Je m'appelle Gambit: I don't think so... see his chastisation of Dust in NXM 146.... yeah, okay it was a ploy to mess with Xavier, but none the less I don't see Erik going for any "human" notions of faith.

Unless of course the mutant in question is one which was being trained in one of his schools. I still think it's suspicious how Fantomex goes so far out of his way to find Dust...

hmmmm. Just finished ish 153. Nice. Here's hoping Wolverine guts Jean again like he did on the asteroid [ish 149?]. i really hate her for dying on Scott again!

Anyway, some thoughts on dark 'future' Beast - i figure he aint ESN or "that which endures", i reckon he finally cracked under the strain of his urge to experiment on mutants and chose to become an apocalyptic despot to cope. He's borrowed the name "sublime" as this is the closest representation or approximation of what he wishes to become. Suppose we'll find out soon enough.

Anyone else see the parallels between Mag's 'Xorn', and Xavier's 'Onslaught'?

feh. here's to the conclusion of this thing...

Looking back on the whole run and the upcoming Beast revelations (he he...), we can probably say for sure that Cassie, Magneto, John Sublime and Weapon Plus were all being manipulated by/working for this Sublime entity.

1) We know that Mags was working with Weapon Plus. He was the informant. He had nanosentinels. Asteroid M was piggybacking on their headquarters. He then betrayed them, all to start a war.

2) We know that John Sublime and the U-Men was part of Cassandra's plan. They too are connected to WP through nanosentinels and through Cassie's Master Mold.

3) We know that Mags brought Kick to the school, which is probably a product of Sublime Pharma (I mean, are we supposed to believe the evil Pharma company DIDN'T produce the killer drug?).

So we have 4 bad guys all planning with and manipulating each other. Yet none of it is really stated explicitly yet. I feel that NXM will leave behind two camps when it's over, those who put the pieces together and those who didn't and think that those who did are wrong.

Yes, I do realize Soorayah(sp) isnt the only woman to wear a burka...but lets face it, its a comic, not reality. I suppose I was only trying to further entertain the thread with another oddity I thought I found in NXM..I suppose I was wrong....oh well, I still pointed it out. Ill expect my gold star soon

I'm not really sure any of it will be stated explicitly, but I honestly don't mind anymore. If I'm wrong, I'll be happy, but it seems implicit enough as it is.

It doesn't need to say Sublime is Apocalypse. A great deal of other info is really unclear, but from the sound of upcoming storylines in the other X-Men comics a lot of it is being left up to them.

An interview on Newsarama, I believe, says the identity/origin of John Sublime is still a mystery a few months from now.

I had a dream last night that I was reading NXM 154, and that it was illustrated by Frank Quitely, and most of it took place in the present day. I wish I could recall the details, but I very vividly recall a significant scene taking place in the Xavier rose garden involving Emma, Scott, Sublime Beast, and the Phoenix (not Jean).

13:01 / 09.03.04
Ha ha! Dude, I had like the same dream a few months ago. It was when the first Silvestri images were coming out. Quitely drew it, the Beast was white and it took place even further into the future. It was centered around the school (I remember many scenes in the Cafeteria) and a lot of new young students. There was this Mathlete-From-Freaks-And-Geeks type girl fighting the Beast. There was lots of commentating on how the story started 150 years into the future and then jumped to almost a thousand years later.

Fucked up.

Oh, I forgot the most interesting part of the dream - Xorn saved the day.

MFreitas
14:33 / 09.03.04
THAT will become reality. Oh, yes, it will

And concerning Reload's future revelations about John Sublime, don't forget this: JOHN Sublime is not Beast Sublime; JOHN Sublime is poor old Appolyon, lobotomized and dreaming of Phoenix grafts
Oh... and... Flux? Don't forget Dummy...

So, who here thinks they will be able to get their hands on an advance copy of 154 tomorrow?

