If Mordant's post in the possible future thread is anything to go by, it looks like I'll not be welcome on the new board anytime soon.

Blake Head, I really hope you're kidding. Otherwise I will have to explain yet again that:

1. I hav 0 to do with the admissions procedure for the new board, and indeed do not expect to participate much in same for the foreseeable (which you weren't to know); and

2. If someone were to come to me and say "I have constructed a magical system for myself based around this box of lead minatures" and could offer even anecdotal evidence that this system was fit for purpose, ie they had actually done stuff with it and got useful results, as opposed to announcing their fabulous new system and then kicking the minatures all over the floor when asked to provide said anecdotal evidence, I and any other reasonable person would respond "Good-oh, thanks for sharing that," the bone of contention being not the creation of magical systems from scratch but the pulling of untested systems out of one's ear and expecting to get cudos for same (which I would rather hope you did know, given that I've made 57 million variants of the same point over the last few years and was rather hoping not to have to make it again).

Of course I was kidding. I just thought your post in general was amusing and that comment in particular scarily plausible. I wasn’t really making any assumptions about how I’d personally find the LN board or your participation (or otherwise) in the joining process – for what it’s worth I have similar sentiments to the ones made by Boboss a bit further up the page in that thread: I’ll be interested in taking a look once it’s visible, and without saying I’ll be wishing everyone involved all the best with it, but I’m not really sure I have anything to contribute personally, and having some respect for the expected level of discourse and the seriousness with which other people are taking the new board and their own practice I thought I’d blunder into this thread with my saddo-gamer self-deprecation rather than traipse my boots through the one where people are actually discussing stuff.

Apologies that you felt prompted to yet another explanation. I guess I’m just one of those socially awkward people trying to “join in” and “be one of the gang”. And failing. I’ll leave now. Awkwardly.

I think it's possible that the white male, irrationally fearing his own extinction as he does, overidentifies with dinosaurs and obsesses about the cause of their demise.
At the same time, the vegetarian in me wonders whether in fact it is humanity's guilt about murdering and eating our furry friends that leads us to obsess about the demise of the dragon. Still, this ties in with my original proposition in that, if we amplified the voices of irrational women, we might believe fairy stories and realise that people and dinosaurs did in fact co-exist and that people ate all the dinosaurs, that is how they died out. I base this on the fact that I hang out with a lot of female separatists and have noticed that a high proportion of them are vegetarian.

It's sort of beautiful, in a way, isn't it? A flawless gem of pure mentalism.
