also, I hadn't seen "Confidence Man" so that was a treat. Sawyer not burning the letter almost makes up for Charlie coming back to life.

And as far as lives being connected, there's definitely something going on. Sawyer told Kate that they have a connection and I'm almost positive he's not just referring to the groinal region. One of his scams and/or flams brought him into some kind of antecedent contact with Kate's criminal past.

OH SHIT. I lied about discovering critical details. Locke was paralyzed four years before the plane crash, folks. And Jack's dad is my #1 candidate for the guy responsible.

02:50 / 06.01.05
So does the little plane mean that someone knew Kate was going be in a plane crash and was going to be stranded on the island?

Also the movie/song that the little kid kept playing that Shannon remembered can't be a coincidence, right?

It's looking more and more obvious that these people were meant to be on this island.

Bear
19:04 / 06.01.05
Yeah it's pretty obvious that they're all on the island for a reason all have shady pasts and are looking for some kind of redemption.

Nothing really happens in this show but I keep watching just because I want to know what the hell is going on.

It's also becoming more and more obvious that everyone is connected, epecially if you look at this pic of Boone's flashback (next episode)

Spoiler I guess unless this was on the trailer shown after last night episode?

Next Weeks Show

And there's talk all over the official message board (yeah I know don't laugh) that Boone is gay! Shock! But that's pretty much on the basis of his ring and clothes

gridley
19:22 / 06.01.05
Well, there's a bit more weak evidence for Boone being gay. He said he used to work as a wedding planner. And Shannon refered to Locke (I suspect jokingly) as Boone's "boyfriend."

I thought this episode was the weakest yet. So much of it failed to work for me that I'm almost a little devastated. Kate's backstory gets less and less interesting the more I see of it. I can't imagine why Kate felt she should hide the airplane from Jack or break into a bank to get it (unless it's a magical device that makes people inexplicably survive plane crashes). And it drove me crazy that it took Shannon a day so long to recognize the lyrics and then sings the entire song note-for-note without stumbling through the lyrics at all.

Ah well, at least next week looks good.

Keith, like a scientist
21:16 / 06.01.05
yeah, the theory I like the best is that these people all impacted each other's lives in some way, and this is some sort of cosmic karma destiny thing.

or that they all played some part in ruining some grand arch-villains life, and he muahahahaha planned it so that he would SHOW THEM ALL!

We have another David Fury episode tonight... and hopefully we'll see what's up with Walt and Polar Bears (doubt it though).

Foust is SO authentic

So it appears that Walt had supernatural abilities before he came to the island. Does that mean our theorizing about the island's wish granting powers are inaccurate?

FUCKing inCREDible.

And, maybe I'm crazy, and I know it was blurry as hell, but I'm convinced there was a DC 1,000,000 ad in that comic. SIGNIFICANCE....?

Oh, I think island's still got powers of its own. But bad powers. Not like Walt's simply misunderstood powers. They need only be harnessed. And they will be. Just in time for him to materialize a sunburned penguin in the season finale.

Tear.

Scarlet Walt?

This had BETTER NOT be a battle tween Good and Evil.

Tamayyurt
13:11 / 20.01.05
It is going to be a battle between good and evil... actual that's kinda what Locke told Walt when they were playing that game with the black and white stones.

I don't know about the DC 1,000,000 but I think there's a reason why the polar bear is fighting the Green Lantern... his power is basically making things appear at will... a lot like Walt. There's also a reason Michael is an artist (like Kyle Rayner. So it's important that his mom suddenly died and his adopted father dipped... much like Claire's baby, Michael is supposed to raise Walt.

I don't think the island is evil though. The island is powerful but I think it's more like the gameboard and the humans are the pieces.

Also, I'm still pretty convinced that they can all do what Walt does... we've seen weird things happen to most of them. I think Walt is just more powerful and better at it, probably cause he's younger.

Nice to see Boone is finally over his sister.

About Hurley, I have a feeling he’s a gamer, which is why he said he’s considered something of a warrior back home. He’s been pretty useless as of yet but I think his game-fu is gonna come in handy on the island, but that’s just my speculation.

Any video game influenced asides on Lost might be a bit too The Beach for my taste. Although I would kill to see Hurley rocking some Halo 2 on Xbox Live.

"Double kill! I stuck you, bee-ha!"

His Xbox Live opponent? Boone.

I just watched, bit better than the last few eh and good old (young) Walt and his bird creation powers.

Glad Claire is back hopefully they'll remember who she is "Oh yeah her that went missing a week ago"

So Walt = Walt Disney couldn't really be anything else.

I'm liking the island is a board game deal.

But there is a lot of talk about the Good v's Evil theory going round, Walt being the Good and Ethan wanting the baby to make him Bad Guy/Girl.

What's this DC 1,000 thing all about then?

D Terminator XXXIII
19:35 / 08.02.05
Only on 5th episode - so I don't know if my suspicion is even near: That it's about a devine thang which has transported the various races back into prehistoric time, forming the Cain & Able / black & white team. The backgammon, the black and white dice(?) that the hunky Fox, Matthew, appropriated from the cave, Adam & Eve...

The series came together for me during the final moments of the miracle: the Locke backstory.

Sawyer on Jack man-action. If it's one thing that bends straight men, it's daddy issues.

That's the next episode, also Hurley/Charlie... maybe I'm a secret slash fan.

Anyone have any new theories then? I read that the writers have claimed that everything that's happening can be explained with science so that knocks out supernatural ideas even though many people keep claiming they are ghosts or in Hell.

Locke is good, more Locke is needed - what happened to him when he looked into the eye of the monster, something that makes him know exactly what to say to help people move on...

An interesting theory I heard is that every time someone resolves an issue in their life a piece of the beach vanishes which is why the tide seems strange.

Interesting that in the last episode when they bury the body (which you never see the face of) breathing can obviously be seen, people say it's just a goof although others claim it's more because of the way the scene was filmed (the rising chest is parallel with the horizon) - I still think it's all Walter....

Hurley episode coming up soon, apparently he's a lottery winner?

Apparently you love spoiling things?

Man, if I didn't already know that I'd be peeeeeved. What Hurley's back story is is probably Spec Topic Numero Uno in Lost Sewing Circles.

Anyone else think Sawyer IS Wylie Times? Hurley's back story is that he's The Monster? Too much 100 Bullets reading lately? Yeah, that's what I thought too.

Bear
20:41 / 18.02.05
It's just a rumour he may not well be, not much of a spoiler though is it? Doesn't tell you much about his story apart from the fact that he's rich? I think the main source of this is the fact that his episode is called Numbers and on imdb there's a charcter named Lotto Girl.

Didn't he agree to pay Walt huge amounts for winning at Backgammon - probably being honest.
