Let's be honest here. Based solely on what we actually see and hear, the next panel could have just as easily been "check out my new Superman T-shirt". He did nothing that would reveal his ID to a casual observor

He did take off his glasses and shift from schlubby Kent posture to his heroic demigod stance, though. I'm fine with thinking he just checked to make sure nobody was watching.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy

There is also the implication that, with the threat of terminal illness, he might simply not care as much about his secret identity anymore.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

Mario- I thought that too, but the implication from the dropped groceries is that Lois gets what he's trying to say re: being Supes- she doesn't strike me as the type to freak out to that extent over seeing a bad fashion choice.

Mario

Oh, sure. But she's there, and probably heard a change in voice as well. Someone just walking down the street or driving by wouldn't get the same impact.

God. She hears the change in tone. Hell, I did. Read the opposite page: Clark is all pauses and hesistation, but also a cute little flirtiness "umm, Lois... er... did... do you ever think...". Then Superman just comes out with "LOIS". You can practically feel the outline of his word balloon thickening. It's all there on her face as she looks round.

FQ has a thing for those little blobs on costumes doesn't he? Earth 2 was full of them.

I have never confessed this on account of fear of being COMPLETETLY laid off, but... FQ's art reminds me damn much of Milo Manara's. I wanted to invent some new word to describe his work.

Quitely and Manara both seem to favor empty space. This was Byrne's complaint, I believe, and the reverse of his complaint about Cockrum. I find it a rather intriguing method, simply because I'm not very good at it and feel a neurotic need to fill the image with as many little lines as possible, excising them in retrospect.
Quitely said something, somewhere and somewhat recently, about using his eraser-end more than the marking end of a pencil, didn't he?
Lovely image, too.
Who else could draw it without it looking horrible, though?
And the little blob/baubles... Quitely or Morrison? Morrison does character sketches and such, and this and 'Earth 2' involved both. Any other instances for either? Aside from the NXM they did together, as well.

It's such a Silver Age by way of 2005 cover...soon there'll be a cover of Jimmy Olsen getting wacko superpowers or shapeshifting or something crazy like that. Delightful!

Yes, but they should include word baloons in the covers for a more silver age effect.

Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against those blobs, it's such a unique design asthetic these days, coupled with such brilliant colors it's a joy. I just find it facinating, I think I recall those elements poping up in Invisibles V3#1 as well as his 2020 visions... but I could certainly be mistaken.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
17:49 / 13.12.05
Wow. Love that cover; I love the hint of a yellow triangle with the circular S-amulet. Brilliant redesign. Any question about me still picking up this series is flushed.

When's #2 out?

And, yes, Jimmy Olsen better get some powers. Preferrably elastic ones.

What a fantastic cover. That's my favorite Lois Lane picture ever, and I just noticed something else really cool about the cover; It looks like the daily planet is growing green in the background. Man I wish these came out faster.

Everyone wants these to come out faster. Hence, perhaps, the title of the first issue? What's the longest successive run on a full-length pamphlet-style comic that Quitely's done?

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy

Okay. Thought.

Lois as Superwoman: Miraclewoman. The lower body as far as costuming goes, I seem the recall Miraclewoman having those waist-blobs as well. Lois will be cooler, of course, Jane Russell to Miraclewoman's Marilyn Monroe.

Well, Lois here does look like a reconfigured Superwoman

Exatacty. The "Lois becomes Ultrawoman" episode was one of my fave bits from Lois & Clark. Think I might love this one.

Gog Metallo tackling super-feminism?

Will Clark lose his powers for the duration? Hope not. Want Gog to show women can be strong without men bein' not-strong.

Also, if this is supposed to be silver-age-esque, Morrison should bring back the Bastard Superman

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy

Nonexistant Man: That dindn't happen every other week in the Silver Age? [Re: Elastic Olsen]

Well, yes, but that's the point. Similarly, Lois turned into Superwoman slash Ultrawoman slash Power Girl (she did!) every other week. Part of All-Star Superman is the straight-out homaging.

I think Morrison takes the same angle as Marshall Mcluhan, on Supes: He can be an incredible asshole and nobody could stop him. But he doesn't have to be.