I am going to hit up my local comic shop tomorrow morning before work. They have been cool in the past and hopefully I will get a glimpse at it.

I'll be in touch....

I'm going to try as well. Hell, they showed me #153 because "I am a regular." Little did the friendly clerk know that I used to work there. Hell yeah you're going to show this to me!

So expect this message tomorrow...

"Nothing is really cleared up. Grant just left it open for other writers like Chuck Austen to explore his ideas. There is no Xorn. There is no En Sabah Nur. It was just a cool, futuristic story."

Kidding.

Well it's nice to know that I am not that strange dreaming about a yet to be released comic book. I had one where I was searching for the final chapter of New X-Men. And I thought I wasnt obsessed.

I'm killing myself here! And yes, I AM obssessed.

No advanced copy eh? Try going to www.popcultureshock.com/comics

AND WE HAVE AN ANSWER!!! SO MUCH IS TIED UP IN THE PREVIEW PAGES ALONE!!!

****spoilers****

Sublime is the alpha gene, the first strand of DNA that eventually begat all forms of life...up until mutants. When mutants appeared, a new primal DNA was created through mutation. The "dominant species" gene (Sublime) was going to eventually be replaced by this new mutation gene.

"And we were the first genome. RNA. DNA. Perfectly-adapted form. The pinnacle of evolution. Self-aware. Immortal. Sublime."

The Beast admits that he had to lock the mutants in perpetual battle so they wouldn't reproduce and evolve.

THEN, Logan tells Phoenix Sublime was behind everything!!! "Your boss has been trying to stop mutants spreading since WE started. He was behind all the U-Men and Super Sentinels and nano-viruses and drugs."

But the odd thing is Beast's comment . "The power is mine alone! One rule! Survival of the..." Hmmm.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA... I was right. Now we just have to see if the Sublime Beast was at some point ESN.

Even if he isn't. It's already implied by the four horsemen analogy and the "Survival of the....NNNAUUURRR!" line. If he doesn't outright say Sublime was inside Poccy, I'm still going with "he was."

(NERDGASAM)

JESUS FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

LISTEN UP: Sublime is the sentient midrocondrial DNA of all that was pre-mutant. It's the dominant force of earth, supremely powerful. Mutants don't contain Sublime, thus Sublime seeks to destroy them. Simple, elegant. Not Apocolypse. Three millon times more interesting than that shithead. Apocolypse was just its Horseman, a means of creating mutant conflict. Sublime is old, the Mutants are new. It's been Old vs New all along. I'm guessing it's infected several key players (Cassie, Mags, You, Me and the President) somehow- persumably through some biological means it's capable of manipulating mutants like Cassie and Mags. It's guided humanity to destroy the X-gene. Think of all life other than mutants as a fictionsuit for the Sublime entity. But as the Cuckoos said, it isn't about Old vs New, it's IN vs OUT... who's going to win this one?

Grant Morrison is a genius. To quote Aphex Twin, "I need a wank to calm down"

The Radiator Tap-Dance Club: Very correct, it would seem... this goes far beyond ESN. This "Sublime" collective existence exists on every lifeform on Earth, since the dawn of the planet's creation...every lifeform save mutants, which has been the one true threat to the Sublime collective's dominance of the planet. Hence, the inborne conflict of mutants with the world from their inception. ESN (and any other "villain" or adversary really) has been essentially propelled by this. Jesus... this revelation doesn't somply connect everything from Morrison's run... it connects every X-Men plot from the beginning! Mammoth...

It's funny, but Xavier was actually wrong about Cassandra. She was not "an agent of nature forcing change into a stalemated system." She was an agent of Nature (Beast) forcing a stalemate into a system before it can change.

Ahh, but then she ends up being the catalyst for the situation Xavier describes anyways....

In versus Out: Intimacy OR Death, or Intimacy AND Death = Telepathy Culture

And he's using Organic Time terminology. Newborn Earth of the pregnant Empress Card, DNA = idiot emperors of the Emperor Card, Cambrian Period = orgy of the Lovers Card

Are these words from the future?

