yeah I dig the GarbageGnome ficsuit name!

I'm a pretty reasonable person and I just love thinking

Get thine ass over to Head Shop and test out just how well behaved we actually are.
Don't be afraid of Haus over there, he's like one of the great masters that shakes you up to set you on the Path.

*Takes deep breath*...Hello, I've been lurking for a couple of years now and decided to finally take the plunge and join. I've been wracked with nerves over my first post so I'll keep it short and sweet and say I'm looking forward to interacting with you guys as this place is a constant source of entertainment and knowledge for me. I love books/comics, writing, movies and exercising. I eat/talk/drink more than is good for me (and others.)
Thanks for having me!

Wait - are you offering all of us a banana?

Might be a mistype for the Latin "Hail, Banana!"

S'funny. A friend just told me to "Ava Banana" earlier on today.

GarbageGnome
16:55 / 16.08.07
By "comic series" I meant "The Invisibles." The name has nothing to do with the comic, or any comic actually. It really came about when my brother and I put a yard gnome ontop of a trash can when it wouldn't fit in. He looked like he was lording over a kingdom of garbage.

Hence the name was born, its been my handle for everything from forums, to Counter Strike lol.

HQ, it was more a friendly suggestion than an offer but I'd be happy to try and mail one to you as an experiment if you'd like. Actually it's just something Tyres from Spaced says that makes me laugh. Also I love the name Ava. God, I've ruined all my mystique now haven't I?

Feverfew

Well, you could have gone for "Oi oi! You lucky people" but I think you've gone for the more succinct option.

Welcome, new people!

The Invisibles, you say.

To be brutally dishonest I was being a little disingenuous in my last post in that I rather suspected you were referring to the Invisibles. For future reference - and sorry if this sounds all heavy - it's probably best to assume that people around here won't know what you mean when you refer to "The Comic".

Barbelith ceased to be heavily Invisibles orientated a long, long time ago, and people kind of want it that way. That said, GM has many fans on this board, as does the work itself.

Actually it's just something Tyres from Spaced says that makes me laugh.

I was really hoping this was a Tyres reference!

By the way, you owe me twenty quid.

Intrigued by that ficsuit name, I dug this up from the internet:

"Plug was a British comic that ran for 76 issues from 24 September 1977 until 24 February 1979, when it merged with The Beezer.

Other strips in this comic included:
Ava Banana - This character was as strong as an ox, gentle as a lamb. Her trainer was Charlton Veston, their names being plays on Ava Gardner and Charlton Heston."

I ecven found a site that sells Ava Banana T-Shirts.

Incorrigible Petey Shaftoe, can you lend me 20 quid for that t-shirt so I can go clubbing?

Happy Dave Has Left
13:26 / 17.08.07
You went clubbing last night?

Last night? Last Night was an A1, tip-top, clubbing, jam fair. It was a sandwich of fun, on ecstacy bread, wrapped up in, like, a big bag like disco fudge.

It doesn't get much better than that.

I just wish I could control these FUCKING MOOD SWINGS!

Syzygy Stardust

I was invited about 3 weeks ago but with my holiday to Barcelona in between I haven't had the chance to introduce myself until now.

So, I'm a mixed European dude living in Cambridge, UK earning my living as a programmer. And despite of what you may be led to think from the reference to glam rock in my board name, I'm in my early twenties.

My interests are mysticism, psychology, culture jamming/art, and technology. Especially the way they are coming together, and transforming society in to something we can't even imagine.
All these things seem to come together in here barbelith so I'm looking forward to taking part in some interesting conversations.

I confess.
I confess that this isn't my first post. This was.
I confess that my name comes from a Pokemon move.
I confess that I am an animé and gaming spod, who knows that most people would dismiss what I like out of hand.
I confess that I consider this forum to be a little gem for discussing media.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
21:08 / 29.08.07
Welcome, fresh Barbenauts, to the Lith. You will find your cantaloupe-shaped adventuring hats underneath your seats; please put them on now and then open your exercize books to page seventeen, where you will find the traditional Hymn of Haus. It is recommended that you memorize the hymn before we get too far out into kraken-infested waters. The hum you hear, just behind your ear, is the Barbehive: greeting you, opening its combs to you, preparing to slicken you with its royal jellies.

I PM'ed P.P.P about that. My stomach turned when I read it. Ugh. Gleeeushusheshusheush!!

This Sunday
00:43 / 30.08.07
Now, now. Let's not overreact to the royal jellies and scare the newcomers. We all know what 3P meant. It's nothing nasty or horrible. It's a sex thing. With bees.

Wait...

It's a sex thing with bees! (This realization brought to you by the words 'slicken' and 'pollinate.')

well slicken cries out for a chicken song.

Perhaps I've gone too far...?

Y'know? Bees, royal jellies, chickens and songs? This may be the hive speaking through me, but I'm strangely comfortable with it all.

If the night had a title it would be A Perversion Too Far and need lots of 'Joke, joke... maybe' clauses.

Newcomers, be sure to take this in: get to know your royal jellies and your mission goos.

Saint Keggers

Bees. Bees make wax... and what do we make with wax? Hmmm.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

Surely not THE Chicken Song?

Hold a chicken in the air
Stick a deckchair up your nose... etc

That would be AWFUL.

(AND yes, for some reason unbeknownst to me, I do actually know all the words. Pity me, Barbelith).

Saint Keggers
01:29 / 30.08.07
I had to google. This is my first chicken song reference.

God. I googled it too, and saw this video.
People are just so fucking strange sometimes. What the hell was that?
