You can most certainly bargain with someone, and/or shop around. I think that AT&T and T-Mobile are on GSM networks, so the phones can be used outside the states, which may be relevant if you're leaving the country. If it doesn't matter, and you live in an urban area, they are mostly the same, (well, except Sprint service blows, and AT&T is only slightly better). I don't know if it's still the same but there may be a delay in porting your number over to another provider, which could cramp your style.
Consumer Reports has a link to this service for comparing plans, which may be worth checking. But if you only need a phone and not a new plan, and can wait a few days, you would probably get the best deal shopping for it online, just make sure it's compatible. |
