How many troops did Len attack you with?

Martyre has apologised and offered to return the resources to you Triplets, and their leader is asking for a ceasefire and has promised Len won't attack anyone any more.

Len should have known better than to attack a member of a stronger alliance but I must disagree that his actions have made my alliance 'prime farming targets'

My alliance are aware of the benefit of cranarys and if you insist on maintaining a state of war against {AO} I will continue to promote the use of them. At this point in the game, assuming you are an experienced player, you will realise that there is nothing you can do to counter their effects which makes your declaration of war and any attacks on {AO} members pointless.

What I propose is {AO} returns what resources they can to Triplets. Upon receipt of those resources you then cancel your declaration of war against {AO}

Then as a further proposition we form an NAP between our alliances.

Looking forward to your response,

Kane.

Not true. We can kill all your troops and thus prevent you raiding anyone, and develop a workshop or two then catapult your crannies into rubble and farm you until you quit.
I'm not saying we will, just pointing out there are plenty of benefits to destroying your alliance's armies beyond resource stealing.
Anyway, speak to Len and see what he says, if I hear back from you I will talk to my alliance and see if they want to stop attacking.
I suggest booting Len out of your alliance, that would stop the war straight away.

If you don't believe me go and attack me just now.

Send your entire army. You will manage to steal no resources and kill no troops. Anyone with any experience of this game would realise that Romans should focus on upgrading before troop building. As is what the large majority of my alliance are doing.

I don't dispute that you will develop catapults. But as of now you haven't. You just made it clear that you haven't got any.

If I told you 'Don't attack me, because I'm going to build really strong alliances and then they'll be after you' You wouldn't listen to that. Future threats don't work.

I have contacted Len. He will not message or attack any BBC player. If I kick him out he will realise it's to do with his recent actions concerning BBC and will no doubt continue to farm Triplets as an act of revenge. So It benefits neither of us to do that.

Can I point out that Len would have no need to farm Triplets if that player properly protected themselves. Perhaps you should focus on that before declaring war on other alliances.

I hope this can be resolved diplomatically.

Kane.

Hmm. I've no problem with messaging, but can you get the same assurance of ceasefire from Martyre3 as well? I will talk to my alliance and see if they want to declare peace, and let you know what they say tomorrow.

My understanding is that Teutons can actually pry more resources from Crannies than can Gauls or Romans. Sooooo if this continues the BBC could funnel resources into any Teutonic members for generating forces as a stop gap until siege weapons are built. There will be an X-mas cease-fire shortly so that may be a suitable time for a N.A.P. or further build-up of arms.

This is all very exciting. At his peak Len was attacking me with 33 dudes, and Matyre33 with around 4/5.

Hah. The Darque worms are mewling at you, Quantum! Will we pluck from between our boot-grips? Will we send them back to their mud?

Down south there's not much competition as of yet, but APOLLO could be a good alliance to form either and alliance or NAP with as they're fairly benign and well-connected, whilst being the only decent-sized rivals in my area.

I think an NAP would be a good idea. It doesn't sound like they have any plans of continuing their retaliation, and while we can certainly focus on making their lives difficult it'd be more constructive to spend the time farming local inactives instead. We'd be accomplishing the original goal of stopping their attacks and possibly even getting Triplets some restitution for the trouble.

Quantum - More resources on their way.

Can you invite me to BBC?

Would it be pessimistic and wrong to accept the inevitability of a brutal upsurge in raiding/farming tomorrow at around 11:00 GMT, as people get in as many resource raids as they can pre-ceasefire?

Quantum
08:02 / 23.12.07
Bluebull has been invited- sorry I thought I already had.
Len has 31 Legionnaires a friendly scout informs me.

So I was thinking- I will call off the official war, and just attack Len, until he provides restitution to Triplets. What do you all think?

I also notice Zuluwarrior from the alliance H is farming bearonwheels, and is a lot closer- shall we go for them instead?

Cool, keep it up everyone! I've called off the war with AO but Len is still fair game, anyone feel free to send troops to attack him- I'm going to attack him overnight for a few days to keep my army busy in the wee hours.

Quantum

...and in the meantime harass the zulu. Who's with me?! They're rubbish defenders those Teutons, don't let them get you first, let's stick up for bear on wheels!

They are rubbish defenders as I've found out. As soon as I've got an army up and running I'll happily lend troops to anyone who fancies going on the offensive.

Troops can only launch an attack from their home village, so reinforcements are for defensive purposes only.

I notice there's a Ned Slade village at -35 -57, wouldn't you figure pretty good odds that it's someone from Barbelith?

Len to attack my village in about 19 minutes.

Aha, it's just "a visit", no attacking or pillaging done. It's such a comfort to have 37 of his dudes visiting my village regularly over Christmas. Festive, innit.

Legionaries will be paying you an X-mas visit as well...

Thanks to Madfigs generosity and general kindliness, I now have Praetorians! Who are, apparently, very good defenders. I have five currently, and am willing to loan them out to any as need them and can put them up for food costs.

19:33 / 25.12.07
I'm sending a couple of defensive troops your way as well, Thrillplets. They're not much, but if this bloke's 'visits' turn less friendly at days end you might as well have a couple of Gauls around to buffer.

Also, someone from my neighborhood let me know that someone who's been harassing him has sent troops to "reinforce" him and drain his wheat supply. He's sent them home, but it seems likely that either of these people might become a bother later. I'll keep an eye out, but at this moment there's not much I can do.

Triplets
21:25 / 25.12.07
Dude, it's more than enough. I'm building sword-wielding dudes and doing some brickwork around my village. To be honest I don't want to be BBC's charity case!

ORA ORA ORA ORAAAA!!
21:28 / 25.12.07
Because I won't have the culture points to create a new village for about a week, I've decided to put residence building on hold for a while (I've got a level 7 one, it's expensive to upgrade!) and churn out a bunch of troops and up my wheat production. I'm building a blacksmith to 3 as we speak, and plan to get me some scouts going on.

Does anyone have any spare iron? Blacksmiths use a lot of it, for some reason. I've got a bit spare of anything else if you need it.

Sending 200 iron now. If you could send me wood in return that'd be great.

Zuluwarrior has just reinforced me with troops. If anyone wants to feed their troops for free for the next few days, please send them to him (I presume you can call your troops back whenever you like)?
