RFR, that's 200 wood and 300 iron headed your way. If you have any grain going spare, that'd be great. If not, then merry christmas.

A quick look at the market shows LEN shopping around for wheat (presumably to feed his soldiers). He's also changed alliances, Perhaps the BBC alliance should read At War with Len?

Anyway, a handful of Legionaries are on their way to reinforce Triplets III. Let me know if you'll need some wheat sent along to feed these hungry soldiers, the X-mas cease-fire is still in effect so there's time to prep for another one of Len's outbursts.

Well, this holiday I found out that it's difficult but possible to play Travian using Internet Explorer 5.0. Maybe my mom needs a new computer for Christmas next year. At least I managed to get all my upgrades done in time to avoid going over the resource capacity!

Celery, I might be ignorant but who are you on Travian?
suedejesus seems to be the one.

Since Barbelith is a publicly accessible forum and is also described on the alliance page, there's a possibility that enemies might be able to garner sensitive information from this thread (although judging from the official forums, figuring that out may be a bit much for the average Travian player). It does seem like the alliance has a "forum" section that could be good for secure communication, but I think the founder may need to set it up.

Triplets, you have a 15 crop village next to you that Len has 'claimed', it would be great if you occupied it- fancy building a residence? It also protects you from attack, and it makes you sexy too.

if it comes down to it, I'm happy to move my settlers over to near tripletown (too lazy to actually look up what it is) to block him (once they're done!). Once you've got one village, I'm not sure what the prerequisites are for a second one, though, and I'd prefer to have the closer one, for inter-village grain transfer purposes.

Actually, it might be entertaining to let Len build there and ruthlessly farm him every hour or so for a month.

I do like being sexy. Don't I need settlers to occupy a new square? I'm a long way off from building a palace or residence de resistance.

Long term plans my friend, long term.

NEWS- after a lengthy diplomatic exchange I am agreeing a NAP with len's new alliance CFS4, so our attacking him is off for the moment- we're not ready for a big war. Feel free to occupy his oasis anytime though, he's still on the hit list, just hiding behind someone bigger. Zuluwarrior & H is still fair game.

We need more allies! Invite good players, any friendly local alliances you've encountered should ally with us, if we get into the top 50 alliances then suddenly the bigger kids will NAP with us (according to STA and GNS) and rumour has it the Lords might be disbanding so we can attack them. Invite people to the party! I will extend the embassy!

Unless Zuluwarrior starts making advances again, I think we should avoid starting anything with them. If I recall correctly he got very little from the last round of attacks (besides a retaliation from Quantum), and may move on to easier targets. In general it's going to be much more beneficial for us to focus on unaligned, inactive, or semi-active players. I can see from the alliance reports that a number of us are going on the offensive using this technique, and it can pay off quickly!

At this stage of the game, villages that aren't being played much will build up way more resources than active ones. Also, since troops are fairly limited compared to resource production we're better off not losing them. I'd highly recommend that everyone try to develop your spy unit (pathfinder, scout, or equites legati) - they let you check people out and can also prevent others from spying on you. They're easier for Teutons to research, but that means that most Romans or Gauls under pop 100 or so probably won't have them.

My current plan is to get all my resources up to around 100 (except maybe wheat, that might take a while), knock up a mill, upgrade my metalworking places and then start building an army.

What I do with that army largely depends on what H does between now and then.

I've just had 10 or so people sign up to the game, and I think they're all in the SW. I'll get their in-game names and let you know, Quants, what's going on with that.

how much alliance space do we have?

Quantum
09:31 / 28.12.07
3 or 4 spaces I think, and a few waiting to build embassies and accept. First come first served at the moment unless people want to send me embassy building resources, I've got it to level 9 but now it's 1660 | 1200 | 1385 | 740 | to upgrade, it might be time to start either charging or trimming the inactive alliance members from the list (metrotramp & axolotl haven't been on for about a week, red dot! It is Christmas though)
I just invited a person named Crowley to join, how can we fail with him onside? Now to fight past the apps process to get them onto Barbelith to discuss magic and quantum physics...

mm. Things do get expensive.
Speaking of expensive, next level of residence is 3265 | 2590 | 1970 | 1015. Any donations gratefully accepted, etc.

I'll let you know if any of the people I've brought in get embassies built.

Each level of embassy gives you 3 spaces, so the next 3 people will cost me about 1700 resources each- they'd better be good! Thanks Mice, all donations appreciated.

To answer a question not directed at me: it has advantages and disadvantages. The obvious benefit is it's a lot cheaper to make several small embassies than one big one, and having "wings" of an alliance is very common (the big guys have at least one per map quadrant). In terms of the rules, as long as all the alliances list each other as allies, it's considered the same as being one large group.

The major drawback is that alliances are ranked based on total population of the members, and the bigger ones tend to be more intimidating and have more leverage in negotiations. You also can't see attack reports and news from the other alliances, but since we have an outside forum that's not too big of an issue.

I've got our new people added to the map, seems like we have a pretty good distribution so far.

I just got a request for some assistance from an in-game ally CLAN TUKO. It could just be a skirmish or it might be more, Teuton can be so . . . excitable. Apparently Angband (-53|-56) of Alliance: TPB-SW has sent a raiding party which will arrive at 01:29:18 am server time.

I got the same message. I'll try to get a couple of defensive units to him, although it's probably too late.

Quantum
10:13 / 29.12.07
It's never too late- I've sent 30+ phalanxes as reinforcements and am building attack troops but it's slow as I had to build the embassy to level 10. Anyone who can attack Angband please do!
On the smaller alliances thing, it's difficult to coordinate a network and you end up attacking allies someone else has made by accident. I think It's time BBC had a wing though, maybe?
We've been offered wingship by about five big alliances now but I've been politely telling them we're too proud and individual to be a wing and offering alliances instead.

I've sent an attack at Angband (into the mines of Moria!) to keep him busy. Remember Len? check out this exchange just now, read from the bottom up-

Well, nice of Len to let us know that we should wipe him out at the first opportunity. Not the best plan in my opinion, but it's his call.

If we do establish wings we can change our name to BBC1, and then there's BBC2, BBC3, and BBC4 ready to go.

The people who I joined up are going to start their own alliance, which will probably be easier as they're none of them members here (that I know of) and they have their own forum to communicate with. But I think that being a wing would be good for them/us also.

yes/no? I'm not sure what their alliance will be called yet, since it doesn't exist.

Right< Dragon Woot has kept on using me as a farm - I wrote once, he agreed not to attack, t˙´n hit me again, sending a message that he needed to build up his troops, so I agreed to send him some wood, and he agreed to reimburse me - then I go to travian this morning, and another couple of attacks - anyone got troops they'd like to unleash? His co-ordinates will be in the alliance attacks page.

Have a word with the leader of his alliance first, as attacking other alliances and continuing farming if the target asks them to stop is against their rules.

We're both around the same size and a war would do neither of us any good, and there are lots of unalaigned villages around you, so they have every reason to give it a rest really.

madfigs #32, now with wasabi
15:56 / 30.12.07
Well, I've kinda already landed an attack so it's a bit late for that. Whoops. Anyway it didn't go so well - he had some big defensive troops held in reserve, I managed to swipe some resources but not nearly enough to make up for losses. Not the greatest move, but he's down to just a few defenders and still has plenty of resources left if anyone else wants to send troops.

jentacular dreams

Hmm. In that case maybe Benny should start raiding the villages around him to make up his losses.

Maybe hold off for now. I think they'll forgive an isolated raid given dragon's behaviour, but I've just noticed that they're a wing of a much larger alliance with whom we don't want to start a war...
