Cheers all. Not intending on telling the Jobcentre wankstains about it until this meeting thingy. Got a regular signing on before then, which I'll try and spin out so that I can reverse the roles a little by wasting some of their time for a change. "How about jobs a bit further out of town? Hmm. Nothing there. Further out? No, further than that. No, that's too far."

Can't tell them straight away, anyway - useless sods will undoubtedly cut off my Jobseekers' Allowance too early, and I need that for the buying of presents.

Would drag the meeting thingy out, too, but doubt I can manage it. Will probably just tell them as soon as I sit down. "Right then. How do I go about signing off?"

Ooo. Excited again now

Wheee!!

I'm in Beijing for work and I've just been told by my boss that I should take the day off and go to see the great wall - so I'm off in half an hour. How amazing. And yesterday I got time to go into town and see Tianenmen Square and the Forbidden City. And I'm getting paid for this! Happy happy.

And then I got to go into one about "why are you so disappointed? You should be congratulating me... unless you never actually cared about me getting a job and just enjoyed fucking me around... and that surely can't be true... can it?"

You actually did that? Gives me a happy just thinking about it.

Well done, Randy, on your new job, and well done, Ari, on the state of your current one.

I didn't use those words exactly, but that was pretty much my meaning. It was a long time ago now...

That hat is certainly something to be happy about.

Who is the mighty dude in the grey/blue outfit behind you?

I got into a CELTA course in Mexico!

I now get to miss a month of awful winter and hang around Playa del Carmen until February learning how to teach English!

AND I get to take the bus back! 96 hours from the Yucatan to Canada! I'll make a few stop-overs along the way, but.. Woo!

AND when I get back I may go to Korea!! Double woo!

My friend had a sweet had like that too. I envied him for months, and it almost destroyed our relationship.

But the hat was cool, so it was worth it.

When Genghis Khan realises you've got his hat, Triplets, he's going to be mightily pissed off. I hope you pinched his scimitar too.

Olulabelle

Actually, I believe that the main weapon of the Mongols was a bow and arrow, which makes me think that the hat flaps are likely to have been somewhat in the way.

You know too much Olulabelle. But on the subject of tartars subduing one...

Actually, we didn't really talk at all. Viktor's more of a physical being.

I know that Sky are part of the evil empire and that by having a Sky box in the house I'm kissing Murdoch's cloven cock, but they sent me a packet of Love Hearts.

And Matthew Kelly is playing an Italian with a big beard in episodes three and four of Egypt, which I've only got round to watching now. I can see him playing a ministry of magic type in a Harry Potter film.

I am happy because from today gay couples in the UK can enter legal civil partnerships. Huzzah!

Me too!

And what joy to awaken this morning to hear some right wing old trout having a fit of apoplexy about it on Radio 4.

Must buy a new kilt.

Whereas I'm pissed off about it* because I've had a straight friend staying on my floor for four nights haranguing me about how Tangent and I HAVE to get civilly partnered because otherwise I will be HIT BY A BUS and go into a coma and my parents (who love Tangent) will somehow be able to throw her out of the house which is, er, rented in her name and which they have nothing to do with. Lurid scenarios involving my death are not very cheering.

(Also she decided she had to spend a long time convincing me that I'm not a bad person because I don't want to BREED. Er, I know that, actually. You know, there used to be a time when being a lesbian meant you DIDN'T GET LECTURED ABOUT HAVING TO MARRY AND HAVE BABIES!!)

*Not really. Really in general I think it is a hugely good thing and I am very pleased and happy about it. Just at this PRECISE moment in MY OWN life it is causing me annoyance, which is of course not even a statistical blip on the horizon of the general goodness. Also, I am now destroying my own happy thread, so I will go away.

Nothing is giving me a happy today, except E Randy's new job and Stoatie's harangue of the Jobmeisters.

Why? Were they all sleeping on Deva's floor then?

People who come to my house and lecture are not invited back. I have trained the killer Attack Cats to deal with them whilst they sleep.

1. Partnership rara (caveats about it not being anywhere near equal/a satifactory finished product, but still a huge fucking step along the way)

2. Seth's posts in the Melt Banana thread. Beautiful.

Indeed.

What are the stats on unpartnered gaysexuals and automobile accidents, anyway?

and what do us hettiesexual folk do who've been boycotting marriage as hetero privilege? As from today is marrige now OK, do we do the civil partnership dance or what???? Confused?

Also I am happy 'cos I've spent the morning taming the monstrous thesis beast and Gloria the very old cat who had a stroke and spent 3 nights in cat hospital last week can now speak and jump onto things again (after much squeeking, wobbling and falling).

It seems like such a slight thing to be happy about but the drag karaoke show at my local dive.
V. good music: Miss Kitten, Rufus Wainwright, Kelly Clarkson, Soft Cell.
I'm very drunk now but at the time (I think) it gave me a happy.

Withiel- that was giving me a happy too, and I'm not sure it should. I'm consoling myself with the thought that it's my tendency towards feeling guilty about being quite so gleeful about it that makes me so different from the evil old hag.

"Mr Cameron said on Wednesday: "I was sorry to hear that Lady Thatcher is unwell. I wish her a full and speedy recovery.""

Does that strike anyone else as... sinister?

Depends.

Did he perform any of the following actions at the time.

Wringing hands
Wear black leather gloves
Hide a bottle of poison in a book
Stroke a cat
Stand on the 105th floor of his ivory tower surveying his domain
Soundly thrash a gimp-suited Michael Howard with a paddle whilst being fellated by Ruth Kelly dressed as the Caramel Bunny.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

No, Seldom, he did none of those things. And that's what makes it so... sinister.

Hang on, this is the happy thread, innit? Right, I'm happy because I shaved off my stupid hair a couple of nights ago and I Feel Fine. It no longer feels like I'm sitting under a fluffy bathroom mat.

Knackered from 3 meetings this week on various LGBT community isshooos. But happy-given because I feel like I'm doing some really productive work that I can see the short and long term, reasearch, activist and community-benefiting value of.

I think, as Deva was trying to say, you are what I believe the young people call TEH r0xxor.

All my friends are doing cool stuff, and they're all finally getting the rewards. The only thing in the world that's better than watching a good gig is seeing your friends having fun. When both can happen at the same time, I'm happy.

awww, thanks guys. *blushes handsomely*

On Sunday, I got to go *inside* The Palace of Glittering Delights. Oh yes. As a longtime Mark and Lard geek, this gives me an enormous happy. This after a fab day and night of BiFesting/catching up with people, many of whom I see too rarely.

(And we were there to do some blethering about things bisexual on local radio. I am BiKing. Here me roar. )
