Thanks for starting the first thread by the way. I was getting ready to go to bed (I work graveyard here on the west coast) when I saw it. At first I thought it was B.S. or it would have been a small plane or something...Flyboys pic and the post after it made me turn on the TV and call around to make sure all my friends and family are OK.

The ferries here are now restricted to pedestrians and bicycles. Sounds like most of Seattle is shut down which isn't much of a suprise since they closed everything for the Millenium (when nothing even happened).

Anyway, I've lit a candle and you're all in my thoughts.

On whatever news station I was watching, some US official guy (look, I can't be arsed to pay attention to names and titles, okay? :P ) when asked if this seems to render conventional security like metal detectors and the like ineffective, said that this was going to "change all of our lifestyles for a long time". See, at the time I posted the first thread, that's what I thought too. It looked like a small plane, and the freakin' IT guys were even joking about it. I sat back down, typed the thread up, and then the building shook. I went back over to the window that faces the trade center, and people who were watching told me about the second plane. We all took the elevator down after that ( we're on the 31st floor). I got on the train home right after I got to the floor.

I think the flying ban is being lifted for small aircraft flying casualties to hospitals in Bklyn, Queens & jersey...There's a shitload of plane action near me. Also ferries are helping move people to hospitals out of the city.