First- This issue absoulutly rocked. Everything is tied up perfectly.I am going to try and give you the best overview of the issue I can, but please bear with me as I read the issue very quickly in the comic shop.

ok, fuck the first five pages-you know where to find them. As Jean confronts Logan it cuts to Cassy and Martha in the X-jet. Cassy calls Martha No Girl atleast once.(later Logan also calls Martha No-girl) Cassy and Martha Shut off the "Crown chakra" portion of Jean's Brain that accesses the Phoenix force. Jean Then returns to normal(i.e. she is no longer flaming) and recognizes Logan. Logan then tells jean that after she died Scott quit and Beast took over the school but "things went wrong" and at some point Beast tried Kick "which was long before any of us knew that Kick was an arousal version of Sublime." He also says that after that the shit hit tha fan.

Okay, I hope this is making sense. Then Super Pheonixy Beast/Sublime shows up and blows up the X-jet killing Cassy and fucking up Marhta/No Girl. Then the big fight commences. Everybody(Beak,E.V.A,Wolvie,Tom) gets a peice of the Beast and all of them except Tom is killed or mortally wounded. During the fight Rover comes back at one point and saves Tom. At some point also the action cuts back to the Institute and we find out that the Cukoos are actually Weapon XIV! The institute Is being over run by the Feeders and the Cukoos decide to self destruct rather than be assimilated. Don't ask me why?

The action cuts back to the fight and beast is spoutting to Jean about his new Geneticly pure future. Jean then commences to "Dissinfect" the Sublime entity from Beast. Henry comes to his senses only then to be decapitated by Appolyon who is revealed to be Fantomex. Then a whole bunch of Acid induced goodness begins. Jean enters the white hot room and is surrounded by countless other people all wearing the Phoenix emblem. She then fixes the"Orpan Universe" by having Scott Kiss Emma and agree to restart the School. Oh, and Quintin Quire shows up in the white hot room as well. Fucking Brilliant I say.

I Know that I have done this issue zero justice with this summary, so if you think that 154 sounds like shit it is most likely because I suck. Also there is a ton of stuff that I am either missing or in no way could explain properly. Lots of really great X-meny moments. Trust me folks. This issue is the shit.

Pleeease... tell me Xorn was in the white hot room also!!!

(that was one of my obssessions... BUT I HAD ANOTHER ONE, right, Flux?)

An aerosol form of Sublime!!! An aerosol is a spray, thus a GAS!!!
And remember which gaseous form I was 'obssessed' with, guys?
Remember when I theorized DUMMY was THE KICK all along?
He wasn't just the Kick; he was SUBLIME in Kick form!

Dummy even wore a cyan/green suit, related to the cyanobacteria (a.k.a. blue-green algae, which was one of the primary life-forces on Earth and so one of the first to be inhabited by Sublime; that algae can be seen in the last panel of page 1, if you look).

I want to know more!!! I want to read!!!

KwendeCentral has read the issue...

Methinks it doth rock.

More in this l8r.

Awright. So I've been right about EVERYTHING. Except the Apollyon = Fantomex thing, which seems so left field and unnecessary... I know a lot of you are going to be excited about that development, but where's the justification for the reinterpretation of Fantomex into the king of demons? Orange Level means constant and competitive self-improvement. Is that why he needs Phoenix grafts?

Was Cassie shown to be Weapon XI? What's the last Cuckoo's name? Daphne?

Why was Martha given the name No-Girl? Was she ALWAYS No-Girl?

Aertho
13:28 / 11.03.04
Emma took Kick! Is THAT why she was killed? She may have, as a telepath, risked Sublime's exposure and hidden motives. She had Sublime in HER then...

hmmmm

Rawk'n'Roll
13:57 / 11.03.04
So I wonder what the connection between JOHN Sublime and "Sublime" is... Just a vessel?
