Welcome. Do you play Mornington Crescent? Oh, and never mind those folks back there muttering about candles. That's something people do around here. Yes, I'm talking about you lot...don't think I don't see you.

Oh god, yes. Drop a picture in and I'll see if you look like a bass player; otherwise you're gonna have to learn something new.

Welcome, btw

Welcome. Many of us here are very fond of dick too.

Well I hate that this is my first post, but for Christmas this year I received a Philip K Dick anthology, and I've spent months enduring puns like "Oh my, that is a big Dick", "My hand is on James' dick", "James' dick is mighty big" and the classic "James, get your dick off the table"

Hello Barbelith,

This is my first post too. What can I say, I'm twenty-one, a reasonable cartoonist, bad guitarist, lazy activist and slightly jaded social sciences student. I've been reading Barbelith for ages, but only just got around to joining. I'm interested in politics, music, media effects, comic books… to cut it short if it gets discussed on Barbelith I'm probably interested in it.

my favorite cheese is gruyère

I also like gruyère süsi pop, in my three years of veganism between 2001 to 2003 it's absence pained me, although my affectations have slowly moved toward more masculine cheeses like Stilton in recent months.

Many of us here are very fond of dick too

I had my first experience of Dick, the other month, and have to say I found it quite bracing. It took a while to get into the rhythm but after while it started to feel really good…

…ah innuendo, I thought I'd better start as I mean to continue. Anyway, I'd like to say I feel truly privileged to be allowed to join this fine community.

Hello there, thought I'd introduce myself before I throw myself into the thick of things. I'm 28, English, horribly middle-class, predictably liberal, and viciously pro-science. I'll probably be haunting the Comics and Lab sections, with the occasional descent into the political regions.

Long time fan of the site, and now I get to throw out my opinions in sticky lumps like a chimp gone mad. Oh the glee!

93,

Morning all.
Quick intro.
I'm a Magickian, free-lance Thelemite, writer, and devotee of the Holy Whore.
New to Barbelith due to the excruciating process of signing up to the boards.
Soon to be found in the Temple ranting.
Pleasure to be here.

I'd like to add my salutations as well. I've been a long-time lurker who just finished the application process/review. It's really, really great to be a part of Barbelith.

I'm 22, American, and soon ready to begin my graduate studies in communication. I'm interested in communication theory and philosophy, so look for me in the Head Shop. I'm interested in embodied technology, so look for me in the Laboratory. I'm interested in videogaming and ludology, so look for me in Games & Play, if it manifests. I'm interested in comic books, so look for me in, uh, Comic Books. I currently work as a features writer and journalist for my hometown newspaper.

Obsessions include Nintendo, Apple computers, Ninja Turtles comics, Ghostbusters, role-playing games, science fiction literature (Asimov in particular) and Star Wars. You know, geek stuff.

And despite our matching ages and almost identical interests, I swear I'm not the same person as Darumesten.

New members !

Have you ever been in 'a situation' with someone who saw the real inner you, liked the same books, films and so on, but they were stuck in a relationship with some oaf who didn't really understand them, who just used to sit there drinking beer in front of the football, and used to make them cry, probably ? This state of affairs forcing you into perhaps arguably inadvised experimentation with 'the dark side' ? As a result of which you learned that the word 'reptiles,' when applied to the British royal family, is not just a figure of speech...

If so, welcome ! And feel free to share ! There are people on here who can be a bit snippy about that kind of thing, but almost without exception, and whether they realise it or not, those guys are being bankrolled by 'the Greys...'

Alex, remember your Star Chart. Now go sit on the Naughty Step till Dr Who comes on. Just one more infraction and Mr Big Angry Hand will be visiting Mr Tender Little Buttcheeks.

Yay! I’m in! Having completed the registration process and the vastly more gruelling process of staring blankly at the registration screen trying to invent a screen name I didn’t entirely hate I’m here…..so time for some random information about me I guess.

I’m male, aged 27, living in Kent, England and working in an office job in which I enjoy a status roughly equivalent to that of Rimmer in Red Dwarf. I’m vaguely interested in most of the ‘geeky’ stuff, Sci-Fi, trashy horror films and books, Computer Games, Fantasy, and Comic Books. I also have a life long love of dancing like a crazed buffoon, preferably with as many witnesses as possible and I adore many genres of music. I’m currently experimenting with not drinking alcohol, although I’m not straight edge. I’m mildly active in my union and am currently considering getting a bit more involved in political activism – so it’s entirely likely I’ll be asking some questions switchboard about that once I’ve formulated exactly what I want to ask and checked my questions haven’t already been answered.

I expect that against my better judgement I shall eventually make some sort of uber geeky comment in the comic book forum – so please feel free to pour the mockery I will so richly deserve on me when that inevitably happens.

I’m currently about 2/3rds of the way through writing my first novel, although I’m not convinced that it’s any good, I expect I shall find myself posting a lot when I’m on my ‘Procrastination Breaks’ from that.

So that’s about it, just to say I’m darned glad to be here and to thank everyone involved with the work the admission system must generate for doing that work and getting me in. So big tearful Oscars stylee thanks to Olulabelle and all else involved in that bit of business.

I'm afraid I couldn't be evil if I tried (I can't even role-play it.) The job is yours if you want it.
