Oh, and going back to the pieangles, I can see that none of you knows a thing about pie-baking. Even with a round pie you must cover the edges with tin foil to prevent them being overcooked or burned. No sense in reinventing the wheel for goodness's sake.

While pan frying sausages, how do you cook them evenly when they curl up. I can't balance them on all 4 sides in turn, as it were. Do they make sausage book-ends to facilitate this. Does anyone except me know what I'm talking about? Shit, they're burning!

I have been advised by sausage experts to cook them (good quality sausages) for 45 minutes on a low heat. They should not be pierced before hand. This way lies juicy sausage with sticky, crispy, lovely skin.

Well, sausage update. They came out ok, but not burnt enough. My trouble is that I start cooking when I'm hungry and I put the veg on as well, and then it's all ready too quickly. More planning next time. I'm still intrigued by my sausage bookmark idea. Made of the same stuff they make those blind baking beans from. Ceramic? In the shape of pigs, or something. I think the fumes from my gas heater are affecting me.
