she singlehandedly orchestrated the downfall of the House of Goody, didn't she. must be a right bitch.

i really don't understand the British public sometimes.

One wonders about the Stormfront/BNP style element...

'Magnanimity'.

That really annoyed me, actually. If there's one thing (aside from the casual, mindless, racism) which annoys me about this culture, it's the constant pretension of stupidity - like, if you know what 'magnanimity' means, people will hate you because you're a swot.

Let's face it, as a culture, we haven't really got out of the fifth form, yet, have we?

Big Brother turned out quite life-affirming, in the end! A happy result.

see, the morons are cheering Shilpa now that she tried to exonerate Jade.

And, frankly, something of a relief.

that didn't read quite right. what i meant was that they might finally have been persuaded that she's a decent sort of a person, after all.

I hate Snow Patrol, you know.

Looks as if the haters have shut up at this point, anyway.

Night, John Boy.

"And a nation starts to ease its conscience."

Russell B may be right. Shilpa's win certainly helps...

Anyone know where I can find some Ewoks? Those furry muthafuckas totally throw the best victory parties...

Some kindly adult needs to take Jack home.

Take him out, more like.

With a Desert Eagle, for preference.

He was the first one that didn't get the management briefing en route to the studio, I think. Which implies that they trust his emotional intelligence and his ability to react appropriately to what's presented to him.

I don't think any of them are getting briefed, you know. I orginally thought that Jade might have been, but evidence since all seems to fly in the face of that idea.
Have I missed any compelling evidence that PRs or 'management' are briefing them between eviction and interview?

Ganesh
20:50 / 28.01.07
He's terribly bewildered, and probably needs his pants changed. Russell Brand was quite funny on Jack reading his cue cards:

"Don't do that, Jack. You'll break your brain."

Have I missed any compelling evidence that PRs or 'management' are briefing them between eviction and interview?

I don't think any sort of extensive briefing is possible but, with the very slight gap in the Jack/Danielle walk to the interview, I wondered whether they might be being advised, "don't be arrogant" or something. Maybe not. With Danielle, I got the impression there'd been a certain degree of practising key answers ("what have you learned about yourself") in the Diary Room, or at least asking her the questions several times in advance, so she had something semi-prepared.

Smoothly
21:06 / 28.01.07
Yeah, I can believe that. And personally I think they probably should have had some proper, balls-out advice before stumbling into an interview of that importance, but I don't think they did.

Sorry, I'm playing catch-up a bit here, but does anyone know why Jo was completely excised from the montage tonight? Is there some legal action?

Olulabelle
21:11 / 28.01.07
Because she's a hateful, hideous person who hasn't even got the excuse of being stupid?

The Falcon
21:16 / 28.01.07
I think she is pretty stupid, really. And miserable.

Ganesh

I'm guessing so. She seems not only utterly unrepentant but is apparently claiming that Davina gave her a harder time than Jade, in her exit interview.

Jo, Jade, Jackieyeyeyeyey and Danielle all absent from CBBBM.

Olulabelle
21:25 / 28.01.07
She may say she's unrepentant but did you see the state of her fingernails in the front page Mirror photo today? She's certainly fretting about something.

Career prospects? Public reaction? Nicotine withdrawal?

Olulabelle
21:51 / 28.01.07
Well yes, exactly. I think if you care about the public reaction you have to be a little bit repentant surely? I really can't believe anyone could say what she did and not secretly realise that it was completely unacceptable.

What Jo does or doesn't secretly realise is something of a moot point given that, in terms of all statements given since leaving the House, she's been explicitly Je ne regrette rien.

Ganesh
22:03 / 28.01.07
By way of analogy, I could rob a bank and be caught on security camera. I'd then worry myself sick about the possible consequences for myself and my future. Would I be repentant? Not necessarily.

Regretful, probably, but not repentant, as such. One might regret what one has done, but it's perfectly possible to regret something without repenting of it. If I am caught while committing a robbery, I may well regret that I undertook to perform that robbery, but that regret can be purely pragmatic rather than moral.

It's worth remembering that Jo, Jade and Danielle will all have received media training, to a greater or lesser extent - their entire careers are basically founded on getting in front of cameras. Admittedly, training can only take you so far...
